uneeq – but no women wear green lipstick.
November 27, 2012 12:47 pm at 12:47 pm in reply to: ?davening time at Emunas Yisroel for shacharis #908792Torah613TorahParticipantWIY – he can tell me if it’s available, open it up for me if necessary, etc. But not in Emunas Yisrael.
Torah613TorahParticipantI think there’s truth to both.
We all agree that Torah is the highest form of knowledge.
However, girls don’t know enough about what the boys are learning to respect it. Also, the competition of the outside world tends to make them more sophisticated and articulate about their fields.
Torah613TorahParticipantFarrock – I just found out why my parents call each other Abba and Mommy.
Torah613TorahParticipantThe OP is probably referring to wearing boots with short skirts. In that case, it’s the short skirt that’s the problem. Boots themselves are if anything more tznius than shoes.
November 27, 2012 2:59 am at 2:59 am in reply to: ?davening time at Emunas Yisroel for shacharis #908790Torah613TorahParticipantRebdoniel – BH I have a very accommodating father 🙂
That’s the secret.
Torah613TorahParticipantAmen and thank you coffee addict!
Torah613TorahParticipantJustLogic: Because it’s hard to find a yekkish feminist girl willing to marry someone with green lips.
Torah613TorahParticipantThank you for explaining, Rabbi/Mr Moderator!
Torah613TorahParticipantPBA: This was a more blatant example of the theme.
Torah613TorahParticipantUneeq: That made me laugh out loud.
Torah613TorahParticipantAnd once again, the thread follows PBA’s predestined line of thought.
Torah613TorahParticipantMy boots look a lot nicer than my shoes, and I wear them whenever it’s 30 degrees or less (fahrenheit).
I personally think you’re making a mountain out of a molehill.
Torah613TorahParticipantI probably wouldn’t know if it was my friends’ ex. Who shares names when talking about shidduchim?
Maybe my friends are special, but they wouldn’t share names.
***They were engaged, it is common once someone gets engaged to say the name.
Torah613TorahParticipantI think PBA is correct. And a key factor is his second point – for all our worrying about the crisis, most girls have a very narrow range of who they’re willing to date.
Torah613TorahParticipantPlease give me a bracha to serve Hashem all my life.
Thank you for this lovely thread.
Torah613TorahParticipantSingle women are the kal, married women are the chomer.
Torah613TorahParticipantEvery time I see the ad for ??? ????, I think of chocolate. Elite chocolate.
Torah613TorahParticipant147 – thanks for the suggestion. My impression is that the more socially adept boys don’t bother with it. However, I have joined these sites, as well as networking irl.
BTW I’m a younger single (well not compared to Rivka Imenu, but not able to join NASI either).

Yes, I do want to daven during the week (for sure on Rosh Chodesh, but it’s always more inspiring in shul than at home) I don’t have little kids to help out with, and why not? I know that EY is often open on RC for women.
Probably not every day, but having the option would be nice. I’d also like to know if there’s a vasikin minyan women go to anywhere in BP/Flatbush – in case I need to get to work early, EY ends a little late for me.
Torah613TorahParticipantI plan to keep my maiden name if I continue to be professionally active, but my married name in all other ways.
You’ve brought up a topic that feminists won’t like. I personally have no problem with it. Then again, I am not a feminist.
Torah613TorahParticipantDoes dressing to kill refer to wearing cockroach killers?
Torah613TorahParticipantHealth – I have both education and experience in the psychological field. I have observed many times how young single frum girls invariably end up attracted to their male therapists. I don’t know if it works the other way with young men and female therapists, but I’ve seen it often enough to be very wary.
Torah613TorahParticipantTherapy is usually an intimate experience. You don’t want that kind of bond with someone you’re not going to marry.
November 25, 2012 1:16 am at 1:16 am in reply to: Fund to Help With Long Distance Dating Costs #908590Torah613TorahParticipantThe idea of this bothers me, but I’m not sure why.
Torah613TorahParticipantVote for me, I’ll be YWN’s first female president!
November 25, 2012 1:15 am at 1:15 am in reply to: ?davening time at Emunas Yisroel for shacharis #908786Torah613TorahParticipantIs the Ezras Nashim open?
Torah613TorahParticipantThe responses in this thread were very entertaining.
Shabbos vs. Chasuna – I’ve heard that your best should be for both, is there a halacha about it?
November 9, 2012 3:22 am at 3:22 am in reply to: Two Things to Remember Before You Order Your Palestinian Passport #906802Torah613TorahParticipantI second PBA.
