    Daas Yochid,

I was saying that if he saw someplace that Noshim are indeed Patur, the only context he would have seen it would be that it is usually not her Chiyuv, unless she’s living alone.

As for the Gemara, as you said, it was not a Hava Amina, only a question as to why it is not the case. The Gemara in Kedushin, though, is talking before we established that Zman Grama is a Ptur.

Yes, anonymity is a real, non-negative word.

If I’m in that situation, I’d probably introduce myself, if applicable.

Since the question is about which Middah would make someone beautiful and not what the best or most important Middah is, I’d say that a happy person fits that bill.

That is only for the one line

    getGlassOf(this.thirsty? water : null)

However, if you’d write out the

    if (this.thirsty)

    getGlassOf(water)

you wouldn’t need the empty one. On the other hand, thinking like a programmer you’d say it’s simpler to just bring two.

Is there an actual difference in process time between the two methods, Zach?

For 12, besides for the 12 borders on a cube and the Shvatim and everything that is K’neged them, there are 12 P’shutim years in the 19 year cycle.

As for 11, the sun’s spot cycle is 11 years. The Brachos and Klalos at Har Grizim were 11.

    mbachur,

That’s precisely why they would be Patur. Since the Mitzva is for the owner of the house that would make it the husband’s Chiyuv. If a woman is living alone then she, being the owner, is the one Mechuyav.

Nine Midos are mentioned by Moshe Rabbeinu after the Chet Ha’egel.

There are nine Dibros according to those who can’t figure out how Anochi is a Dibur.

There are nine Maymaros that say Vayomer, by the Bria.

Nine is the width of Og Melech Haboshon’s bed, or crib. Nine is also the notes in Missorsky’s atonal scale.

The ibn Ezra writes that if you make two columns of the numbers until nine you get the product of nine multiplied by each. For example, 9*1 = 9, 9*2 = 18, 9*3 = 27, 9*4 = 36. The same is for the other way, 9*6 = 54, 9*7 = 63, 72, 81, 90.

They used to call anyone with the same IP as him, Joseph. I think/hope they don’t do that anymore, which makes the job much harder. However, there is an underlying style that shines through eventually that has his mark. He might have sleeper names that shouldn’t appear suspicious when it shows up after a blocking, and if he’s sly enough he might have some names that he manages to retain his style.

If you find a stray nuetron waiting to make a nucleous unstable, cover it with a Keli until Chol Hamoed, when you will burn it, releasing it to the atmosphere. On the other hand, if you hear of Chometz having excaped through some chimney, put on you haz-mat suit and find shelter, and don’t go outside until the Rabbonim announce, on Kol Mevaser that it is safe to venture outside, for ten minutes a day.

My question was addressing was only about what you mentioned in passing, that you bother people during Leining with your talking. You also mentiion that in that shul there is no other talking. My question is, in what way are you disturbing them, what are they trying to do that you interrupted? As far as I understand, everyone wants to hear you talk.

And when Reb Chiya wrote and travelled and taught Torah, why couldn’t he depend on the fact that if they were interested they would find him? To make Kiruv into a problem is turning things on their head. If you don’t feel up to doing it yourself that’s fine, but to go another couple of steps and say that it’s a bad thing is over the edge.

Oh my. People really take this (virtual) place seriously. I’ve seen Joseph being called an Achzor and Assur Lerachem Alov because he makes multiple screen names. Now this, you go to Gehenom for making a thread title that doesn’t describe the content well enough? Will the moderators be the judges in the Bes Din Shel Maala?

I didn’t look at the other thread until it closed. There is one thing that should be taken into account when you see a large number of ‘Shtick’ coming from one neighborhood: The word of mouth factor is much stronger than anywhere else. If one person in Boro Park hears about an opportunity, it doesn’t take long till everyone hears of it. Therefore, those who are predisposed to take advantage of certain offers have a lot of opportunities to do so.

This is besides the famous Morah Heter that you are not robbing a ‘person’, and not ‘really robbing’. The fact is that these people would never shoplift.

in reply to: Sparkley Eyes #760160

As far as the eyes being the window to the soul, the Halacha is that on Shabbos we consider anything in the eyes to be a Sakana because, as the Gemara says, the eyes are rooted in the heart. Also, the Pasuk says, Ha’adam Yira’a La’einayim Viha’elokim Yir’a Laleivav. So I guess that’s as good a view we get.

On a plain level, you can see someone’s alertness in their eyes. Kindness is also visible in the eyes. The Gemara says that a cow has different eyes once it carried a yoke. I guess that’s where “Jewish eyes” come from.
