Yes, there are ads, including a movie theater (FEH — TRAIF!).
It is put out by folks that have NO CLUE as to what’s going on in Flatbush. Although the neighborhood is turning more frum, they insist on TV schedules, sports “star” interviews, glorifying Medinas Yisroel and plagiarizing the letters sent in to this very Coffee Room.

Esrog Jam is really one of the vilest, most sour tastes that I’ve ever tried.
I save the esrog and burn it with my chametz on Erev Pesach.I’ve used both and have always gone back to bamboo poles. They seem to hold up better and, believe it or not, are easier to put up.

I did some work for him at the Vaad and he was a real mentsch. He truly raised the level of kashrus in the Flatbush community. I hope that the Vaad continues in his way.

Why do think you DON’T want to? Do you feel that it’s against custom? If so, then perhaps you’d feel more comfortable in a traditional, Orthodox shul.

Do you really think that these ads will accomplish anything? If they want to drink and possibly endanger themselves, they’ll find a way, unfortunately.
There were issues raised a number of years ago. Hence, they lost nearly all of the frum clientele.
For your information, the gates have been down on the store for quite a few months now — they seem to have gone out of business.

Regarding being oveir any issur, I’m sure that since we hold of Dina Dimalchusa Dina, the store owner is certainly wrong on that account.
If you could (or should) report the owner to the Dept. of Consumer Affairs is proof that he did something against the law. There are many sources in Chazal which discuss misleading a potential buyer.
I hope that you told the owner or manager that “he lost a customer, with a whole family of eye glass wearers.”

Does someone know how the name of Rappaport came to be associated with Kohanim? Is it just a widely-held “mesorah”?
I’m sure the Artscroll folks paid a graphic designer a nice sum to come up with something pleasing to the eye, which it certainly is. Everything they put out strives to be perfect.

I don’t think it’s right or mentchlich to deride Artscroll. They aren’t dictating anything and I would venture to say they are the biggest, most professional, most-used seforim publishers in the world.
Both are audio editing programs.
