ToiParticipantcharlie- i dont think he meant it was a good thing. he just meant that although a crucial element of his avodah was lacking, this RY didnt see that as negating his chiyuv to learn alot.
ToiParticipantnisht- really, chill.
ToiParticipantdy-I too have heard of people getting married, knowing that they will divorce after sheva berachos.

Will you ever stop? will you blame anything you deem to be a failure on those awful frummies? can you not allow the D”L the dignity of being able to make their own decisions? put a sock in it.
ToiParticipantmdd- no it doesnt. the chasam sofer says it means to never judge. you can never be in the place someone else is.

ToiParticipantlev aryeh- my thoughts exactly. i was always the guy to do grammen in yeshiva. i would cringe when people would rhyme one syllable poshut words.

August 18, 2013 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm in reply to: Wishing PM Netanyahu Mazal on Reaching Peace with the Palestinians #971138ToiParticipantrational- i dont believe they are. and i dont believe they (the establishment) really care an ounce for yiddishe blood. theres enough documentation of what occured during the holocaust to support that.
jfem- my point is not about their right to exist. far be it from me to condemn people to death. i just dont see how the army coming out in support of these people and them being accepted with open arms is how an army G-d supposedly supports is to act. imagine how you would feel if a couple hundred soldiers decided to publicize their taavos for children, even if they didnt act on it. its a skewed and distorted, western idea of how to approach the subject. in last weeks parshah we read how anyone who had aveiros was told to go home. hirhurei aveira, specifally when you are proud of it, cannot be ignored.
ToiParticipanti dont really understand why open kfira is being allowed in the form of academic discussion. didnt someone named farber just get smashed for expressing the same? denying any one letter in the torah makes one a kofer. you can have whatever opinions you want, but why this site should be a theater for the absurd is beyond me. and honestly, if you really have questions, and you genuinely want to know the answers to your questions, not just use them a a right to openly defy the dvar Hashem, get in touch with one of the many people who deal with such sfeikos and ask them everything thats ever troubled you.
ToiParticipantGAW- i honestly stopped reading the articles from EY because it appears to be written and edited by a 4th grader. i honestly debated emailing ywn offering to edit their EY stuff. i have done work editing english seforim for publication. suffice it to say i use caps and punctuation when on the job, al tidag.
ToiParticipanttruth- on the money.
ToiParticipantthats weird. i dont have dinner on shabbos. i have a shabbos seuda.

August 14, 2013 5:32 pm at 5:32 pm in reply to: Wishing PM Netanyahu Mazal on Reaching Peace with the Palestinians #971131ToiParticipantavi k- but the people who make up that army will not be those who forcibly remove the few full time torah learners from the beis medrash, nor will it be made up of those who proudly parade how they flaunt the will of G-d for the pleasures of this world. do you really think that an army that sanctions the presence of gay soldiers among their ranks can be tied to moshiach?
ToiParticipantgrape soda
mmm hmmm
