Veltz Meshugener- “I am amused by the fact that when someone like Michael Jackson or Steve Jobs dies, everyone is much too sensitive to talk about their shortcomings, but when Margaret Thatcher dies, she’s fair game.”

    +2

Steve Jobs and Michael Jackson purveyed obscenity.

    Margaret Thatcher purveyed morality.

Staples has the ‘easy button’. You keep it in the office, and you push it and it says, “That was easy.”

    This is the same idea.

So whenever you feel you want to post, but don’t know what to post, you just post “Bump,” and your post will bump the bump thread to the beginning.

    Like a stress reliever.

So anyhow, I was walking down the street in Jerusalem in a Sefardi Israeli neighborhood, and I hear music.

I thought it was Martina Mcbride or Katy Perry, which is extremely odd to hear in that neighborhood.

So I listened carefully for a few seconds, and it turned out to be Meydad Tasa.

So I was thinking, if a boy sounds like a women, is it Assur?

    SecularFrummy-

    It goes like this.

The generation of Moshe experienced the greatest miracles, like splitting of the red sea.

But scientists today have an explanation even for that. They say it is possible that every 2448 years an extremely forceful gale occurs at an angle to split the sea.

Moses Mendelssohn the Ugly wanted to say that Moshe Rabbeinu used his staff to dissolve the water of the Red Sea.

(His staff was made from sulfur which separates hydrogen and oxygen in h2o)

Miracles like Elijah at Mt. Carmel occurred when the there was an evil inclination for idolatry.

We do not have that evil in us anymore.

iluvbeingjewish- “we hardly have any bechira at all if you think about it.who well marry is annonced 40 days b4 were born…”

    Ah, the age old question.

The answer is that your question is flawed. You are asking about the prediction of G-d vs. choice of Man, as if they are two sides to the same coin. But they are not.

Man’s ‘present’ is not only G-d’s ‘present’, it is also G-d’s future and past too.

You cannot attribute the G-dly quality of omnipresence to man.

    frumnotyeshivish, yitayningwut- thank you.

I remember something from Rabbi Avigdor Miller that the fact that nature has a plan and purpose shows that it was created by G-d.

The counter argument of the Atheist is, “If nature was created by G-d, then what created G-d?”

So Rabbi Miller said that is a trap.

To avoid the trap, you should say that plan and purpose of nature shows that it had to have been created by intelligence.

If you want to say that Greater Intelligence created intelligence etc, you can.

    Hence infinite intelligence; hence G-d.

How about we have this thread, called “Rate the Posters”, where anyone can write who and why they think is radical or untrustworthy. It will be like a reference thread.

If one person out of many (not oneofmany) is untrustworthy, then stars work. but when the actual system is full of bad raters, there is no point in rating.

nitpicker- “and also to attribute that quote about believing stories to the Steipler is laughable…”

It is attributed to him- don’t know if there are other sources before, but let me find the main topic for you-

The same Steipler Goan, in his Sefer Hayei Olam writes, “It is known that the Maharal produced a Golem”

(and I know you wish your argument wasn’t blatantly incorrect;)

nitpicker- There are skeptics to every claim, and that’s perfectly fine. But to take the opposite position on every claim, purporting that the evidence is on YOUR side, is blatantly incorrect.

There is a famous adage from the Steipler Goan, who said, “If you believe every tale you hear you are a heretic, and if you believe that every tale couldn’t have occurred, you are a heretic as well.

The same Steipler Goan, in his Sefer Hayei Olam writes, “It is known that the Maharal produced a Golem”

The Steipler was known to have Ruach Hakodesh.

This is not to say that every tale of the Golem is true. But that the Maharal did create a Golem.

old man, and nitpicker- your stances on many issues are completely unsupported, and your backward reasoning is very revealing of argumentative people who are brutally unlearned.

zahavasdad- “Many of the Medrashim cannot possibly be true. Many are contradictory”

-The first subscription of a true torah learner is that there are smarter and greater men out there, giants of torah, who can reconcile contradictions that thou cannot.

“Many were written in a code so that outsiders could not understand many were also subject to censors as well”

Before we effectively denounce all Jewish writings as possibly altered, and in-understandable, we must concede to the Torah Giants who are able to read and interpret the Amoraic writings effectively. The Vilna Gaon, Rashash, and others were able to discern the true text from altered writings and misprints, solely through their torah wisdom.
