    Avira DeArah wrote my thoughts more eloquently than I was able to but thatโ€™s what I was trying to express.

    I donโ€™t think itโ€™s clear cut either way. Most (not all) of the things that would classify someone as OTD are more private these days.

    in reply to: Girls reputation vs boys reputation #2025838

    Ujm- I disagree that itโ€™s harder to be a good boy. I think that while it may be challenging to wake up for shul or learn itโ€™s the same if not more difficult to dress Tznius, and act refined. Also, who knows how to sew these days?! (Besides our mothers) And in regards to Shidduchim, boys definitely have an upper-hand.

    in reply to: cleaning help #2025754

    Iโ€™m not from NY or NJ and many if not most of my friends have cleaning help. I was just having a discussion about it with someone who was in shock that my family cleans our own rooms.

    in reply to: Letโ€™s not get our hopes up #2025753

    I think people arenโ€™t so excited that he won, more the fact that a no name truck driver who spent $150 on his campaign won over a 11 year Democrat. It shows that the American people are done with life-long politicians who donโ€™t get much done!

    in reply to: Girls reputation vs boys reputation #2025756

    I also though about this question a lot. I think itโ€™s because when a boy goes off the derech or slips in his Yiddishkeit it takes a lot less nerve. When a girl stops being Tznius she had to actively go buy a short/tight skirt whereas a boy just accepted a cigarette from a friend or acted rowdy. Maybe because itโ€™s in a boys nature to do non Toradik things? I donโ€™t fully understand.

    in reply to: Trump is a Distraction, Much to the Detriment of the Republican Party #2025752

    I think trump was a great president but I also think he is a good club for the Dems to hit Republicans with. I was going to say exactly what Health said. Youngkin was able to welcome in the Trump voters while not alienating the suburban women (who were a tremendous help to his victory) I think he should continue to keep quiet except for endorsements.

    in reply to: Tznius and kosher pastimes for teenagers #2025749

    Talk on the phone with a friend, babysit, study for tests/do homework, spend time with family,etc. The list is endless.

    Youngkin is four points up in the polls, that says something! Also, the Daily Wire (Ben Shapiroโ€™s publication) report about the Loudon County (public school) assault coverup contributed a lot.

    Because you said that they should homeschool! There is a legal mandate for children to be schooled (not everyone has enough financial flexibility to homeschool) there isnโ€™t a legal mandate to pass the cameras!

    in reply to: Mayor of the fate of NYC #2022181

    I didnโ€™t know about the Farrakhan situation and I didnโ€™t know Sliwa apologised. Thanks for that info, it does change things!

    in reply to: Sports #2022163

    @farbycoffe
    Is that the only problem you found with the post?!?! Not that Iโ€™m a father and Mechaneches or that Iโ€™m a talmud of the Chofetz Chaim and still alive?!?!

    .P.S. Itโ€™s a joke

    in reply to: Mayor of the fate of NYC #2022160

    I preface this post by saying Iโ€™m generally with the Republicans.
    I donโ€™t think Sliwa is a good option because he has said anti Semitic things in the past (about Jews taking over) and when asked about it this year he didnโ€™t apologize!
    Yes, Eric Adams has been investigated for corruption in every office heโ€™s held BUT heโ€™s a former police officer so I feel like heโ€™ll be tougher on crime. (He said he doesnโ€™t support defunding the police)

    in reply to: Halacha #2022134

    Thank you 1a2b3c!!! I was going to say that but I didnโ€™t want to be that person.

    Iโ€™m not in Yeshiva so Iโ€™m not the best source but I think it depends on what yeshiva a person is in. I donโ€™t think you can make a blanket statement about all yeshivos.

