The protagonist in the story wasn’t saying that the Yetzer Hara has a Yetzer Hara for some things but not for others.

That’s silly. A Yetzer Hara is what prevents one from doing his job. When he got his Taava, that was his job.

To let me know what the Shulchan Aruch says, a friend is enough. Paskenning means his ????? ???? confess into play.

About your supposed irony, my point is that a Kehilla following a Rav will centralize the Torah, although we don’t have everyone following one Beis Din which would give complete centralization. But at least as closer to it as possible. It’s ironic that you would see the medicine as the disease.

keep in mind he gets to keep anything she earns during marriage, if not for the kesuba a divorced woman would be penniless.

That’s silly. Without the Kesubah her money would remain hers and his would remain his. The Kesubah is the contract of marriage, not divorce.

Rav Chisdai is the one who, after writing that it doesn’t make sense, writes that he heard that Al Pi Kabbalah it is true and if so ?? ???? ????.

That would be the reaction of anyone who is not versed in Kabbalah but found out a certain aspect of it, which is exactly why I said that quoting those from beforehand is irrelevant, since we already know it is not in Nigleh.

And by the way, my statement about how Rav Saadya Gaon’s refutation is not a Stira to Gilgul, would also answer the Ikkrim’s Kasha.

Where is the actual ??”? ?????

I think you’d be hard pressed to find mainstream, Mesora conscious Rabbanim that would be against it. It is already mentioned by almost anyone we look up to, such as the Arizal, Beis Yosef, Baal Shem Tov, Gra, Ramchal, the Sefer Hazohar among many others.

As I mentioned above, Rabbeinu Saadya Gaon is not famous for having learned Kabbalah, and therefore is irrelevant to something whose soul(?) origin is Kabbalah. And this, of course, is besides my earlier comment about it not really being a Stira.

Being that I expressed already — and it got a second opinion as well — that you aren’t someone else although you might have an inherited soul, we can easily have a look at Rabbeinu Saadya Gaon and see that what bothered him was the view that you aren’t a new and unique individual. That is the Nefesh. To that we all agree, it is new. And that is what the Magid of the Beis Yosef taught him.

He is not adding any information by calling him an idiot. He is expressing his disdain to those who seemingly agree that it was a silly choice. Those words are his argument. If Reuven found a crowd who considered anyone who voted against Obama as bigoted or against history (or whatever the fad was at the time), and he informs them that Shimon did so, then I agree.

While I was kidding about the statement being LH in and of itself, the point remains. But pray tell me how that was supposed to get you upset. (I mean, actually it did. But how?)

I don’t think Randomex’s quote from Chofetz Chaim | A Lesson a Day Day 14, is actually definitive proof to this question, or in fact is at all pertinent. The question here is if the online identity has a status of a person’s name, and thereby by besmirching it you land in LH territory.

My own opinion of this is that ??? ???? ????? ?????. In a site like this, and by now most sites, that you sign in with a consistent name and take part in conversations with this identity, you invest a part of yourself into your online name. You care about this name although it wouldn’t affect your Parnassa or good standing in your face2face community.

Surely it remains a Shayla, and perhaps it won’t be De’oraysa, since you aren’t causing actual damage. But how can you really say you aren’t affecting someone? A person’s character and thought is conveyed through his many conversations. This is the essence of the person. We all know the common posters here and have personal feelings and opinions about them — as real people and not just as the keystroke trigger.

This is all putting aside the fact that we can’t control the future. Although you don’t know the person’s identity right now, who knows if you will or won’t ever find it out? When you do find it, all the negative revelations will be Chall Lemafre’ah.

This is also a warning to people who are confident in their anonymity, and go on to post all sorts of private information. You can’t control the future. You never know who will end up finding that stuff.

I suppose by that logic that Reuven would consider it Lashon Hara to say, “Shimon voted for John McCain.”

Not quite. It’s not up to Reuven. The fact is that you are pointing out his being different than you and the Mekabel and making him appear weird to the crowd. If he yells about Shimon, that will only make himself sound odd.

Now to nfgo’s OP, I really don’t think calling the guy an idiot for having done something is the LH. If anything, he is arguing on that opinion. But still, the LH would be to announce that Reuven voted for BOH, especially to a crowd who can relate to ‘he’s such an idiot’ for having done so.

As to if I’m trolling, I can’t tell. That term went through many generations of definitions here in the CR (and was the basis of most CR LH). I lost track of all of them. You probably meant to ask if I’m kidding, but if you can’t tell you don’t deserve an answer.?

There is no doubt more than one way to chew a Gemara, especially Agaddata, and even more so exotic Agaddata. That it why I didn’t call it proof. I said, “There are certain references that can be taken to be alluding to, or based on, Gilgul.” And sorry, I don’t recall where or who says Gilgul on that Gemara.

The Maharsha you mentioned and pasted (thanks for doing so, btw) does not add or take away from this conversation. He just says why it is a fitting punishment. I am discussing the technical details of the punishment. Will his spine just turn into a snake or is this alluding to a non-physical transformation?

Tosafos adds that because he can find no other way for a house to affect food or eating. The eating part is no doubt added in. He could have just as well said ??? ???? ??? ???? without the eating part. And it’s not like Mitoch has to translate back to food, since we find in Beitza 12 that it applies to Tiyul and for the sake of a Mitzvah.

I guess I don’t have a rock solid case but not do I think we start building ????s from any possibility of Hetter. The ???? by ????? is not was you think of when you learn of ???? nor when you think of food preparation. It is a specific crossing point that between ???? and ???? ???. It would be more ????? to Assur cheese making — since ???? is not a food ????? — than it is to build a Hetter out of an exception.

What I don’t get is, if you agree that although the state wasn’t supposed to be established (if indeed it violates the 3 oaths), you go along with the current reality one it is here, what is the point of all the anti-Zionist ranting and protests against any Israeli leader? Mitoch in Beitza wasn’t for eating. It was for Oneg Yom Tov. It was about carrying a child for any kind of satisfaction. The Torah was Mattir Ochel Nefesh.

He uses the term Mitoch, but his example is for eating. In Beitza 12 Tosafos says that Mitoch is for a small need, not for eating. This is why I take it that here he means it as an extension of the Hetter of Ochel Nefesh, not with all the implications of Mitoch. That said, however, this conclusion was from memory, and I probably wouldn’t have brought it up had I remembered the Lashon here.

Tosafos wasn’t talking about Mitoch, only about Tzorach Achila Mamesh. Even if the electric burner would be Muttar to turn on that would only apply to the burner but not to turning on lights.

I just wonder about an induction stovetop, where you aren’t competing any circuit. In that case, if it is set to a setting that it cannot boil, would you be allowed to warm up water on Shabbos Lechatchilah? I guess that’s where Zilzul comes in.

Are you actually reading the responses?

And to your first point (in that post), yes, that’s exactly my point. We don’t know the whole picture.
