nice peshetl squeak.
The QueenParticipantYou are supposed to use the last letter of the city, in this case you would need to post a place that starts with an M.
P.S. I heard that you are not supposed to call cities other than Yerushalayim, Ir Hakodesh.
The QueenParticipant29: how come some posts are highlighted in yellow until they are approved, and others just have the name highlighted?
If you are referring to two consecutive posts, it is because every other post is shaded and the yellowing of the shaded post looks like only the name is yellow.
The QueenParticipantThanks zichmich.
The QueenParticipant“It seems perhaps we have a misandrist viewpoint to balance out the mysogynist ones here.”
Sorry you are have it wrong. Just for the record, I am going on vacation iy”H and my husband is staying home with the family.
The QueenParticipantMD: “What if she doesn’t want to go?”
A husband offers to stay home with the family so his wife can take a vacation and the wife doesn’t want to go? Unless, the wife has a valid reason why she can’t go, my first assumption would be that she doesn’t trust her husband to take over.
The QueenParticipant“a man has to be out at least thrice daily… every day.”
That is why women are not mechuyav to daven with minyan thrice daily, and why Tattys weren’t meant to be Mommies. (or mommies, tatties.
The QueenParticipantDisclaimer: Women can have jobs of course. Part time I would hope while they are raising their children. (so the children actually get to spend time with mommy) and sometimes it is necessary to cover the bills even with the husband bringing in a paycheck. The question is who is shouldering the burden and who is helping out as necessary.
The QueenParticipant” a lot of the “juggling” is likely due to lack of experience and routine.”
Or simply a lack of hours in the day to accomplish everything.
“Parents are big boys and girls, and they can make their own decisions and work things out together so everyone is able to thrive.”
Unless of course the shidduch was made on the premise that the wife will work. Many girls pressured by the shidduch crisis, and having no idea what they are getting themselves into, agree at the shidduch to shoulder the ol parnossah.
I know a woman of a large family who juggles two jobs, and has no option to discontinue, because at her shidduch she agreed to support her husband.
The QueenParticipantDash: Do you mind sharing how you make those symbols?
The QueenParticipantLF: You have my sympathies. Just want to point out that at this point in time many of our yiddishe mammas are required to work. And your two weeks of juggling is what their regular life looks like. This is the reason I don’t think it is fair for men to place the responsibility of parnossah on their wives. Raising a family is a full time job and bringing parnossah is another full time job. Hashem created a family with a father and a mother for a reason.
To all the men who want to weigh in, first send your wife on a two week vacation. Then we’ll talk.
The QueenParticipantFrom the looks of it, Frogette really needed that vacation. So it wasn’t a mistake to send her. Now that you have an inkling of what she deals with, you’ll hopefully send her every so often to recharge.
PS. How are you enjoying the laundry?? meals maila, you can get away with cornflakes.
The QueenParticipantDY: Thank you. Figured must have been a messy meal ?
The QueenParticipant“In any case, we Actually do have a nice chant for VBH, as well as for ?????? ??? ???. It’s not a tune, but it works very well.”
Us too. It’s a tradition from the elter Zeida.
The QueenParticipantThis year at simchas torah I watched a teen almost drop a torah. It was too heavy for him. Light is good.
The QueenParticipantI remember hearing once at a melaveh malka a story:
Once a visitor came knocking at the door of a guy who had saved up a small fortune. He said to the woman who came to the door, “your husband requested that you give me the money” The wife obviously refused. So the the visitor said “your husband gave me a sign that you should believe me, you had such and such for dinner (meatballs and spaghetti?) So the wife believed him and handed over the money. The husband came home, and the wife told him that she gave the money as he requested. The husband flew into a rage and killed his wife. The thief had seen the remnants of the meal on the husbands face, and used the information to trick the wife.
Therefore, men wash mayim achronim.
The QueenParticipantJerusalem, Israel
Ir Hakodesh
The QueenParticipantMaybe yes maybe not. That’s for a rav to pasken.
The QueenParticipantAt the end of the day, even for people thinking there is nothing wrong with having the OU symbol on a package containing food that isn’t certified, and the shopper should take responsibility for what he buys. There is an inyan of not putting a stumbling block in front of a blind person. If people mistakenly ate non kosher food because of this. That alone is reason to stop the practice.
The QueenParticipantCoffee:
1) I do vote. I consider it a civic duty. I also register my children to vote when they turn 18. We actually make a mini family trip out of it. Saying not inclined to vote doesn’t translate necessarily into not voting.
2) Sorry I can’t comment on what Hashem wants to do regarding America, I am not a secretary upstairs, I didn’t received the memo.
The QueenParticipant“Who says, maybe the 8 years of Obama mortally wounded us and trump or Hillary will be the death blow”
‘?? ????? ????? ??? ?
The QueenParticipantI have never felt less inclined to vote. There is comfort in knowing that we survived 8 years of Obama. So if Trump or Hillary win, we’ll grit and bear it.
The QueenParticipantMaybe we need a new game.
The QueenParticipantDoes anyone know if Trump weighed in on the OU hashgacha?
The QueenParticipantApushatayid: Yidden don’t belong in a McDonald, I don’t think it’s a good comparison.
The QueenParticipantDY:
“Someone incapable of properly reading a food package, whether due to time, reading, language, or other limitations should not be making purchasing decisions.”
So if you are stranded in France because of engine trouble and need to buy some food to tide you over Shabbos, you will choose to fast over Shabbos if you can’t read French? Sounds pretty simple minded to me.
I suggest in this case you simply try to find a local heimish hechsher on the packaging and leave the OU on the shelf, in case the whole package isn’t kosher.
The QueenParticipantDY: I hear you, and no I didn’t see the packaging. For someone who takes the time to look at the front and notices no OU symbol, then turns the package around to the back, notices 3 panels, one of which sports an OU symbol it may be fine.
However, I don’t think you have to be very stupid not to realize that the OU symbol is only for some of the food in the package. It may be a person in a hurry, a child taught to find the symbol before buying food. A dyslexic who can find the symbol but can’t read the packaging, a non English speaker who can find the symbol on the package. I’m sure you can come up with more examples.
The QueenParticipant“Perhaps you’re correct, and I overestimate people’s intelligence, diligence, or both.”
I think it is very straight forward. A kosher symbol appears on a package, most people will assume the package has the hechsher of the kosher symbol. Unless you are interested in the ingredients, for allergy or health reasons, many people do not pay attention to these panels and lists when making their purchases. They scan the package, find the symbol and buy and eat. OU has an achryus to consumers who rely on their hechsher.
The QueenParticipantAnd OU shouldn’t agree to have their symbol on a package that contains food without their hashgacha.
February 29, 2016 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm in reply to: Biggest news to occur in the frum world since Oreos became kosher #1139480The QueenParticipant??? ????
The QueenParticipantRight. Still, having an OU symbol on a package ( I don’t care where) can cause people to eat food without a hechsher and is therefore not right.
The QueenParticipant29: I’m not convinced. I agree with bar abba. A person spots the OU symbol whether in front back side top or bottom, grabs it and buys. He doesn’t necessarily spend any time analyzing the package or reading it. It is misleading to put the OU on the package if not everything inside is OU.
The QueenParticipantIt is misleading to put an OU symbol on a packaging if not everything in the package is OU.
The QueenParticipant“Babies also smell gross and are stupid”
Maybe your babies! Ever heard of baby lotion? Babies are bright and beautiful. How some of them end up gross and stupid when they grow up is an anomaly.
The QueenParticipantThere has to be an easier way! I can’t look through 8 pages before I post.

