If he is truly unhappy where he is, and his friends’ Yeshiva is suitable, you may want to talk to your Rav about the possibility of transfering him. Yeshiva schedules could be grueling. Subtracting half of Bein Haz may not be enough time for him to refresh and learn as well as he would otherwise.

playtimeMemberSammy,
LOL
playtimeMemberPopa,
I just read three posts, and was taken aback by all of them.
Lo and behold, they were all posted by you.
Corrigible, completely retarded, perhaps not a woman, between mean and vicious, and way over the top.
playtimeMemberFrom a personal and theological perspective, I really couldn’t care less about the pope. But for my christian brothers and sisters, I am really proud for them. I don’t know who the other contenders were, but it looks like they aced choosing this pope.
He seems very humble and worthy of such a post (no pun intended)- the simple wooden necklace he wears, and leading a hardly-material life.
The fact that he is a traditional conservative means a lot to me (since we are very much in sync on about every issue out there), so that the leading Rabbis could continue to work closely with the Vatican on educational and social issues.

playtimeMember“Is there something unique you found that helps you learn gemara or memorize words?”
Chazarah.
“Is there an obscure daf or tosfos you remeber learning that other people will find incredibly interesting?”
Nowadays, people ONLY remember the interesting parts.
My advice is, don’t be afraid to write on your Gemara. Treat it like a legal document: underline, scribble, and diagram away.
playtimeMemberI have posted stupid’er
playtimeMemberIt is a universal problem: the passive vs. the active, and is prevalent in every facet of life.
Sometimes it is a confidence issue not to go out of your box, other times just insensitivity. Too busy is just an excuse.
The people who are passive in the comfort of their own neighborhood will surely be passive to the initiatives of others.
True awareness is brought by fulfillment.
playtimeMemberbatseven,
So that’s where the rumor started.
Bello was just awarded ‘Celebrity of the Year 2012’ from Ringling Museum. He won many ‘Best Clown’ awards- and it’s pretty amazing altogether that Jewish coordinators are able to get such professional shows, like Ringling Bro’s- and to customize the show to leave out the women performers.
playtimeMemberHe’s live and well.
In 2010, he left The Ringling Brothers, and rejoined the circus he was with before, The Big Apple Circus. So that’s why you don’t see him anymore.
By the way, his hair is real.
playtimeMemberThe thing is, non-Jews have so much variety and color of clothes to wear. Designer cloths are factually better cut and more fashionable. Until what point can you relegate a yeshiva Bochur’s attire?
The chacham Tzvi, when he heard that some rabbonim wanted to ban gebroskt, said, there are so little things a yid can eat on Pesach already, why rob him of his Taanug Yom Tov of gebroskt.
playtimeMemberSorry, it just ended. But they will be posting the video on the OU website.
playtimeMemberNowadays, people tend to mix their desserts into the main course,
and just call it ‘kugel’ instead of cake.

playtimeMemberblackhatwannabe,
most people get a haircut between every 3 weeks to a month. So if you get a haircut a day before Yom Tov, this year you can get one 33 days later (since Lag Be’omer is Sun., you can get one on Fri before), then again before shevu’os (shevu’ot).
So if you normally get a haircut once a month, you’re OK.
For people who get haircuts every 3 weeks, a size shorter than usual is normal. So if you’re a bangs guy, a little shorter; just not that nifty just-just haircut you may be used to – it won’t last you so long.
Hope that helped. If you have regular FFB questions, feel free to ask.
playtimeMemberCool meaning cold, or interesting?
playtimeMemberYeshiva bochurim usually want a haircut size 3
some get size 2 (if your hair is thick enough) and others size 4.
some want scissors on the whole top, others size three all over except for the bangs.
I do haircuts, so any other questions?
playtimeMemberpopa_bar_abba, next time get a coffee every half hour.

