perhaps if more men actually worked for a living instead of kollel 24/7, you might not have the need for so many women to go outside of the home…. just a thought
heres another thought…some women actually need to work, and should not feel ashamed in any way for having to go to work. not every woman is “cut-out” for mommyhood 24/7. Its tantamount to saying evey one must be a doctor or a lawyer…some women may lose their minds staying at home all day…
Any woman who wants a career – kol hakavod. We live Boruch H’ in a generation where women have myriad career opportunities available to them.

torahis1MemberIn todays day and age it is not a good idea to allow drunkenness on simchas torah. My shul is a chassidishe shtiebel and we have a very strict no alcohol policy.
The hakafos and the atmosphere were incredible. There was no need for alcohol at all.
torahis1Memberthank you moderator!
I hope that extends to those making fun of my minhag of not eating gebrokts.
torahis1Memberhave a good shabbos chachom (or r u really joseph, ujm all rolled into one?)
hmmmmmmmmmm…
torahis1Memberujm –
I do not characterize all chareidim like that.
I only use those terms in reference to those who speak & behave that way.
for example-
those people throw bleach on women,
those people appoint themselves and ban music.
those people that harass Rabbi Twerski.
including anyone who defends thuggery whether they be posting it on this site …or elsewhere.
torahis1Memberveimloachshav – thanx for the good wishes.. to you as well. as for joining your collective hashkofos, I would need to lose quite a lot of brain cells in order for that to happen.
torahis1MemberThere are many many other towns outside of the NY area that have fine kollelim and great Yiddishkeit.
There is life west of New Jersey…
torahis1Memberbizrizut – u said it better than I could. I could not agree with you more,,,
torahis1Memberits a simcha gedola when new york teams are humiliated. I am glad to see the most overpaid overrated bunch of cryababies – the yankees not make the playoffs this year.
torahis1MemberHere is a good list
torahis1Membernothing Jewish about Music?!
that is absurd!
how about the leviim in the bais hamikdash playing the harps etc.?
what about david hamelech playing for shaul?
torahis1MemberIF there is a tznius crisis… which could very well be…
Interesting, in R’ Efraim Wachsmans speech he lamented on the current state of dress of ‘nshei talmidei chachomim’. First of all, that makes an assumption that everyone in Lakewood is a Talmid Chochom….says who? Second, who says their wives are such yirei shomayim either? A year in seminary and all of a sudden shes a Rebbitzen?
Rabbonim and their wives of yesteryear were a rare and precious commodity. Boys and girls werent forced/intimidated into a life of full time learning like they are today-wholesale. Back then, a life of full time learning was for the privileged few who could hack it.. and they would only choose their wives who were on the highest levels of yiras shomayim. So it figures that the women back then dressed appropriately.
A bit of a contrast…Today, the boys what do they look for in a shidduch? $$$!!!
What questions are asked? What size is she? What size is her mother. Well, I guess we see where the tznius crisis starts…