    @coffee addict
    I disagree. Parents should be able to send their kids to school without worry that their kids will be exposed to anti American or explicit ideas. Also, a lot of liberals/pro McAuliffe people support abolishing private and home schools. Ana Kasparian (The Young Turks) said this in a debate with Ben Shapiro.

    in reply to: Why Does YWN Baselessly Attack Biden? #2021786

    I love how you all suddenly care about the respect of the president after all the names you called trump! Also, in my opinion thereโ€™s no such thing as unbiased media anymore, everyone has their opinion and canโ€™t keep it to themselves. To pretend that the MSM doesnโ€™t skew stories or just refuse to report others is ridiculous. If youโ€™re honest and want both sides of the story, read Fox AND CNN headlines! ( thatโ€™s what I do)

    in reply to: Why Does YWN Baselessly Attack Biden? #2021787

    BIDENโ€™S โ€œACCOMPLISHMENTSโ€:
    1. Gas prices are soaring!
    2. Shortage/ no supplies in stores!
    3.Open borders!
    4.Inflation is booming!
    5.Thousands of women given over to the Taliban!
    6.13 servicemen killed!
    7.Thanksgiving is predicted to be extremely expensive!
    These arenโ€™t things that just happen to occur while he was president, these are things that happened as a result of his actions!

    in reply to: Mothers' Names on Wedding Invitations #2021149

    Iโ€™m sorry ujm but youโ€™re so wrong. Its not following trends to recognise a motherโ€™s role and the fact that she gave you life and raised you!

    in reply to: attention #2021147

    Immature (n)
    A word boring people use to describe fun people!

    People have always told me Iโ€™m immature but I wear it like a badge of honour because it just means theyโ€™re jealous that I have a personality!

    in reply to: Why the Need for Perfection?! #2020576

    Ujm- thatโ€™s exactly my point! I donโ€™t understand why illness or hardship in general has to be hush hush! It happens to the best of people.

    Shimon Nodel- I actually donโ€™t live near Borough Park or New York for that matter. Youโ€™re telling ME to step out of my comfort zone but thats pretty much what Iโ€™m saying. We should address issues that may not be comfortable. Also, I think there is a big difference between wallowing in misery and acknowledging that our lives arenโ€™t perfect!

    Avira DeArah- Thatโ€™s a really good answer!!

    Philosopher- I do agree that in our generation we have a victim mentality where itโ€™s โ€œcoolโ€ to have issues. But saying that doesnโ€™t erase the people who have actual problems live Avira DeArah mentioned (OCD, Bipolar, Anxiety etc.)

    in reply to: Why the Need for Perfection?! #2020349

    No. Thatโ€™s not what Iโ€™m saying at all and I think you know that. What I am saying is that I have personally heard people express shock that mental illness is a thing in frum communities and I just read an article in a Jewish magazine about women who were too sheltered to notice signs of addiction in their husbands. I believe being Frum and being aware can go hand in hand.

    in reply to: Sports #2020308

    As a high school Michaneches and father of many teens as well as a close talmid of the Chofetz Chaim, I’m very concerned for the wellbeing of bored teens who need to find entertainment in sports instead of realizing the beauty of Torah learning and all that it can offer! I think that boys need to realize that their place is in the Beis Midrash and not glued to some goyim tackling each other like behamos!

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925721

    I don’t think any of us have enjoyed this conversation. You have insulted every one of us, ignored the arguments we’ve presented (and then said we don’t have an arguments) but you yourself haven’t given any arguments!
    “You say I can’t accept a differing opinion”
    YOU CAN’T! And you have shown that throughout this conversation.

    “you ignore the flaws and problems with him.”
    I have literally said at least 5 times “WE ACCEPT THAT HE HAS FLAWS!” At this point there is no reason to continue the conversation with you. You are pretending we’ve said and done things we haven’t. YOU are the one who hasn’t admitted Joe Biden and Barack Obama are flawed. None of us are cultists (including you) and you need to stop saying that. (ona’as d’varim/sheker) And by the way you haven’t answered my legitimate arguments. Instead you pick on words and choose not to answer things. Adios Buddy! It was very enlightening talking to you.

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925293

    CULT
    noun
    a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.

    None of us have veneration for Donald Trump! We are happy with how he treated Israel, how many jobs he created, etc. None of us said he has no flaws! None of us said he is pure! We believe that actions speak louder than words and honestly I donโ€™t care how many times he calls people names it wonโ€™t change the fact that heโ€™s been great for America!

