It is astounding as to how this entire issue has developed. We have people who were not even born when Rav Moshe ztl was alive quoting him and making statements in his name, etc. etc.

Where is your sense of kovod hatorah and kovod talmidei chachomim that you have the gall to quote Rav Moshes as if you knew him!!!!!! you are on thin ice.

This has perhaps become one of the most silliest conversations ever on YWN and i find it an oxymoron that this site is called YESHIVA World News. Because these individuals wear bALCK HATS AND BLACK SUITS all day long is the most glorious falsification of what they think they represent. Nobody on this website is classified to be capable of speaking in place or for Rav Moshe ztl.

The answer to the question is very simple. The chassidish oilom has not yet taken hold and a firm grip in Flatbush. Therefore, no rebbes wielding much power thus far in Flatbush. However there may come a day when chassidishe come in large numbers and displace the litwaks. That day shall come.

Apushatayid…i am surprised at you. Dont you know how this “system” works by now? Have you not been around the block a few times already?

In case you dont know, this is how it works: everyone will give you “their” version of what Rav Dovid shlita said. You will NEVER know what Rav Dovid shlita in fact said.

For the fact that Halacha is NOT clear cut in this instance that a mere discussion will not yield practical Halacha. A posek joining this discussion would be beneficial

    Ubiquitin,

That is exactly the point. Everybody wears pants so there is no intrinsic holiness in pants. Everybody speaks Yiddish, regardless of level of religious observance. That is why this discussion as absurd as it is is made more absurd by those continuing to post comments that are repetitive, boring, and lack intelligence.

Because holy people wear pants. Following the earlier logic, that should make trousers holy.

Let me understand this. If holy people use something, or in this instance Yiddish, then it assumes a level of holiness?
So a shtreimel is considered holy? A bieber hat is holy? A pair of pants are holy?

Why isn’t moshiach here yet? Quick thought that just came to mind.
Just returned from 2:00 Mincha minyan. A half minyan’s worth of tefillin laying males were on their cell phones/smartphones before chazoras hashatz.

the most classic example? Coming to shul late. Plain and simple. If you had a business meeting you would not walk in 45 minute3s late. I see this disturbing behavior each and every Shabbos morning.

And this my friends is why we have once again the three weeks, the nine days, and tisha b’av. Read the more recent posts and see how this has turned ugly and personal. So we can go through the rituals of no music, no shaving, no meat, fasting and all these customs which are rote on an annual basis and do not bring us any closer to what the bein hamitzarim is really about:ELIMINATING SINAH (Hatred). There cannot exist a frank discussion about yiddish and its holiness, if any, without people getting hot under the collar and getting nasty and personal. So, we will go through another year of speeches and sermons and kinos and fasting, etc. And what does it all mean? Zilch. Have a meaningful fast (HA!)

So much tipshus has been written on this subject matter that it is scary.
Just one example. The Chasan Sofer zy”a was in a battle to keep yiddishkeit from going astray and off the rails. Assimilation was exploding all over Europe and he instituted takonas to prevent or slow down or reverse the tide of assimilation. The Chsasm Sofer utilized Yiddish only as a means to keep Jewish identity sound. He did not attach any kedushah or holiness to this language that only came into existence a couple of hundred years ago. Loshon Kodesh or Biblical Hebrew is divine ((from the Rebbono shel olam). Yiddish is man made. Need I say more?

Not at all. The Bundists, Jewish communists and reformers were the biggest proponents of Yiddish as a cultural medium. No holiness whatsoever in Yiddish. Moshe Rabbeinu did not speak Yiddish.

That speech was earth shattering. S Y Rechnitz is the only one in modern history to get up at the podium and speak of the essence of Yiddishkeit. The essence of Yiddishkeit is derech eretz kodmoh l’torah. What a breath of fresh air to hear him speak and say those words davka in Lakewood proper. Rabbi Rechnitz was given a lot of Siyata Dishmaya, and unlike others, he is utilizing this energy in the proper way. May S Y Rechnitz be zocheh to see a refuah shleimah for his shver and shep nachas from his family.

Davening a long S”E if a shliach tzibbur violates the Halacha of tircha d’tzibura. Yes, there are halachos specifically geared to minimize or eliminate tircha d’tzibura. From a practical point, long S”Es lead to unruly disruptive noisy impatient mispallelim.

Don’t bring proof from Rav Aharon Kotler z”l. First of all, Rav Aharon had bigger issues on his mind at the time than female driving. Second, people were not stupid back then to manufacture stupid moronic halachic shaaleh for the sake of showing off that they asked the Rosh yeshiva a Shaaleh. People today make up shailos so they have an excuse for a photo op with a gadol.