Torah613TorahParticipantMods – what’s with this post?
Frummy in the tummy – thanks.
For the record, I am not convinced that Obama is a good president, but nor is he evil incarnate. I did not vote for him. That doesn’t mean I voted for Romney, either. This thread was about the positive, which I am always happy to highlight, on any topic.
Working on it-
1. Gay marriage. He stated that while he personally believes marriage is between a man and woman, he believes that civil unions should not be unrecognized legally. Later, he bent to the political winds and emphasized his latter view. Hardly a rip-roaring supporter.
2. It doesn’t matter what he does but what he says. The real power of a president is that he has a bully pulpit.
3. If you’re determined to see every move he makes as anti-Jewish, including hiring Orthodox Jews, who am I to argue?
4. He has been criticized by the media and sure he can do damage. So could Bush. This is a pointless argument.
I’m signing off this thread to avoid further conflict. I will read your response, don’t worry.
Torah613TorahParticipantThanks oneofmany and uneeq – we do indeed.
Torah613TorahParticipantFrummy in the tummy – thanks.

Torah613TorahParticipantIn Whose Hand is the hearts of kings and princes again?
We seem to have forgotten.
Torah613TorahParticipantPBA – Come on.
1. President Obama is a great husband and father, a good role model for America in a time when family values are being compromised. He has never openly supported non-family values.
2. President Obama has continued providing military aid to and having military exercises with Israel. In particular, he strongly affirmed his support of Israel during the debates.
3. President Obama is very charismatic. People like him. Although he does seem to have a bit of a natural antipathy towards Israel, he has put himself above suspicion by having Jews, and not just any Jews but Orthodox Jews, working for him. He can’t be too much of an anti-semite in person.
4. Sometimes a president who doesn’t seem to openly love Israel, can do a lot more behind the scenes without being criticized by the media.
Torah613TorahParticipantI posted a response that didn’t show up yesterday. Thanks to the above posters answered the question about Mazal.
What about Paroh, whose astrologers saw a savior would be born?
I mentioned this concept to my partner in Torah, and she wasn’t so comfortable with the idea that only we can overcome our Mazal.
November 2, 2012 6:40 pm at 6:40 pm in reply to: Biden is moshiach and obama is the shliach!!! #902338Torah613TorahParticipantI’m Malka Meshicha!! (which is ultimate proof it can be a girl!)
PS Yes I know it’s Aramaic.
November 2, 2012 6:39 pm at 6:39 pm in reply to: Yeshaya Hanavi's Criticism of Female Cosmetics #902367Torah613TorahParticipantVery clever and creative, HaLevia!
Where does it come from?
Mods: did my earlier post disappear? if it says I move too fast, does that mean it didn’t post?
November 2, 2012 3:07 pm at 3:07 pm in reply to: Yeshaya Hanavi's Criticism of Female Cosmetics #902365Torah613TorahParticipantThanks everyone. I remember learning that eye liner was used for zonahs.
Torah613TorahParticipantMore_2: No, it doesn’t.
Torah613TorahParticipant?? ???? ???? ??? ??? ??? ??????????
Torah613TorahParticipantGoodbye – thank you so much! I am so excited to tell her that answer.
Torah613TorahParticipantB’shem amro: My partner in Torah asked me this question. I would really love an answer that makes sense.
Torah613TorahParticipantMiritchka: I second the moderator.
Torah613TorahParticipantPBA: Would you pay? That is the important question.
Torah613TorahParticipantWIY – usually the instructions will let you know if it’s dangerous for a certain type of skin. If it’s not on the eye area, it should be fine.
Torah613TorahParticipantPBA: That leaves like 1000 years before Mohammed unaccounted for. During which they were idol worshipers.
So what happened to the passuk during that time?
Torah613TorahParticipantBHB: True, but Yerushalayim is freezing in the winter.
I personally did not mind the heat so much, even without air conditioning. Wearing 100% cotton really helped, it must be much harder for men who have to wear a velvet hat, tzitzis, shirt, and jacket (and I can’t even imagine being chassidish!)
November 1, 2012 3:03 pm at 3:03 pm in reply to: GAS SHORTAGE: Where Can You get Gas Following Superstorm Sandy? #902417Torah613TorahParticipantWhat a brilliant thread. Sorry I don’t know, but can people please post?
Torah613TorahParticipantThis is the kind of thing you should google, imho.
Torah613TorahParticipantYay, this is my first topic to take off!
