The QueenParticipant
I feel sorry for the girl who only wants a full time forever learner, and then one morning wakes up nauseous out of her mind and must get to work, to support her family. What a rude surprise of what real life looks like.
No time in history have women been expected to earn a living so their husbands can learn. It is scandalous! Women have to bare children, raise them, and run a household, which is a full time and exhausting project on its own. Adding to it the responsibility of parnossah is simply not fair to women.
My zeida O”H told me that when he was in shidduchim no girl was interested in a boy who couldn’t support her. He worked hard and learned more hours a day than the average kollel fellow.
This without even taking the children into account, who are being raised by babysitters 9-5 and then brought home to an exhausted mommy.
The QueenParticipantOne of my childhood memories is Shabbos morning after a blizzard hit, the snow was waist high for grown men. We stood by the window and watched all the men plowing there way out of their homes with their bodies, and neighbors helping to pull each other out to the road which was already plowed, the road being after an ample front yard. None of the men stayed home.

If you don’t believe in daas torah, I assume you believe the concept expired, as in not shayach in 2016. Doesn’t asei lecha rav = daas torah?
The QueenParticipantnone intended!
The QueenParticipantAnd thank you Hashem that snow is white. Imagine if snow was black!
The QueenParticipantLay low until he can leave the states, for his own good. Then let’s hear the truth.

I agree with you 100%. Every person according to their daas torah, with no yid bashing another person’s daas torah.

No it wouldn’t be nice. Maybe you can say there is a more modern crowd there. (if there is)
The QueenParticipantI did have a friend in seminary with a last name Joseph. I didn’t think of that possibility.
The QueenParticipantOr maybe he simply has a mind of his own and isn’t so hung up about doing what “everyone” does.
The QueenParticipantwhat are the rules?

He is welcome to come clean the palace.

No matter how wonderful a musician you are, unless you are the son of a Levi, you couldn’t join. Yiddishkeit isn’t America with equal rights. It’s about equal responsibility to do G-d’s will.

Why are you upset that they are called Rebbetzin? like Rebbetzin Zahava Braunstein, or (lehavdil) Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis. Do you want women to be called Mr. instead of Mrs. also?
No reason to be ashamed of the title Rebbetzin, there are some very Choshuva women with the title.
The QueenParticipantTel Aviv
The QueenParticipantaha. Thanks
aza langa maseh just to get something italicized or bolded? Which century are we in?
The QueenParticipantLet’s make this more interesting by trying to stay in the same country for as long as possible. (America is too easy)
Tiberias (Tveria) Israel
The QueenParticipantHow do you strong em?
The QueenParticipantVisiting my grandparents and getting sick in the wagon. Couldn’t stomach the smell of the horses 😉

January 20, 2016 4:10 am at 4:10 am in reply to: Questions About Monsey's Litvish/Chasidish Sociological Mix #1132864The QueenParticipantMods, why is it ok to label derogatively an entire community of yidden? Is that not loshon Hora?
When you find it necessary to edit a debate over who is the best singer, with nothing derogatory having been said about either singer?
What are the standards in this coffee room?

My daughter was kind enough to enlighten me to what the derogatory title Tuna bagel implies. I’m surprised the Mods are letting this whole thread here, when they edit some comments which are a lot more benign.
The QueenParticipantJoseph: If you had posted Ruzhyn a week ago and again today, I’d let it go, but you posted Ruzhyn yesterday!

You haven’t had any conversation with me, yet you have no problem sorting me into a box.

If I like tuna that makes me a “tuna type”?
Have you had a conversation that lasted for more than 10 minutes with any of the people whom you are putting into various boxes, before the sorting?

The QueenParticipantAvi: “Queen, for that matter all American universities required their students to study Tanach in Hebrew”
The emblem of Yale University has the words urim vetumim in Hebrew lettering in a Luchos.
The QueenParticipantI said all along that chances are a yid is the best singer.
The QueenParticipantThe shower is a great place for singing. Try also the Shabbos tish.
The QueenParticipantScranton

The QueenParticipantRabbi Ken Spiro has very interesting lectures on this topic. The constitution was based on Jewish thinking. The Luchos was the first idea for the American emblem before the eagle was decided upon.