My husband’s Zeida’s town.
The QueenParticipantHope you don’t mind me saying, the Ben ish chai was a Sefardi Chacham from Iraq so his Torah probably wouldn’t be called chassidus.
The QueenParticipantThe one with the Hawaiian girl for the nostalgia.

The QueenParticipantI don’t like ‘assuming’ what is the halacha do you know?
Sure he knows, and he has been hoping someone would ask. That’s why he keeps resubmitting this subject in posts and threads, am I right Joe?
The QueenParticipantI lived next to a nice goyish family who owned 2 little dogs and my kids enjoyed playing with them outside. We never ‘went over’ to them. No, I would not come over, or let my kids come over, if you owned a dog. Sorry for my narrow mindedness.
The QueenParticipantGit Shabbos. Rest up.
The QueenParticipantJoseph: As I said I don’t know the halacha. In an emergency would you grab your baby out of the fire or a stranger first. Would you call your rav to get a psak first under the circumstances?

and therefore… It was changed
The QueenParticipantI don’t know the halacha, but I would hope that my father, mother, husband, sister, brother, daughter, or son would try to save me before they save a stranger. I would definitely save them first, what’s even the question?

“Thanks, I appreciate it.”
You’re welcome. I was actually asking them to remove the ‘do not touch’ subtitle which was pretty obnoxious. I missed the tree one. mazel tov on your latest sub title. How many titles can one person get? Maybe you win the prize for the most titles now!
The intent was not to be obnoxious, it was supposed to be humerus and was a referencing the subtitle, not the poster
