Being a shochet is one of the most prestigious and honorable jobs in Yiddishkeit. A stark contrast to a goyish butcher.

He was ACQUITTED. As in NOT GUILTY. Not that we needed a Japanese court to affirm his innocence, but they did. And this is in a country that has a NINETY NINE POINT EIGHT percent (that’s right — 99.8%) conviction rate!!!

The question is not who “won the debate”. The question is who will be the best President.

The answer, IMHO, is Rick Perry. Mitt Romney would be a good second choice. Both have realistic shots at claiming the nomination. Jon Huntsman does not.

Neither. Assuming you finished high school, you would comprehend that your original comment here doesn’t disagree with the OP. Given that you admit the proportions haven’t changed over time, it is no greater or lesser a crisis today than it was 40 years ago. There always were, and always will unfortunately be, people who cannot or do not get married for whatever reasons.

Yatzmich: Again, that would mean the so-called “Shidduch Crisis” in nothing new and always existed. There were always people throughout history that nebech never got married, for one reason or another.

So if the people are getting married (and they are), why all this hype about a shidduch crisis? All it does is let armchair pundits to give all kinds of pathetic “boich svaros” why there is a crisis that doesn’t, in reality, exist.

morah – And there are more people making shidduchim today than in the past. But proportionally the marriage rate is no less today than in the past.

old man: What do you mean by “intuition”? Same with “historical”. Please elaborate.

And if “sociological” factors are part of the psak, the psak would make clear what “sociological factors” it is taking into account. In the absence of such a disclaimer, it can be assumed it isn’t at play.

There are two reasons some people are pushing this. 1) It’s so rare in the frum world such a thing 2) They hate frum people and want to make it seem this isn’t rare.

This type of stuff is not rare outside the frum world.

Since this is man bites dog, its going around. Otherwise it wouldn’t.

A dream depends on how you interpret it. Also, in a dream there is a piece of untruth in the general truth of the dream.

Here is how I’ve interpreted your dream:

You will indeed come into a significant amount of money as per your dream. Yet the part about the friend passing is incorrect. It meant that his illness left him and he became well.

Perhaps a solution is to tell the shadchan no, let her advise the other side no with a canned reason, then afterwards (maybe a week later) give her a better reason for her purposes only that won’t get back to the other side.