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925289

    @Mrsheker
    Every single one of us has said multiple times that he has flaws! Plenty of them! If Donald Trump shoot someone I would 100% want him in jail! I can guarantee you that all of us Trump supporters on here would NOT vote for someone who shot someone. Find someone who would and argue with them! Why argue with us about something we wouldnโ€™t do?!

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925060

    When you classify other commenters as evil or a cult member, you make it difficult to have a rational conversation.

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925059

    Did I say Trump was an antisemite?
    No. I didn’t say you said that. I said TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO SAY
    No one not even his supporters will deny the fact that he has character flaws. He has criticized his supporters (or cult members as you call them) by the way.

    “I think mainly he is a supreme narcissist” Who just put out a 768 page memoir about what a great man he is? It was BARAK OBAMA! That’s a narcissist if I’ve ever seen one.

    “And, he will use any and all language no matter how despicable to refer to those he disagrees with”
    I don’t know if you’ve forgotten or don’t know but Joe Biden said in 2012 about Mitt Romney “He’s gonna put ya’ll back in chains” talking to black people. I don’t know about you but I think I think that’s pretty despicable.

    If you are trying to convince me that one side is bad you can’t use criticism that applies to the other side as well!

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925022

    Statistics show that the only group of people who Trump lost votes with were WHITE MEN!!! He won some more votes with white women, he gained A LOT with black women, men and Latinos. Why would they all decide to vote for him? HMMMMM…. Maybe bc African-American unemployment and poverty rates were at record lows?, He was the candidate who stood for LAW AND ORDER., A lot of Latinos came from socialist countries and they see Joe Biden being a little too soft on socialists.

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925016

    AAAAAAAAAAND he pulled funding from a college that had an anti Semitic speaker. Keep in mind he doesn’t have a lot of political gain bc 1.The media will barely report it and 2. College educated/unaffiliated Jews don’t vote for him!

    TRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMP

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925015

    For all of you calling him an anti semite-
    HERE’S A DIRECT QUOTE FROM THE WASHINGTON POST:
    “He passed an executive order that defines the Jewish people as a nationality for purposes of federal civil rights law, an effort to step up enforcement against episodes of anti-Semitism on college campuses”
    “That means schools could lose federal funding if they fail to combat discrimination against Jewish students.”

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1925011

    @emesnishtsheker
    Please check your history. I’m pretty sure once anti Semitism became the norm those Jews working under anti Semites were fired. Also, why is it that every single time there’s a political discussion people bring up the holocaust? PLEASE STOP TRIVIALIZING THE HOLOCAUST WITH YOUR BAD ANALOGIES!

    in reply to: How far is too far? #1924839

    @gadolha dorah-
    Racist- Have you ever heard of Ben Carson, Paris Dennard, Kevin Daniels, Katrina Peirson etc.

    Misogynist- Ever heard of Kellyanne Conway- first women to run a successful presidential campaign
    Sara Sanders- First mom EVER to be press secretary
    Stephanie Grisham- First single mom to be press secretary
    (Kayleigh McEnany, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Katrina Pierson, Karen Dunn Kelley, Gina Haspel, Elisabeth DeVos, etc.)
    If trump hates black people and/or women why in the world would he hire them?!

    Also, are women so fragile that they cant take an insult? When Trump insults men they laugh it off but the women are literal snowflakes that they cant take an insult. Misogyny= A hatred toward women. He insults men the same if not more than women.

    in reply to: If Trump does win, how would you react…? #1924907

    @torahvaluesoverparty
    Actual quote from the Constitution:
    “Text. Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
    Donald Trump lost this election meaning he only had 1 term! He can run for another. 71% of Republican voters want Trump to run in 2024 so ya.

    in reply to: If Trump does win, how would you react…? #1924800

    I would board up my house and get ready for riots. Doesn’t anyone find it strange that when the party of “Love and Unity” loses there are riots and violence yet when they “win” there is no need for the boarded up windows?! hmmmmm…… At the Million MAGA March there was no violence then Antifa and BLM show up and Trump supporters are being beaten! If people are being beaten up for their political views and NOT ONE Democrat condemns it, in my opinion that’s one step away from being beaten up for religious beliefs! (yammukah, hijab, etc.)
