goq- i know, but still what the heck. should we start calling corn flakes riboflavin?
ToiParticipantim not rascist; i hate everybody equally.
ToiParticipantSam2- lets please not open the can of worms of chassidus. the misnagdim on here, including myself, could fill you in bigtime.
ToiParticipantya my bad…
ToiParticipantROB- im not saying there have never been problems. what i am saying is that the standards they set to obtain a hechsher are remarkably higher. but we digress.
ToiParticipantin australia peppers are called capsicums. what the heck.
ToiParticipantmake that 5.
ToiParticipantthe problem with relying on the rabbanut is that eid echad doesnt help when their is serious chashud. rabbanut places have been found to be compromising on halacha time and again, and their standards and mashgichim are shvach to begin with. but if you believe the state is kadosh vitahor ie mizrachis, then one must eat the hechsher as part of ones commitment to the state. this is common knowledge in israel, if youre not familiar with it, im sorry.
ToiParticipantno
ToiParticipantguys give up. i win.
ToiParticipantROB- my assertion was basedon the fact that people who subscribe to zionist/mizrachi hashkafos are willing to eat food with very questionable status, simply because it has a rabanut. nisht nor dem, they bidavka eat it because it has a rabbanut. I’m not referring at all to the schar of mitzvos, rather those given precedence in the face of other mitzvos because of zionism.
ToiParticipant“Plus, I myself have Sephardic blood. So there.
How important is it to be smart? Would you prefer to be or marry someone smart, or someone good looking, or aidel?
Yes.”
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
ToiParticipantROB- i hear, dont reply to what i actually said. nice.
ToiParticipanthonestly, its getting old.
ToiParticipantrational frummie- the rest of us will just attribute our spelling prowess to our overpowering intellect. i love irony.
ToiParticipantthats funny. in my house we always called it purple cabbage.
ToiParticipantROB-what i wrote wasnt a rant. i generally do not rant, unless i am drunk when i post. what i wrote is entirely true, so much so that a small group of mizrachis actually were mocheh at this trend and tried to start a new hechsher. the fact is, they did make the state into the biggest mitzva and anything that conflicts with their nationalistic values takes a backseat.
ToiParticipantyichusdik- the tzionim have made kivush/the state into an over-riding mitzva. they make anything that has to do with the state kadosh vitahor. biggest raaya is the fact that tzionim and mizrachis are makpid to eat it even though its status is not even questionable, its downright bad. the rabbanut is mi’asher anything with a hechsher from CHU”l, even stuff you wouldnt eat at home. and they eat it. because the state says its ok.
July 28, 2013 10:15 am at 10:15 am in reply to: Why are there religious Jews who are pro-gay marriage? #968472ToiParticipanti think we care specifically here because we view it as concrete evidence of the moral breakdown of the society we live in, where human rights and morals have been ousted by whatever fels good. these ‘goodists’ seek to cloak whatever they feel to be good for them as moral. typical left wing approach.
ToiParticipantben- even acc to R moshe, he means that the etzem maaseh isnt ossur per say. if there would be hirhur that would make it yv”y.
ToiParticipanttwisted- alot of places do.
yitay- maskim.
ToiParticipantyou mean, besides halachic shailos?
ToiParticipantplease
ToiParticipantits muttar for a bunch of reasons.
ToiParticipantyit- they punkt dont sell singles. in EY they do in makolets. its poshut felt in heichi timtza, but i think its still davar shebiminyan.
ToiParticipantROB- or, again, we’re just happy that theres no-one goren-esque skewing halachah to suit the rosh memshala’s whims.
ToiParticipantnisht- its ok, he’s a daas jochid.
ToiParticipantROB- your taanas just get dumber, eh? i think theyre happy that, al kol ponim, the ability to decide and implement changes to laws that have to do with yiddishkeit hasnt fallen to those who would seek to compromise. pretty simple.
July 25, 2013 8:33 pm at 8:33 pm in reply to: Question about a Chazan leaving during tefillah #967611ToiParticipanthonestly, whenever that came up in mizbe’ach shenifgam, i just bursted out laughing. i dont know why but i find the menatl image of esrogim clouding the sky and crashing down on the poor guy hysterical.
ToiParticipantSam2- “Everyone in this thread is dead wrong.”
I disagree. kicking’em while theyre down is a sound strategy.
ToiParticipantthats stinks. im in EY (as my pics will show when maybe allowed), and wont see them till tomorrow morning. can I link my flickr account?
ToiParticipanteasy raya is the fact that the gemara says that kohanim eat neveila when eating a chatas ha’of.
ToiParticipantomg i mamesh know, right?
ToiParticipant“M’deoraisa, chicken is Pareve”
Many yidin today were not m’kabel this g’zeira d’rabanon which not only means to them that chicken is pareve but also that chicken does not require sh’chitah.
either this is sarcastic. i hope. or youre a buck am haaretz.
ToiParticipantwhen i started i was into landscapes, i guess cuz you can control relatively all aspects of the picture. lately i got into portraits and abstract random pictures. also some street photography. i for the life of me cant understand people who take pictures of birds, and only birds. i shoot with a nikon D50 with the kit 18-55, a 50mm 1.8, and a 55-200mm VR. i also have 2 old manual everything lenses which i got to force myself to figure out exposure properly. a couple filters and a tripod. hopefully im done buying. what about you?
ToiParticipantguess we’ll re-bury it then, eh?
ToiParticipantthats pretty funny. i post the word heck on here at least once a week. this time i got edited. and the word in the butcher article wasnt edited. aha.
ToiParticipantkick’em while theyre down, i always say.
ToiParticipantnothing in particular.
ToiParticipantsyag- +1, im gonna have my daughter pack on some pounds, thanks for the idea.
ToiParticipant“is what allows those ingrates to continue sitting in the kollel”
watch yourself.
ToiParticipanti think that site is awful. although it is pretty kosher, the articles they publish are so newbie-ish theyre mostly not worth reading. anyway…
ToiParticipantor a muzzle.
ToiParticipantcharlie- well put
ToiParticipantI’m going to try and revive this thread. The wolf posted that he’s interested in photography, and ive had my camera out for the last week, in honor of bein hazmanim. Anyone still interested?
ToiParticipantwolf- can we shmooze photography? i started a thread awhile ago on it but it died.
ToiParticipanti dont have it. guess ill have to start waiting 6 hours.
ToiParticipantnisht- im not arguing on your position, but how Edited do you know how they primarily defined themselves? ver hut eich gizugt?
ToiParticipantmy wife taaynas that kalei tzom does work. its alot of natural ichy sounding stuff.
ToiParticipantyoure right. this story is so convincing, im gonna go right now and enlist. are you high?
