Yaakov- excellent questions. I would love answers to those. And not just who planted those bombs, but why it wasn’t pursued when they had video. And I also would love to know why security was denied, then delayed when requested etc. I’m not building theories, I would just like facts.

Your post is wonderful. I’ve said that so many times but find no takers. For the record, I have no favorite media outlets, I don’t listen to any talk/news shows or pundits or podcasts, I definitely can’t stomach spinners and I have already mentioned why I probably won’t be following this one as I usually do. Knowing that a dossier can be created with falsified information and warrants then produced with falsified information and an investigation being opened on the falsified information means I can’t know anything is real. And knowing there are intelligent people here who are willing to discount facts because they don’t like them means that I don’t have this platform for info either. It’s frustrating and sad. And expressing how sad it makes me that I can’t find real facts – a pretty non partisan personal statement – has only garnered me repeated nastiness, rudeness, name-calling and negativity from some of the lovely, allegedly frum posters here.

I said nothing of the sort. This misrepresentation of the conversation sounds like more diversion. That’s why I questioned your motive. I agree with your assumptions about his “find”, and I strongly disagree with his approach to “public education”. But that doesn’t negate the fact that people have to be careful who their sources are. While “the men have beards” seems to work for AAQ even though most did not have yarmulkes, I prefer sources more aligned with mesorah despite their strong academics.

The friends I have are ffb for the most part, for doros. They are wonderful friends, not lecturers, and I have learned much from and about them and how they live their lives and raise their kids over many years.

I’m sorry you feel that way. Anyone connected to a gadol would be able to tell you that they know a lot more about life than you think and that includes the world around us. They also know what is right and wrong, regardless of what you want it to be. I hope you have an opportunity to find someone with that title that you can connect with, it is life changing.

No, the point of trolling is to irritate and get under the skin of people and in Josephs case, as well as your at times, it is to pretend you are doing kiruv by insulting and irritating people who have been educated differently (and sometimes poorly and/or wrongly) but there is a lack of the skills that is present in those who are actually capable and qualified for kiruv. The skills of repect and genuine care for the Jew himself and his growth. This style more closely resembles slamming someone over the head with information you know they will find unsettling and then throwing them onto the subway tracks and telling them it’s too bad they weren’t zoche to grow up in your shadow.

I hear your point but not sure who you are addressing or how it fits here. The thread was about the politics. And why politicians can’t resist jumping in. And why they feel politics would have helped. By listening to jackk I believe its a genuine feeling for some, including some politicians.

What did I miss?Yserbius – you took a wrong turn somewhere. I was not comparing cars and guns, I was saying that comparing gun rights to supporters of mass shootings is a false comparison. Period.
And I didn’t say anything about mental health checks. I said that our mental healthcare system is allowing dangerous, ill, and suicidal people to rot without intervention. And that contributes to the gun violence and twisted cries for fame and vengeance on systems they say failed them. Do you think these people were all healthy and well til an hour before the shootings? Do you think nobody noticed they were off, depressed, unstable but had nowhere to turn? It’s a huge problem and we are all suffering on many levels from it.That is as ignorant as saying car dealers support drunk driving. Amazing how tenuous a connection needs to be for you to blast it as political.
Anyone who actually gives a darn about this should be holding the mental health care system to task. The coverage/services/process is an abysmal failure. These shooters have been failed by the mental health excuse for a system. Then there is the inner city shootings resulting from poor management of street kids with no value for life.
If you all were willing to give up your moment to turn everything into anti republican politics and try being honest and useful you would do something about the system that is actually failing us.
I know that the schools in my community, as well as the community center went to work right away using that money to put fencing around the schools, cement posts were erected around the sidewalks and doorways to prevent a car from having direct access and the “front desk” areas were the secretaries/receptionists sit all got walled in and plexiglassed so that the people there are no longer out in the open. Some schools have security, not sure about all of them. And I know several shuls also had the posts put up to prevent car access as well as fencing. And, in some cases, a second inner door for a second layer of security.
