    “my favorite tree is oak”

Mine are dogwoods, they’re gorgeous. Pink in the spring, green summertime, and burgundy in the fall.

I also love the maple tree, especially when I’m out of town, I ‘pine’ for them.

“I’m not really sure what your issue is. Nobody has ever complained about not giving consent for changes”

I clearly remember reading another members surprise at getting a subtitle without being asked. Sorry I don’t remember who or in which thread.

Whatever newbees opinions are, it’s not nice to give him a name he finds offensive. I vote you remove it.

Posters are often surprised, but I myself do not recall anyone commenting on it being done without consent as that is rarely if ever the practice. Either way, I had removed it immediately. I do appreciate, however, your coming to his defense. It is a beautiful midda that I would love to see more often among us, so thank you.

I agree with ubiquitin on both points. I take issue though with suggesting he be proud of being a Christmas tree, that’s too much.

I remember learning that if a person works hard on a certain middah than it will be inherited by his/her children. Meaning the children will have the middah naturally without having to work hard for it. I don’t know the source. Other than I heard it in high school many years ago. Anyone heard of this or know a source?

Sorry M, there is nothing respectful in the way you chose to bring up this issue.

The point is that he didn’t think of himself as Jewish if he was already converted as a child, he didn’t run as a Jew for office.

I am uncomfortable with having a Jewish president altogether. We are in Galus and the goyim have enough crazy theories about the Jews (elders of Zion comes to mind) without there being a Jew in the top position. In addition, a Jew like Sanders would be careful to prove that he isn’t being partial to Jews, and would probably be tougher on Israel than a goy.

In my family teenage girls dress up if they want to but not to shul, or outside. just at home and at the extended family meal. (which at this point is in a hall since nobody has a home large enough to accommodate the crowd.)

The year I got married, my sister a teen at the time dressed up as a man, in my new husbands cloths. She came into my parents dining room and walked right up to our father with outstretched palm for tzaddakah. (she didn’t open her mouth as her voice would give her away.) Although she didn’t have her face covered her tatte didn’t recognize her. That was a laugh.

My teenage girls like to put on big hats, long queer earrings (one looks like a bug…) and such stuff.

    “Mind going into details?”

It was a while ago, and I had a newborn at the time, so my memory is a little hazy. I remember big whole fish in ice in a show window. The items were displayed beautifully. Many spacious isles filled with everything you could want. There was also a screen where you can electronically, not sure what. The place looked like a present tied up in a ribbon.
