    We don’t want people to think that any case of ????? ??? ?????? ?????? ?????? is a Yid, since this would bring about big trouble. Lav Davka is the case of having a brother the same person to whom you want to return the money.

    And if they he was Megayer with his mother and father and his father ended up having more sons from a different wife and the first wife dies, the Shaala is ???? as well.

    Well, here’s one:

    Y’know, I ignored this thread for a while. The topic is just too boring for me and the opinions are preset and predictable. However, I saw your name and figured it would be worth checking it out. And it was. Thanks.

    Popa, you have the ability to be so level-headed and insanely wild in the same breath.

    I don’t know how was set up beforehand. I do notice that in the news section, only posters of the coffeeroom have their name linked. Perhaps it used to be one installation and they switched it to two to smoothen things out.

    Even if they make the switch, it would probably be wise to keep this url for the search engines and histories that it built up.

    Similarly, the Gemara explains that a Roman officer admitted that the reason they don’t wipe out all the Jews is becuase not all of them are in Roman controlled lands, and to kill only those under their rule would give them a bad name, a murderous regime.

    The question is, if all the Jews were in Roman controlled lands and they would kill them all out, RL, they would have the same bad name. Why is it presented like two sides of the coin. My answer is that if they’d do what they want to the Jews nobody would bat an eyelash. It is only the remainingg Jews that would complain, causing their hosting governments to voice condemnations.

    Those Teffilos of Eliyahu were about one idea. Likewise, when we Daven Smone Esreiout is one chain. Also, when I learned this Gemara I learned that this only applies to when you turn to Hashem to beg for something. In that scenario, asking for two things away your attention from the other thing. When you are asking for your general needsthis does not apply.

    While the “why” in that book might be based on AZ, it probably came after it was shown to help. This is how it works in science as well. Experimentation usually precedes the theory.

    Let’s not lose sight of the fact that the Issur of ‘Avoda’ Zara is exactly that, Avoda — worship. Actions based upon the ideology of a belief system on Avoda Zara is not worship. This is why, the Rambam explains Kishuf to be based on AZ, it is a separate Issur and has many Kulos, including Lihislamed, to undo previous Kishuf, and isn’t Yehoreg V’al Yaavor.

    Sam, that would be at most a problem of Lo Saasun Kein Lashem Elokecha. But it shouldn’t be that either, because: A) We aren’t using it for Avodas Hashem, and B) We aren’t looking to it as a method of their Avodas Hashem, only as a technical method that was shown to have physical benefits.

    The Magid Meisharim says that Avraham Avinu studied Egyptian established methods, which were used and developed for AZ, to use for holy purposes.

    You are right. It is not the same thing and therefore does not have the came Halacha. However, what we do see from there is that the situation is not black and white.

    Erva is about Hirhur. This is why Tefach Ba’Isha Erva and Kol Ba’Isha Erva. This is why in some instances we say Libo Gass Bah and there is no Erva. The difference is that some things cause an attraction to the person, to like the person, while other things evoke thoughts of a very specific nature.

    Anything of the second type its Assur by anyone. But what causes a general likeability to the person is a good idea for a single girl and an Erva by an Eishes Ish.

    The bug is because every comment is put in as an item in a list. If you put in <li> outside of a list it got put in as another comment. This is why the next comment got shifted out of the row.

    ol means ordered list. ul means unordered list. li is list item. You used li outside of a list which messed up the whole page. This is a bug in wordpress.

    Ordered list:

    1. First item
    2. Second item

    code is:

    <ol>

    <li>First item</li>

    <li>Second item</li>

    </ol>

    Unordered list:

    • First item
    • Second item

    code is:

    <ul>

    <li>First item</li>

    <li>Second item</li>

    </ul>

    Sad it is, but it’s not exactly on the same scale. Being Traif is absolute. Every person, upon the first bite, ate Tarfus. Smoking is statistics and down the line and we all know smokers who lived long. Many things are dangerous, including bad diets which are probably more harmful than smoking.

    I overheard in a conversation someone quoting an Hatzalah member that he has seen ninety year old smokers but never a ninety year old obese person.

    If it would trully be a toll road there would be no entrance or exit without a toll booth. This is the way it is by bridges. These roads in which you can leve an exit earlier and avoid tolls, aren’t real toll roads. They just have the right to charge you for using the full length.

    A single girl is supposed to be attractive. The hair aids to this cause. By an Eishes Ish, this is a problem and is Erva. Hair, although it adds beauty, does not evoke lowly feelings of pure Taava and Pritzus. Think of the difference between dressing up and its opposite.

    Why should C.I. make you different? Young kids might tend to exaggerate any slight difference, but mature people don’t differentiate based on what procedure you had done. I know people with it and it hadn’t crossed my mind to view them as outcasts.

    Does your less frum mean angry at Hashem? People do react like that when things don’t seem to be working out as desired. You have a full life ahead of you. Don’t despair. Many people lose friends. As Lev Arye Boy once said, you win some you lose some. As you try to win new friends use the interlude to enjoy your own company.

    There are things to know when it comes to making or keeping friends. I don’t know all of it, but being comfortable with yourself makes others comfortable with you as well. As much as you want a friend don’t obcess over the fact that it is a friend. Don’t argue and be jealous of interactions with other people. Try not to hang onto your friend, as in needing them very very much and showing up before the first opportunity. Try to be giving. But most important is your confidence and countinence.

    These aren’t easy. Some people have this instinctively and others have to learn it.

    In Magid Meisharim of the Beis Yosef, the Magid calls Rabbeinu Yeruchem hidden. I guess just like there is a reason for everything else there is Hashgacha and a reason for the mistakes, too.

    Sam, where have we been using Eishes Chayil as a ‘love song’.

    Anyhow, Eishes Chayil, Pshat or not, is far from Shir Hashirim. It is about appreciation and praise, not about attraction. The words of Shir Hashirim can be used with a Yetzer Hara, but not Eishes Chayil. Eishes Chayil can be used for its Melitza Pshat, which at worst would be like using words of a Pasuk in conversation, which is constantly done. If I’m not mistaken, love songs are hardly about one’s legitimate, loyal wife.

    The Teimanim followed the Rambam’s Psak from way back when. The developements of Ashkenazic and Sfardic Halacha didn’t change them all the way. However, this has nothing to do with being Choleq Al Rabbo.

    In Yiddish we say, Fuhn Ah Kasha Shtarbt Mehn Nischt. If you want to think up reasons for each place where the Rambam seems to go with outside Sefarim, or if you want to come up with general ideas, so be it. This is something else entirely.

    So in other words, as I said and as Itche said, he drew historical conclusions and decided to act on them. Next he became a Machria between the Amoraim. As chazal tell us, Gedola Machlokes Shemagi’a Ad Kisei Hakavod. Once you break free there is nothing holding you back from going anywhere.

    All this is silly and Ramos Ruach. The presence of the latter cannot be denied.
