  • sms007: You’re very welcome. Much Hatzlocha.

You may want to discuss it with someone more knowledgeable, or go straight to the publishers. Just don’t discuss it with any naysayers, or negative people. (Also, brocha is found in things concealed from the eye, so the less of those who don’t have to know, knowing, the more brocha..)

IF I was a Kohen, I would not be disqualified for not being “shoveh b’zera shel Aahron”.

But I’m not a Kohein, still very proud to use my right hand, predominantly.

in reply to: The Steipler Gaon #753672

He was caught, arrested, and inscripted into the Russian army. He was sent pages of a Gemora, and spent his days on those. He was told one Shabbos, that he must do target practice. So he held the gun upside-down, and shot. Amazingly, on the first try he got the bulls eye. I believe he was forced to run the _____ where soldiers line up from both sides, and beat mercilessly with clubs, while you run through. People died running it.

He was forced to do guard duty, on Shabbos. There was one heavy winter coat that the guard used. One Shabbos, when he arrived the first guard left the coat hanging on the tree. Since one may not remove an object from a tree on Shabbos, he kept on pushing off removing the coat, until it would become pikuach nefesh, in freezing Russian winter. He never removed it.

Once he did make it into Poland, he eventually became a Rosh Yeshiva in a Novardiker Yeshiva, at a young age.

This is not even nearing the surface of who the Steipler was, and what he has achieved for us.

You have nothing to lose by trying, and lots to gain. Try to present a finished product, and present it professionally. Of course, be willing to adapt to their suggestions (which can be a challenge sometimes, after investing so much time and effort to do it just right, the original way).

I have not published any books. Used to manage a book store, and part of it was to have a strong “feel” for the books, to try know what will sell. I do know a couple of “simple” people who did publish books. Two through Feldheim/Targum, one through Israel book shop.

sms: if Artscroll, Feldheim or Targum takes it, there is usually no investment. They do take most of the profit, but they take the risk, advertise and distribute. The others, it depends. Try speaking with them. There are other publishers as well. Try them all

Charlie: fact is Kohaninm are spiritually superior to Yisroelim! And there is good reason for it. Still, “mamzer talmid chochom, kodem l’kohen am ha’aretz”

in reply to: Let's Define Terms – What is "yeshivish", "MO", etc? #753761

I don’t consider such crieria, period! A jew is a jew. Some tzadikim are very cllose to Hashem…

besides for Feldheim, there’s Targum (dist by Feldheim) there’s Israel Bbok Shop, Judaica Press and others. If one company doesn’t get back to you, or rejects it, go to the next one. The first couple of books that one publishes, very very little money is made. The Mitzvah is great though. After, money is made.

    Talking about Jewish boks.

Thank you PBA. Always the voice of sanity, when needed. And the voice of humorous insanity, when needed

    an amazing balance

in reply to: middos therapist #753261

BY: I agree with you that a middos therapist is very helpful and important. Truth is, if one opts to become close to a Rebbe/Rov/Masgiach/Mechaneches/Teacher/Proper Role Model, they are doing that. Of course only when they’re willing to accept direction. Once upon a time we’d go to a prophet to direct us.

You don’t me to agree with you, just thought my comments there may have promted you. (I don’t know that a good Frum psychologist won’t be able to help many improve themselves, not the “excuse themselves” deal)

The Kallah’s family was involved prior to you getting divorced?

    _____

As far as the actual question, I can’t answer. I think it may be worthwhile to discuss it with a child psychologist or social worker that deals with children.

G-d does the payment for those who have wronged us. Sooner or later. You can be assured of that.

For your kids, you have to do whatever is in their best interest. If these people will rub it in your kids face over the next ten years that you prevented them from attending… Maybe the opposite, let them go for the Kabolas Ponim and Chuppah. After that, home to a delicious supper, ice cream , a big hug and yummy bedtime story and bed.

True. All I’m trying to point out is that somebody doing something bad cannot and should not automatically be blamed on something in the person’s upbringing.

    I wholeheartedly agree.

I think that a person who is completely, 100% emotionally stable is still perfectly capable being evil.

    PBA: I sure did

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it somewhere before. Any clue where it could have been?

in reply to: Gratitude for Calm in Eretz Yisrael #752423

This is not intended to start a debate

    It sure will.

Back in the early part of the twentieth century there was a Chasidishe Rebbe who said what you said. “Goyim kill Jews. Jews will hit Jews, but won’t (for most part) kill Jews”. (The majority of our Torah sages were against the establishment of a state at that point, despite being aware of this)

On the other hand, our brethren in the Holy Land are not in a simple situation. They are surrounded by millions upon millions of “pera adom” who would like to kill them at all costs R”L. Every day is a miracle.

You’re right. We must show gratitude. Gratitude to Hashem who performs miracles upon miracles for us on a daily basis.

    Thank you Hashem

Chumras about food on Pesach is mentioned in the Shulchan Oruch. Chumras that are only done on Pesach, but not all year round. So really, since you’ve thought it through, you have some legitimate questions on our Poskim.

Why not just bring a CD player with some nice CD’s for the wedding?

deiyezooger’s idea, which had a lot of thought, time and money invested into making it so easy and un-costly, does not deserve to be downplayed.

I apologize. It seemed to me that someone was being called a cuke or kouk or kook. Others have changed peoples names to mock them in other threads, and I’ve usually commented on it, when I noticed it.

I’m telling you, in all honesty, I have no idea who you are out of the coffee room. No idea.

Where do you think I live. You’d be quite surprised to know. I am positive you’re not from my community

One thing though. Why the change from a c to a k in your abbreviation? Any explanation, if not to mock?
