a ferd is a ferd, nisht val ehr alein aiz a ferd, nor veil zein mameh iz a ferd.
ToiParticipantoomis- that approach is correct. one should, however, have in mind at the actual naming of the child that the name for someone not frum should not be referring to the grandparent but to some tzadekes with that name.
ToiParticipant42- i thought of that too.
ToiParticipantim sure many gedolim pass through your checkout line.
ToiParticipantmazel tov
ToiParticipanti like this thread cuz i can pick my nose and eat it too!
ToiParticipantrf- point is herzls vision of the future jewish people, by extension the vision he tried to propagate, and by extension the vision of a zionist state had nothing to do with yiddishkeit. no one is saying we dont love EY, we just cant understand why loyalty to a rasha and his Godless dogama mst be assumed in order to be allowed to love the land given to us by He whom herzl would soon happily forget.
July 22, 2013 7:59 pm at 7:59 pm in reply to: LET US PROTEST: Major Kosher Supermarkets In Catskills Refuse To Use Price Tags #966777ToiParticipantmove to canada, no more smelly catskill mountains full of noisy smelly Nyers.
ToiParticipant” Those should be plugged out before Shabbos. “
Are you from lakewood? Cuz im being there for shabbos.
ToiParticipantsee!! yichusdik and I were both michaven that american beer bites. we’re quiye happy, thank you.
ToiParticipantif i was american , i would be drinking MGD and coors light. *barf*.
that is sufficient argument; im sure all self-respecting canadians would agree.
ToiParticipantgoq- you also wouldnt call R m solomon by “R mattisyahu” if you met him. im not disagreeing with your point, just the proof you presented.
ToiParticipantnope
ToiParticipantjfem- again, the CC in shmiras halashon says its a good thing. As the popular saying goes, he wrote the book on the subject and is probably a good source.
ToiParticipantrational- honestly, health and katan have been arguing that the state caused the current hatred to wards jews, and you go back them up by citing four arab nations that all kicked out their jews, and all of them conveniently after the states founding. you jsut roved their point. and honestly, herzl took the jew out of judaism.
ToiParticipantthe mesillas yesharim asks the question. gives 2 answers. one is where fried got his song from. 2 is ain hochi nami, but we daven because it gives nachas ruach to HKBH.
ToiParticipantrational- ill leave it to pba, i really hate typing; i stink at it.
ToiParticipantjfem- that CC in shmiras halashon says that one is mechuyav to mock a rasha in order to discourage others from following in his footsteps. i think its pretty applicable.
ToiParticipantCM- thats yeshivishly inaccurate. if you ask any RY over 50, they will tell you that the AH or the chayei adam can be relied on to use as a final psak. it isnt even kluhr the MB meant to decide every case he brings down. youre simply wrong.
ToiParticipantwell, isnt that assuming too much? the direct correlation between the jewish communities ability to live in peace in egypt and their subsequent persecution to the founding of the state should show that that was the cause.
ToiParticipanthow about the fact that jews lived in relativ epeace in egypt until the declaration of the state? thats a pretty decent rays that we can live under them in peace. i think the only shailah would be that theyd probably want to vent 60 years of anger and kill us all, so its not viable, but the etzem co-existence is possible.
ToiParticipantrationalfrummie- you miss the point.
ToiParticipantSam2- i dont think id make a thread. id wait for someone else to and then comment. to me this is a siman, not a sibah, so righting this one wont change anything bi’etzem. i only started this one because it is maddening to see the great meltin pot called the idf still wearing the emperors’ clothes.
ToiParticipantoh please
ToiParticipantcaddict- its not about how naive the recruits were. i also see soldiers here every day with payos. the tayna still stands. maybe they thought that upon induction everyone has to undergo one headshvae. maybe they though the rules changed this year. maybe they were afraid of being court marshalled and thrown in jail for who knows how long in this anti-chareidi country. point is: jewish state, jewish army, bye bye jewish payos.
