The word discriminate means simply to tell apart despite its negative connotations. Yes Labels were made to discriminate, that is in essence the definition of a label. However, a lot of time it is OK to label people. If someone is labelled as a drug dealer, chances are even if they are clean cut and sharp, you would not want a family member to marry them without knowing that knowledge first. I agree negative labels are sometimes thrown around too much. But that shouldnt allow us to get rid of labelling altogether.
