How do you define a “Good” shadchan?
Only mortals are bound by time. Being mortal, I have no idea what this means, but that’s the answer to the question of yediya vs bechira.
Hebrew regular davening, English in my own words.

How about you admire this teacher who says the whole sefer Tehillim every day, but it’s too much for you, so after many weeks of working on it you now say sefer Tehillim once a month. By going to ________ seminary, you hope to be inspired to say it once a day, or at least once a week since you are too humble to aspire to such greatness.

Torah613, I don’t know exactly what you mean by that, or whether you mean that tongue in cheek.
Any negative influences within Yeshiva, are just not going to be as bad as the influences outside.

I heard that maasah once. I think it continues that then he joined a litvish sheva brachos and made everyone dance in a circle, and drink beer, and everyone who danced in that circle and drank beer noticed the next day that their white hairs had turned black. Even the blonde people.

There was a lady named Chaya, and she got a Yerushalayim Shel Zahav from her husband in the shape of a crown. All the girls wanted to be like her, so they named the seminary Keser Chaya.
My mother held to this minhag, and would never serve fleishigs on Thursday night.
My husband most decidedly does not hold by this minhag, and enjoys fleishigs at every opportunity.

Yes, exactly. If they’ve met, however briefly, I think it’s fine.

Gamanit, DY is correct. I think it’s proper to tell someone if you know who they are (assuming it’s tznius and won’t upset them too much.)

My point is just that if you know about something, it comes into account. Does it make a difference overall? Not necessarily. But people shouldn’t say that it doesn’t matter. If Hashem let you find out about something, it’s to send you a message of some sort, and not ignore it.
This is not about my personal views.

I’m a BY girl who uses internet. Which seminary do you think I’ll fit into best – Bais Yaakov Intensive, BJJ, Hadar, or Bnos Chava? Which one has the best girls? Which one has the best lunches and trips? Which one is the most yeshivish but openminded? Which one is best for shidduchim? Which one is the cheapest? If I’m adopted do you think I’ll have a harder time getting in??
DY, I didn’t mean to make it sound black and white.
Generally speaking, I think a shadchan should have met both before setting it up.
But I won’t rule it out because, as you note, sometimes it does work. Hashem has many ways of splitting the sea.
Miri, I hope you’re joking, but honestly you probably wouldn’t fit into either one. And if you do manage to get in, you’ll have a hard time finding friends. How about Tomer Devorah in EY or Midreshet Tehila?
I know lots of people, but I’d rather spy on them and tell their mothers everything they post than let them know.