ToiParticipantjewf- “The only way to defeat them is through war.” no kochi biotzem yodi going on here.
ToiParticipantyichusdik- thats a ridiculous tayna and you know it. how the heck are these kids supposed to know idf regulations? were they supposed to study the rulebook before being inducted by a bunch of lying scumbags. take your head out of the sand! the jewish army of the jewish state cutting off jewish payos! shikur vilo miyayin. you really have an agenda, eh?
ToiParticipantam tho frim
ToiParticipantoomis- what your rov told you is a mifurashe gemara in the last perek of zvachim.

July 17, 2013 8:30 pm at 8:30 pm in reply to: Which is better: a bad chavrusa or no chavrusa? #966366ToiParticipanti agree with you wholeheartedly. again, had she started ate age 9 or 10 like you did, maybe she’d be as good as you, even with all the shortcomings of being a female (sic-jk).
July 17, 2013 7:52 pm at 7:52 pm in reply to: Which is better: a bad chavrusa or no chavrusa? #966364ToiParticipantmigoo- though i am on your side in this discussion, your point is moot. had your cousin spent her last fiftenn years training for those mental gymnastics she would be as good as you, as per your svarah.
ToiParticipantjfem- I heard fromm my wife and sisters that on simchas torah the ONLY thing theyre doing for a couple of hours is watching the men. not davening as part of a tzibbur. and there must be a reason why this idea is not frowned upon, even in yeshivish circles, but you can bet it would never happen the other way around.
July 17, 2013 7:47 pm at 7:47 pm in reply to: Do boys really have the upper hand in shidduchim? #966435ToiParticipantjfem- i know. im suggesting that what you are essentially asking him to do is ignore an issue that he probably dealt with for years and traumatized him; namely, bullying. If OI associates taller, bigger people with bullying then you can assume that although he may be able to interact day-to-day with people, he would not want a person with whom he associates bullying as his spouse. there, i think ive said it well.
July 17, 2013 7:08 pm at 7:08 pm in reply to: Do boys really have the upper hand in shidduchim? #966432ToiParticipantjfem- i agree, but those who were taller were always the ones stuffing his head down the toilet.
ToiParticipantcatching frogs.
July 17, 2013 3:30 pm at 3:30 pm in reply to: Do boys really have the upper hand in shidduchim? #966421ToiParticipantjewishf- im usually very against the whole looks thing as being the koveia for a date, but im really hearing mr illusion here. before anyone decides im lyin, th oilam should know that my wife is about an inch taller than me and i couldnt care less. that being said, this guy is expressing a different problem. i dont think its the fact that he needs to be BMOC, rather that after dealing his whole life being the smallest and probably the picked on dude in class (i commiserate, i was always the fatty) he wants someone to see him not as the little shrimp to be swirlied, but as someone to be looked up to and respected, and it happens to mean to him that she has to be smaller than him. he doesnt really mean skinny lie model perfect, and thats not even the nekuda. it just happens to be the same thing other people want for different reasons.
ToiParticipantMCP- except they are coming from understanding the sugya and you are being megale ponim. theres the chiluk.
ToiParticipantvery moving.
ToiParticipantagain, just ask him about what size he wants, and which publisher. dont assume he wants smaller than chosson size, even if its huge. dont assume he wants the newest printing or the fanciest. ask HIM.
ToiParticipantand here i thought RD was gonna talk about ricotta cheese ashes or something.
ToiParticipantDY- cmon, no props on my joke?
ToiParticipantROB- i thought so. time to stop the propaganda.
ToiParticipantCoooooffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
ToiParticipantROB- again, why arent you in uniform?
ToiParticipantno way jose.
that was funny.
ToiParticipantGoq, you listening?!
ToiParticipantyou wanted a makkor for minhag yisroel torah hu.
ToiParticipantROB- you stam make no sense. why do you not hop on a flight and go enlist. ” G-d forbid that- in cases of pikuach nefesh- one waits for someone else to do it!”
ToiParticipantprobably in the beginning of even shlaimah.
