TalmidchochomParticipant
What a sick topic to have a discussion about
TalmidchochomParticipantanyone deserting their family on Rosh Hashana for this hocus pocus needs help
TalmidchochomParticipantRabbonim must not be too happy.
TalmidchochomParticipantI just don’t get it
August 4, 2019 12:21 pm at 12:21 pm in reply to: If There Would be a Jewish Music Hall of Fame.. #1769365TalmidchochomParticipantVery simple why the oldies are the most sought out for HOF. Today’s singers are cookie cutter molds. They are all the same. No uniqueness that differentiates one from the other. No identity. Those who grew up during the 60s can readily differentiate between the talents of then and the talents of now. The current singers have great boices but the compositions are all the same.

August 2, 2019 7:09 pm at 7:09 pm in reply to: What are any issues with serving a role in Conservative Shule? #1768953TalmidchochomParticipantI cannot accept what was written about an “Orthodox” shul conducting services in a mosque. What orthodox affiliation is that minyan aligned with?
TalmidchochomParticipantThis discussion seems to be veering off from what the initial post from devny so I will try to bring it back to its proper place.
Devny…I make you a deal. I would take you to the restaurant, however I would purchase a pearl studded leash and keep you under the table while I eat and every few minutes I will throw a few vittles into your bowl. Does this take care of your concerns?TalmidchochomParticipantI think you should have her puke out whatever food she ingested “wrongfully”. LOL
July 25, 2019 9:04 am at 9:04 am in reply to: What are any issues with serving a role in Conservative Shule? #1765026TalmidchochomParticipantDavening in a C shul gives credibility to a movement that is strongly anti-Orthodox. Better that you daven at home, unless you don’t believe in the Torah.
TalmidchochomParticipantdevny… i would have taken you to restaurant also, however, kept you under the table…sans food. Why should I go hungry because of you?
TalmidchochomParticipantI know bochurim in litvish yeshivos who are not shaving and not yet married.
TalmidchochomParticipantwhat is the yuhara in a bochur growing a beard if his kabbalah from his rebbi or father is not to shave.?
TalmidchochomParticipantPhil…you did not address the issue. If shaving with certain implements or shaving in general is problematic, why does being married change the status of the prohibition. There is no issue of gaavah involved here. Respectfully, You did not answer the question
TalmidchochomParticipantSomeone has yet to explain the correlation between being married/engaged and growing a beard.. Does the prohibition come into play only when one becomes engaged or married? If so, which of the other “lavin” in the Torah can be delayed until one marries?
TalmidchochomParticipantHonestly funnybone, leave the country at midnight or later and you will have a traffic congestion-free ride home.
TalmidchochomParticipantLaskern…tovoi olecha bracha…you provide a tremendous zchus to what would otherwise be a conglomeration of am haartzus together with loshon hora. Your knowledge of the sources in halacha that you so willingly give over makes this YWN truly a learning experience. May I be zoche to read many future posts of yours.
TalmidchochomParticipantRational,
Does it make a difference what the local “Minhag” of Lakewood is? Is Lakewood the Sanhedrin of Klal Yisroel?
TalmidchochomParticipantStar K article long on theory but short on practicality.

TalmidchochomParticipantWho owes who an apology?
TalmidchochomParticipantzahavasdad brings up a very important, critical and necessary point. I can only wonder who in today’s day and age is capable of answering that question. It gets to the deep root of Yiddishkeit from a philosophical point and a practical point. I look forward to reading replies to Zahavasdad’s point.
June 24, 2019 12:04 pm at 12:04 pm in reply to: What would it take for you to move “OOT” ?? #1746119TalmidchochomParticipantI hear what you are saying but I do not know if it is accurate.
Chassidishe seform speak of neitzozos kedusha that need to be gathered up before the Moshiach age.
If so, there is a reason why yidden are living in Europe, Africe, SOuth America and North America. Yidden in these countries need to drain, so to speak, the netzoitzis that are there. Once that occurs, we can all go to E”Y. This concept of netzozos is a very interesting, unique and powerful inspiration that explains galus as we see it. It is a chassidishe concept so you need to consult with chassidishe rabbonim to fully understand what it means.June 23, 2019 12:29 pm at 12:29 pm in reply to: What would it take for you to move “OOT” ?? #1745717TalmidchochomParticipantWhat would it take for me to move OOT? Not much Brooklyn is the pits and cesspool of NYS.
