BT whats that got to do.

s/ts i post long but thats just cuz i have a hard time saying things in condensed form. but personally i try to read longs ones more than short ones cuz those are more interesting IMHO

in reply to: because its easier to criticize rather than empathize #823575

I’ll try to clarify what I meant. Not sure I can though. I noticed that people tell over something that happened, usually a bad situation ch”v or the likes and rather than say oh I’m sorry or Oy how terrible they say something along the lines of well of course that happened you did XYZ and ABC wrong. It says klal yisrael are rachmanim. But but this doesnt seem to match up. MP said something tha makes sense. He said iit might be from the ‘me’ mentality and not thinking about the feelings of the other person.

Youngerman that’s an interesting observation. Didn’t think of it that way. But I have seen woman who jump to blame or deflect emotions too. Can’t say I’ve had experience with men and thie emotions though so I can’t really decide if that’s part of the issue.

Thanx every one for reading this. This issue has been bothering me for a while but it finally got to a point I had to let it out.

in reply to: Being Perceptive: It's amazing #825019

wow MP. this is quite a piece. thank you for sharing! its big eye opener to how far i have to go. a few months ago i woke up one day and out of the blue was doing ‘step 2 and 3’. personally i feel there is a bit of a maturity piece involved to be able to see and percieve things around us on such a madreiga. the good thing is we humans are here to evolve to become even better. i’m not perfect yet on my path, but this work has definitely inspired me. Thanx again MP

in reply to: Really Good Novels #973689

GG-totally agree on tale of 2 cities. great classic

other books i liked that others mentioned- a separate peace, caine mutiny, phantom tollbooth, my sister’s keeper (i don’t recommend any of her other books-stay far away from some of them. not all of them are appropriate)

in reply to: Apologizing: It's wonderful #1194649

i once had someone take advantage of the fact that i am more on the trusting side. basically this person played a trick on me and it took a while into the conversation to pick up on the inconsistencies. once i figured it out i was REALLY upset that i was taken advantage of. my first reaction was anger of course but once i calmed down about 60 seconds later i told the person how upset i was, that it was over and beyond what is acceptable….. in that conversation the person apologized but i was still hurt. it took me a long time to be able to say “i forgive you for such and such”. it took me about 6 months from when it happened to erev Y”K but i forgave the person. and after i did, it was SUCH a relief that i didn’t have to carry that hurt around. before i forgave the person each time i remembered the situation i felt a flair up of the same emotions. now, its the past. its something to learn from that i am able to forgive and forget. and it reinforced that time heals many things to the point that old scars fade until they are no longer there. even though it took me half a year to forgive, i still pat my self on the back that i did it because i thought i was never going to be able to get over it. but i did!

MP- thanx for this thread. sometimes apologizing is a great thing as hard as it may be

in reply to: Eating on the Street #820524

Actually kapusta it’s just the word I use to describe ssomething that is disgusting but nasty just isn’t the right word to describe it. And as Wolf said, the word shnasty does sound well shnasty

in reply to: Eating on the Street #820521

walking and eating not even on the street is chazerish. i was in my college cafeteria today and there was a dude walking around and eating a roll or sandwich or something. i was ready to tell him “DUDE!!!! sit while you eat PLEASE!!!!” it was shnasty to the nth degree

    in reply to: Serotonin #819520

Sorry. Not telling you what I’m studying. But it’s in the medical field.

OK OK I concede. The effect is similar you forgot to mention the health benefits of chocolate and the potential SE of those drugs. I’d take chocolate if you’re offering 🙂

    in reply to: Serotonin #819518

No it not. There is a big difference between releasing ( as chocolate does) and inhibiting reuptake ( such as SSRI’s and MAOI’s).

    in reply to: Serotonin #819514

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (or s/t like that). MAOI’s inhibit the degredation of different hormones. They don’t produce them either

    in reply to: Serotonin #819511

SSRI’s inhibit the reuptake of seretonin. They don’t release or produce seretonin, they just enhance the effect of endogenous seretonin

if i’m here, it means i’m taking a break and not studying like i should 🙂

    in reply to: Beha"b #820531

that was the example my neighbor told me that the principal told her. the way i understood it was if a girl accidentally touches her cousin b/c they bumped into each other, she needs to do ‘behab’ as the principal explained. does it make more sense now?

in reply to: Trophy Wives #820007

what do you guys mean when you say “trophy wife”? do you mean s/o who is geshickt in the kitchen, s/o who is a baalas chessed, an aishes chayil, wonderful mother etc etc or do you mean s/o to show off? an ornament, a decoration, a trinket? unfortunately i think its the latter when ppl say they want a trophy…. i hope they know this years trophy is out of style the next year.

