Way too many shlichei tzibbur mispronounce Hakadosh Baruch Hu’s name. It is with a cholam (Adonai), not a cheerek (Adeenai).
I believe the tzibbur is not even allowed to answer Amen when it’s mispronounced. The FrumguyParticipantYes, there are ads, including a movie theater (FEH — TRAIF!).
The FrumguyParticipantIt is put out by folks that have NO CLUE as to what’s going on in Flatbush. Although the neighborhood is turning more frum, they insist on TV schedules, sports “star” interviews, glorifying Medinas Yisroel and plagiarizing the letters sent in to this very Coffee Room.
July 19, 2018 7:28 am at 7:28 am in reply to: Need Help with a 6:30AM Shachris Minyan Brooklyn #1561403The FrumguyParticipantHow long does the davening take?
The FrumguyParticipantMazal Tov CTLAWYER. What’s a “Yuntif??”
The FrumguyParticipantjakob:
I assume you mean Motzei Yom Tov Sunday night?
I’m also not looking for a full-catered meal — I see macaroons & seltzer playing a big part. The FrumguyParticipantThe FrumguyParticipantEsrog Jam is really one of the vilest, most sour tastes that I’ve ever tried.
I save the esrog and burn it with my chametz on Erev Pesach. The FrumguyParticipantI don’t even see any advertisements for a concert this coming Chol Hamo’ed. Unheard of!
The FrumguyParticipantI’ve used both and have always gone back to bamboo poles. They seem to hold up better and, believe it or not, are easier to put up.
The FrumguyParticipantDovidBT:
And what does the fellow sitting next to you in shul think of the constant metronome hocking?
The FrumguyParticipantHi there, CTLawyer:
Do you mind giving free consultations to readers of The Coffee Room? Isn’t that what you went to school to have a profession? If you don’t mind, may you continue doing many more chassadim.
The FrumguyParticipantBut, Joseph, it isn’t a law — just a suggestion.
July 27, 2017 11:59 am at 11:59 am in reply to: Petira of R Meir Goldberg Administration Vaad Harabonim of Flatbush #1326371The FrumguyParticipantI did some work for him at the Vaad and he was a real mentsch. He truly raised the level of kashrus in the Flatbush community. I hope that the Vaad continues in his way.
The FrumguyParticipantI agree 100% that curling peyos is Levush of a woman.
April 23, 2017 9:52 pm at 9:52 pm in reply to: Question for those who favor vanilla over chocolate #1260587The FrumguyParticipantSweetness over bitterness.
The FrumguyParticipantThey also changed the configuration — they’re much smaller.
The FrumguyParticipantI currently Norton Internet Security installed Is that any good?
The FrumguyParticipantI’ve been using CCLeaner. It doesn’t seem to affect the internet speed.
The FrumguyParticipantA little help with the locations, please.
The FrumguyParticipantHey, lilmod ulelamaid: Count the number of letters in umbrella…
The FrumguyParticipantI really enjoy doing that – I know exactly what you mean.
The FrumguyParticipantI meant the night before.
The FrumguyParticipantBut why apples?
And who said that Sherayim is allowed to be “thrown and fought over by the chassidim of the Rebbe?” It is food, after all.
The FrumguyParticipantI never thought that there would be so many of you out there that would agree with my assessment!
My follow-up question is, naturally: who has a dentist’s name (preferably frum and in Brooklyn) that they wholeheartedly trust? By the way, I’m also looking for a reliable, honest car mechanic.
The FrumguyParticipantIt would probably be a chatzitzah for my tefillin shel rosh.
The FrumguyParticipantAbba_S:
As I mentioned originally, places that conduct Tefillos and Limud Torah do have a Kedusha. I’m specifically talking about cemeteries and kevorim.
The FrumguyParticipantLet’s try to stay on the topic. The word “Zionism” doesn’t appear anywhere in my opening post. I’m just focusing in on the concept of Kedusha.
June 27, 2016 8:24 pm at 8:24 pm in reply to: Are the Agudah and Rabbinical Council of America Connected? #1157877The FrumguyParticipantAgudah has a more Chareidi clientele and the RCA caters to the Modern Orthodox.
The FrumguyParticipantWhy do think you DON’T want to? Do you feel that it’s against custom? If so, then perhaps you’d feel more comfortable in a traditional, Orthodox shul.
Hatzlacha.
The FrumguyParticipantRead about what Reb Moshe ZT”L said about shtenders in Tiferes Yerushalayim. He was very much against them.
The FrumguyParticipantI’m more for bein adam l’chaveiro and achudus, than some over-the-top chumra.
The FrumguyParticipantAnd how do you intend to match singles? The moderators won’t allow any inter-communication.
March 22, 2016 9:13 pm at 9:13 pm in reply to: Does anyone have Inyan from two weeks ago?????? #1143057The FrumguyParticipantI think I have it — but how do I get it to you??
The FrumguyParticipantDo you really think that these ads will accomplish anything? If they want to drink and possibly endanger themselves, they’ll find a way, unfortunately.
The FrumguyParticipantThere were issues raised a number of years ago. Hence, they lost nearly all of the frum clientele.
For your information, the gates have been down on the store for quite a few months now — they seem to have gone out of business.
The FrumguyParticipantThis story is so upsetting to me. I empathize with you mazal77 – you are in the right 100%.
Regarding being oveir any issur, I’m sure that since we hold of Dina Dimalchusa Dina, the store owner is certainly wrong on that account.
If you could (or should) report the owner to the Dept. of Consumer Affairs is proof that he did something against the law. There are many sources in Chazal which discuss misleading a potential buyer.
I hope that you told the owner or manager that “he lost a customer, with a whole family of eye glass wearers.”
The FrumguyParticipantI’ll probably go with whoever is the Republican nominee — I’d prefer Cruz. JEWS FOR CRUZ!!
The FrumguyParticipantLike sheldy said: a video — it’s a nice treat to be able to view a video (even home made) of the wedding itself.
The FrumguyParticipantJews for Cruz!!
The FrumguyParticipantYou’re treading on thin ice, Daniell11.
The FrumguyParticipantJEWS FOR CRUZ!!!
The FrumguyParticipantDoes someone know how the name of Rappaport came to be associated with Kohanim? Is it just a widely-held “mesorah”?
The FrumguyParticipantJoseph: I’m asking for the origin — why have Yeshivas used this term?
Hey, popa: Who is working at night — bakers, policeman??
The FrumguyParticipantI’m sure the Artscroll folks paid a graphic designer a nice sum to come up with something pleasing to the eye, which it certainly is. Everything they put out strives to be perfect.
147 –
I don’t think it’s right or mentchlich to deride Artscroll. They aren’t dictating anything and I would venture to say they are the biggest, most professional, most-used seforim publishers in the world.
The FrumguyParticipantBoth are audio editing programs.
The FrumguyParticipantMaybe this link will help – http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/windows-10-opinions.
So far I’ve encountered two of my programs that aren’t compatible with Windows 10.
The FrumguyParticipantI’m not so sure that Yeshiva Chaim Berlin is 100% pure Minhagei H’Gra.
What should a Gabbai do when someone goes against the minhag hamakom?
The FrumguyParticipantIt is mil’rah with the accent on the nun.
The FrumguyParticipantOf course there are the incidents of the Kohanim who used to push to do parts of the Avodah which resulted in deaths, Lo Aleinu.