March 6, 2013 11:00 pm at 11:00 pm in reply to: Do the women in your house do heseiba (lean)? #1070805playtimeMember147:
The Rema says even that nowadays every women is considered an Isha Chashuva/important (who must lean), women do not do Heseiba at all nowadays.
(I don’t know what the minhag sefardim is)
playtimeMemberPutting your chicken in the oven uncovered on ‘roast’ a little, is not considered Tzli Eish. Roasting chicken completely on a rod, so that the skin is visibly shriveled, and the chicken is dry, is another story.

playtimeMemberMobe613, I realized you are right:
If the pope can wear his elaborate outfit and yarmulka at all times, so ca I.
So, last Chol Hamo’ed, I sky-dove onto the Rockie mountains in my streimel, went swimming at the Best Western in my tish beketshe and yarmulka, went bungee jumping with my gartel, and took the lazy river with my shmeck taback.
I had no problem with the sun in my eyes, because I was wearing tinted glasses, and my yarmulka didn’t fall off because I’m Ger.
I urge everyone to do the same and not compromise their minhagim. If you feel you cant,- so nu, don’t go on the trip.
playtimeMemberHealth: “What is so hard for you to understand – that there are better Shiurim in the world than in DC? Nowadays everyone has to be the best – good is Not good enough! This is why we have a Shidduch crisis…”
No one is saying he is the best.
Just the fact that DC does have upper-level Shiurim also.
playtimeMemberHealth, What???
Is this an optical illusion?
(My ‘agent’ and I agree that we are all ‘healthy’).
playtimeMemberpopa_bar_abba, i.e. “The King of Media”, ..but he doesn’t wear a crown?.. “The First Lady of talk radio” — is her husband the president or governor?..
It is an adaptive form of literature. Take it or leave it.
Daniel Rosen: I am not sitting at the Heavenly Court to question what the Ikar is. L’fum Tzara Agra is not limited to Torah, but rather applies to all aspects of life, including a non-Jew. So you take issue with the term ‘Ivy League Colleges’ when some people at Brooklyn College work even harder.
What I mean is, in terms of exclusivity, what is the Ivy League of Yeshivos.
Apart from personal issues you may have with some yeshivos, I’m just eliciting a reality that there are yeshivos exclusive to talmidim with a higher intelligence.
playtimeMemberWhy is this so hard to understand.
Ivy League is no longer limited to athletics, and now represents an educational philosophy inherent to the nation’s oldest schools.
Ivy League became an adapted term for the cream-of-the-crop – ex. “the Ivy League of artists” etc.
In other words, which yeshivos have the highest level of learning, brightest Bochurim, etc. This has little to do with affiliation.
i.e., What are the Ivy League Yeshivos? (thank you very much for the lesson)
playtimeMemberI Hear. Yup.
playtimeMemberThe LSAT includes an essay at the end which is not counted in the score, but is used by Universities to appraise the applicant. You must be a good essay writer also.
playtimeMemberThis thread is unacceptable. It is not the prerogative of a Yid to be discussing such Goyishe Zachin. People ask me, are sports Assur? Definitely they are! When was the last time you saw Rav Shteinman or Rav Kanievsky playing sports?
It is one thing to play sports surreptitiously for health reasons, but it is entirely another thing to openly discuss it on a yeshiva blog, as your past time. Normally I am quiet as per the sensitivity of this issue. But now I feel I must speak up.
Sports are repulsive. It comes from Greek origins, and causes perspiration.
I admire the people who take a firm position on this issue and stand between the thrower and catcher in no uncertain terms, equipped with a stick and hit the ball far away from the game. I cheer for them.
playtimeMemberRav Moshe Pohrille. I need not say more.
playtimeMemberThePurplleOne:
Yeshiva Derech Chaim is not a run-of-the-mill yeshiva because there is such a wide spectrum of student body. You could find shiurim there at any level, right up to par of the best yeshivos.
Each of the Hanhala and Rabeim are particularly spectacular- the same magnitude of which hard to come by nowadays.