in reply to: I want to study Medicine. but.. #821359

If you like the ob/gyn portion why don’t you become a CNM- a certified nurse midwife. It’s a masters in nursing, with your focus being midwifery instead of education persay. O get there though you are going to need an RN-BSN first though.

thanx for the offer. i played for theme song last year and had a teacher in the school help transpose to an easier key then i played with the cords to match harmony. so far this year the song in q hasnt been decided yet. hopefully its one with sheet music avail online. if i do need help, i know where to find it. thanx again

    ? ? ?

in reply to: Jewish Sheet music/TAB/chords. #817960

Thanx MP! i’m helping out a 12 grader w/ music for production and i might need to find cords for the song she picked out. so far i’ve had better luck finding guitar cords.

in reply to: opinions on strollers needed #818187

my opinion based on pushing siblings in strollers: macklarens are great all over and usually fold small. jogging strollers are great if you have lots of uneven sidewalk. if u get a 3 wheel, check to see if the front wheel swivels. if it does not, it is very hard to turn. IMO city mini’s are real easy to push-even if its a twin stroller. but they are in the 500 range. for real infants in infant seats it might be worth it to get one of the snap n go systems where the infant seat snaps into a base in the car and has a stroller frame. those are great for in and out shopping. and one last thing-what ever you get, try to get s/t (easily) washable 🙂

    Hatzlacha!

in reply to: Jewish Sheet music/TAB/chords. #817958

cool sites! but does a/o know if guitar cords can be used for piano/casio as well? like if guitar is C-Am-F-G can i use those same cords?

to everyone else, you really helped me and i really appreciate it.

in reply to: Can a lady be too tznius? #1020183

” Just because your friend feels this way, does not mean she speaks for the majority of women who bedavka buy these gorgeous and expensive robes to be especially worn at the Shabos tish. If one chooses to use such a robe in a cavalier way by wearing it to bed, thus risking RUINING it, that is certainly her prerogative”

i said it was a shabbos robe; didnt describe it so you are assuming what it looked like. it was a velour robe, one that was sold to be worn as most ppl wear a shabbos robe. but thats besides the point. this was a lesson I learned, that i took to heart, not one i said others should follow. my BFF’s wear their robes out of the house. its thier choice, as it is yours as well. but i do think that sequins, rhinestones etc are a bit flashy, (attention getting) which defeat the purpose.

what catches the eye more? a well fitting robe with decorations, or a robe that is just a drop too loose? its all in perspective

(this is all OPINION. not forcing this on anyone)

    in reply to: SAT #833425

IMO, over 2000 out of 2400 is good. not sure in real life what a good score is

in reply to: Can a lady be too tznius? #1020162

oomis, prev lesson i learned in sem: slept by dif classmate’s boarding family (my family went away for shabbos). after the seuda we both got ready for bed. i got into my pj’s, and she got into what looked to me like a shabbos robe. i asked her if she was going out of the room to read and she said s/t that changed my perspective. “these are my pajamas. just during the week i wear a regular night gown and just like shabbos we wear different clothes, shouldnt my pajamas be different too?” this is why i can hear what my teacher has to say about shabbos robes being bedroom clothes. yes i agree robes can be elegant, fancy and fashionable, these 2 thoughts are in my head regarding shabbos robes.

in reply to: Can a lady be too tznius? #1020156

smartcookie: that was my teacher’s point. even though they are as fancy as they are, what did they start out as? i hear her point; i own a shabbos robe but i do not wear it out of the house, nor do i wear it to meals. i just don’t take it to such an extreme. (yes i do wear it around the house shabbos afternoon if the house is empty)

in reply to: Can a lady be too tznius? #1020152

s/t a sem teacher said: even if you spend 150 on your shabbos robe, its still bedroom clothes. (ie its just a fancy night gown)

in reply to: Sukkos menu #816102

Doodle jump, in my house we find milchigs easier in a way. The soup and noodle dish is made before y”t, which just leaves the fish to make along with cutting veggies for the salad and plattering cheeses. Plus it’s usually plastic dishes which makes cleanup easy peesee. We just don’t get how ppl cat a PBA sized meal so late at night.

in reply to: Sukkos menu #816098

    milchigs/parve

onion soup or mushroom barley soup, fish, a noodle dish (baked ziti, lasagna, milchig noodle kugel) salad (this year will prob be greek), and cheeses and spreads. dessert will prob be ice cream