TalmidchochomParticipantYabia,
As you travel through all 2700+ blatt Gemara, do we in 2019 follow everything stated in Shas?
TalmidchochomParticipantLaskern,
You are an anomaly to this discussion thread. You cite Mareh Mekomos.
Tizku L’mitzvos.TalmidchochomParticipantDon’t understand at all why in 21st century שנים מקרא ואחד תרגום is with Onkelos rather than רש״י.
At the end of the day, what assists a person in understanding a posuk Chumash? A rashi or an Onkelos?TalmidchochomParticipantThis continuing back and forth about holiness of Yiddish is insulting and degrading to the concept of Kedusha (holiness) . We forgot how the Torah and Shas define what it means to be holy. Pause from this ridiculous discussion, grab a Sefer or two, see what Kedusha represents and then return here and see if you don’t have a more intelligent insight as to whether Yiddish is holy.
TalmidchochomParticipantSorry Klugeryid,
Does not pass the logic test.TalmidchochomParticipantWho can prove that ,as one said earlier,
Yiddish is over one thousand years old.TalmidchochomParticipantDoes Rav Dovid Cohen stipulate why yiddish is holy?
TalmidchochomParticipantZahavasdad…when using this approach, you are traveling a perilous route
TalmidchochomParticipantI agree 100% with klugeryid. This Yiddish has been made into some holy language when in fact the most experienced and knowledgeable yiddish speakers were communists, bundists, socialists and others who never observed a shabbos.
TalmidchochomParticipantWho says it is holy?
TalmidchochomParticipantThank you, Laskern .
TalmidchochomParticipantReb Laskern. Where is the מראה מקום for the Chasan Sofer you quoted on the Mitzva of tzitzis?
TalmidchochomParticipantWill someone explain to me the dirshu piece at Siman 8 where he says that Mishnah Berurah wonders why bochurim don’t put on a talis before getting married. Where did he find the M”B wondering about this?
May 23, 2019 10:17 am at 10:17 am in reply to: Anyone cancelling their subscription to Yated Neeman and switching to Hadegel? #1732235TalmidchochomParticipantIs one permitted to take these newspapers into a beis medrash or beis haknesses?
May 22, 2019 1:25 pm at 1:25 pm in reply to: Anyone cancelling their subscription to Yated Neeman and switching to Hadegel? #1731213TalmidchochomParticipantAssur b’hechlet likros b’itonim.
May 12, 2019 9:26 am at 9:26 am in reply to: Why are there no Gibson guitars in Jewish Music bands #1725647TalmidchochomParticipantWhy does it make a difference if a Gibson is used or not used used? How many out there are so sensitive that they can discern the difference in the music coming out of a Gibson versus a non-Gibson. All the music today at Jewish weddings is just loud, very loud noise with virtually no musical creativity.
TalmidchochomParticipantHow many of those who said Hallel today on Y”H said selichos or kinus yesterday celebrated as Yom Hazikoron?
How many did not say hallel on Y”H and at the same time also omitted saying tachanun? Huh?TalmidchochomParticipantNo one can have any rebuttal to this psak. It is saying tehillim.
TalmidchochomParticipantNo doubt in my mind that saying hallel on YH was a spontaneous reaction to an admittedly very joyous and happy event. However, it is not clear that gedolei Yisroel of that era were consulted nor had the authority to change the Seder Hatefillah. Consequently, at a minimum there are some very weighty Halachik issues here.
TalmidchochomParticipantWould you have been more satisfied to find a mouse doing a backstroke in your soup?
April 3, 2019 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm in reply to: How Shidduchim became a beauty pageant contest. #1708819TalmidchochomParticipantHow true.
TalmidchochomParticipantJoseph, a good diyuk! I like it. It almost makes sense.
TalmidchochomParticipantUbiquitin,
Before I get insulted, I see from who it is coming. In your case, I need not worry.
TalmidchochomParticipantSounds like a no-brainer to me that yiddish is no different than French.
TalmidchochomParticipantLerntminTayrah,
I believe what you are saying. Is there a Mareh mokom to this that you earlier stated?
TalmidchochomParticipantUbiquity,
I feel sorry for you. Honestly.
