??? ???? ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? ????? ??????
Torah613TorahParticipantTorah learning is good in general.
However, it is bad for women to be learning Torah instead of doing what Hashem created them to do (being wives, mothers, etc). It is even worse for them to be learning history, science, writing,or working instead of doing what they were created to do. It is also bad for them to be posting on YWN instead of doing what they were created to do.
But if they are learning Torah in addition to all that, that is good.
Make sense?

2. writersoul, to my understanding, it can be argued that being a Rabbi isn’t like being a doctor, because you don’t really need smicha in order to do the things being a Rabbi permits you to do (since there isn’t really smicha today anyway.)
btw your identity is showing. Try to be more careful. (this + some other threads.)
Torah613TorahParticipantWIY: I say edit: sefer Tehillim during the day. Only a little bit at night.
May 8, 2013 12:04 am at 12:04 am in reply to: Why Can't Women Get Modern Smicha and Become Rabbis? #1071495Torah613TorahParticipantIf Devorah Hanevia could be a shofetes without being a Rabbi, not being a Rabbi obviously doesn’t prevent you from doing much.
It’s just a title, and most women don’t care about titles anyway (except their husband’s titles.)
Torah613TorahParticipantIs this the one which plays music nonstop?
Torah613TorahParticipantWIY: Not true. $90 is way too expensive for a skirt imho. But if it’s tznius, and people will wear it instead of less tznius denim skirts (and knowing women’s styles that is a strong possibility) I don’t think it’s a bad thing.
I personally don’t wear denim, but there is nothing essentially wrong with it.
be good: denim is not even that fashionable any more. but you’re right that to each their own.
Torah613TorahParticipantGood job, Oh S!
Torah613TorahParticipantI feel the need to note Denim was invented by a Jew.
Some stores that would carry it whose names I can recall:
Elzee, Unique Boutique, Midwood Fashion outlet, Brenda’s, most places in Flatbush
Stores that would not carry it:
anyplace chassidish, many places in BP
Torah613TorahParticipantCan you get them Me’ushar?
Torah613TorahParticipantWIY: Under natural law women are not equal. Men cannot have children.
I like writing mock proofs much better than real ones.
Torah613TorahParticipantTwisted: Sorry I missed your post. That was very interesting. Thanks for posting.
Torah613TorahParticipantJust ask someone for the stamp from their old phone.
Torah613TorahParticipantHow many rapes and murders are acholhol fueled? why not put efforts to reduce that harm?
Google “Prohibition”
Torah613TorahParticipantIf you must express your anger by throwing, don’t throw things at people. Throw people at things.
Torah613TorahParticipantI learned that women can wear baggy pants.
I don’t even own any pants, so the question has never come up.
Torah613TorahParticipantI think you should try starting some threads with actual content.
/hypocrite
Torah613TorahParticipantpopa, you picked 2?
Torah613TorahParticipantMazal tov!
Torah613TorahParticipantVogue, try to volunteer, do some type of chesed, get a job. Being engaged in productive endeavors helps these sort of challenges go to the back burner.
Torah613TorahParticipantThe Little Midrash Says.
Did you try google?
Torah613TorahParticipantIn the best case scenario, you’ll spend so much time hiding it you won’t enjoy it anyway. Not worth the trouble.
Torah613TorahParticipantI tried emailing my seminary, but it just takes so long to get answers from them…
I love that your seminary has email.
Torah613TorahParticipantWomen were also present at Matan Torah.
I don’t feel the need to, I feel just as good saying Tehillim, but I don’t think it’s necessarily feminist.
Torah613TorahParticipantYou should contact Nefesh International. Google them.
Torah613TorahParticipant1 & 4
Torah613TorahParticipantOneOfMany: (I’m using your full name because that was amazing) Thank you so much for taking the time to post that! This is an excellent reference.
enjoyed pba’s
Syag, why are you so eager to be tested on everything? We should learn this lishma.
Torah613TorahParticipantThanks peerim.
Torah613TorahParticipant42 – listened to most of it with a very enthusiastic relative. It’s much more entertaining when you know the people involved. ๐
Torah613TorahParticipant๐
OOM would you please post “Emoticons for Dummies – a Reference for the Rest of Us”? A handy dandy list of the most commonly used emoticons on YWN?
Torah613TorahParticipantno
only ๐ and very rarely ๐
yes, I have to google them
OOM I think (do you forgive me now?)
Torah613TorahParticipantI find almost everything squeak posts funny too.
Torah613TorahParticipantlol
Torah613TorahParticipantI just cracked up ๐
Torah613TorahParticipantHmmm. I only know ???? ????.
How does it go?
Torah613TorahParticipantHealth: Many boys quit smoking for shidduchim, or when they get engaged. Or at least they claim to. Sometimes it’s true and sometimes it isn’t.
Torah613TorahParticipantCheck breslev websites in Israel. The mods probably won’t post links, so googling is your best bet.
Sorry to hear that. ๐
Torah613TorahParticipantDaMoshe: I think this person got that impression from TV.
lol at the MO argument.
Torah613TorahParticipantIf it’s apolitical, then straw men won’t wear it.
Torah613TorahParticipantEnder and Health – nearly every girl I know (and I know a lot of girls) do and will turn down a guy who currently smokes. Nothing to do with the shidduch crisis.
There are certainly worse vices, but smoking rates pretty high. It shows a lack of foresight, it’s unhealthy, it’s expensive, and it smells. You want your husband to be alive to take care of you and the family. The very few girls willing to date smokers are usually from families where the father/brother smokes, or have other issues that they feel the need to compromise on this.
Torah613TorahParticipantSyag: Interesting. Not everyone comes out good in pictures, but it does give you an idea. I agree that just knowing a name isn’t helpful, but it would be interesting to be able to put things in context.
Torah613TorahParticipantGamanit, you know someone who probably knows the person with the red minivan in BP… think a little. ๐
Torah613TorahParticipantAvi K: I think you need to be more careful in how you word your prayers. Everyone who is not learning = non-Jews as well. And you don’t know which army they will join.
I would daven, instead, that Hashem should protect Eretz Yisrael. ?? ?’ ?? ???? ??? ??? ??? ????
Torah613TorahParticipantLOL squeak.
Torah613TorahParticipantThere is a simple way to stop smoking in the yeshivos: girls should refuse any shidduchim with guys that smoke.
What an original idea. No frum girl has ever refused a shidduch with a boy who smoked.
Torah613TorahParticipantI don’t know, there’s a faint whiff of sarcasm…
Torah613TorahParticipantSyag: I am curious about everyone’s identity.
Torah613TorahParticipantSyag: ๐
Torah613TorahParticipantWIY, are you talking about pot or nicotine?
Maybe I’m out of it, but I just don’t know anyone who smokes pot. Unless people don’t want to tell me, which is certainly possible.
