That story sounds like the type of thing someone who knows nothing about skokie told over as if it happened just to put the place down.

Pro vaxxers, you are doing a disservice to your cause and viewpoint by acting as 5 years old children with your name calling and shouting.

Bais hillel: welcome. You claim to have read the posts with interest but then mistakenly think the name calling and yelling was the provaxxers. If you try again you will see how many of doomsdays posts are in all caps and how many times the mods asked her to stop yelling.

How blind one can get when determined to support someone purely because they have the same views. If anything, it just prives that honesty and intefrity are NOT actually on your priority list here.

I feel nothing but pity for you. There is no question that you are unable to deal with the autism of your family member (or perhaps a los of a different family member ch”v?) and are desperate to find a place to put blame and anger. I have never witnessed such intense denial from someone who is not psychotic except in someone protecting themselves from unbearable amounts of pain. And it only points to your level of pain and need to shield yourself from reality. NOBODY who is honest would ignore the facts like you do, or scream and shout insults at full volume at everyone with a differing opinion.
I am truly sorry for your pain. I am truly sorry for the way you have chosen not to face it head on. I am truly sorry that you cannot have a genuine conversation with people on this topic. May Hashem bentch you with a yeshua.

The fact that you seem to interchange autism and vegetative state shows your ignorance.

“One slight example. A lady I know had a kid become vegetative after a vaccine. She then had 2 normal kids she didnt vaccine. Then in another kid she was convinced by doc to vaccine again. Once again became vegetative for life after..just sayin”

I have a very hard time believing that this story happened in the way you present it.

Bashing mechanchim? Expecting mechanchim and schools to do right by the klal isnt bashing. Unless you live somewhere where he is speaking to the norm, in which case i feel sad for your options.

One does not have to be out of chinuch to have those opinions, and one certsinly does not need to be in chinuch to know what’s going on. Any friend, rav, therapist, neighbor, fellow jew can speak to hanhala about a boy they care about, or a concern they are having with a teacher, and hear exactly what’s going on. If you are oseik in those receiving chinuch, you are as well informed as you choose to be.

Syag he was referring to the top of the Chabad chassidishe yomim tovim – ie special Chabad dates (There are a good few) of which YTK is definitely top.

Well that’s a lie. He was listing ALL the yomim tovim and what day of the month they fall on. He said all yomim tovim fall in the beginning or middle of the month except 2. Then he named them, Rosh hashana, sukkos etc. then he said only 2 fall at the end of the month, the Yom Tov of Chanukah, and the Yom Tov of yomim tovim (ch”v) 19 kislev

True, but many or most chassidim feel uncomfortable using it by the Rebbe, because the Frierdiker Rebbe lived on through the Rebbe while the Rebbe is still our Rebbe and has not passed on from us in any sense (like the way the Rebbe felt in tof shin yud before he accepted the nesius.) but both shittos have what to rely on.

    And there you have it

I think anyone who thinks there is actually an answer to this shouldn’t be trusted. There are so many variables that would go into this question including which yeshiva, why, where would he go instead, what have you done so far, is he broken or just battered, is the decision being made with heart, are you financially capable of helping him, are you cognitively capable of handling him, are you even sure you got the right kid, did another kid with rich parents get away with the same behaviors, who, if anyone, are you trying to impress, who if anyone are you worried about not impressing…..
    the list goes on.
This is one of those dumb questions like, “did the military make the right choice on their invasion of (fill in the blank)” where people think they can actually consider themselves informed enough to have an opinion.

umm, this isn’t color war. Hashem doesn’t pick the tzadik of the week to “listen” to. tzadik Gozer means Tzadik gozer. any and all tsaddikim, whether they are in my personal walk of life or not. Do you actually think, as you seem to imply, that Hashem decides which tzadik gets listened to, and you assume it will be “yours”?

Oh please. I hate boorish, vulgar and narcissism as much as, often more than, the next guy but stop pretending our former presidents were any less disgusting. Clinton personifies narcissism (to the point of assuming all females are his own) and greed. Obama was all about himself at anyone’s expense, as long as he could slap a sticker on it and call it a legacy.

I cant eat potatoes or sweet potatoes but i love (!!!) Latkes (hot, with cold applesauce). Last year i found a recipe online posted by a friend that were excellent! They are made from butternut squash, so she calls them “squashkes’. Just google the recipe and her name, sharon matten.( i left out the raisins) they tasted very close to the “real thing”
She just posted a recipe for gluten free sifganiot which i hope to try as well. Only caramel though, no jelly 😝

Neville- my point was that I wasn’t here r to argue nor have my mind changed. Whether my quest is doable is separate from it being what I have been doing here. And I never heard any of those things you mention, which is why I came to be informed. And when I hear something I have always been taught was wrong, how can I not want to know how someone can justify such a thing.

So we now have chossid telling us very politely and straight that Chabad puts a house in a Frum neighborhood because it is their mission to spread chassidus to those who aren’t. Perhaps he doesn’t know that the posters before him insisted they don’t approach the frum (and some just avoided answering). So did they lie? What’s with that?

Chossid, I feel obligated to tell you, because you seem to care, that when you give sincere answers that contain information we know to be against Torah, we will fight you. Not because we hate Chabad, but because we love Hashem. If you will not be able to see the responses in that light, you may want to bow out. Nobody has yet allowed us to defend Torah as we know it without calling us all sorts of things. Just as you may aggressively defend your beliefs, you should expect no less from us as we have been hearing very disturbing practices and attitudes and are following our Gedolim and Torah.

Regarding if I’ll change my mind, I would just like assurance that everything being observed by Chabad is halachically sound. I used to believe it was but CS has convinced me otherwise. I’m still willing to hear differently but seeing that she is a Shulchan and not a wacko like our other poster, it won’t be easy to undo her “teachings.

“Reb Yid: Why are anti-vaxxers obsessed with Autism?
Answer: Because Autism has gone from 1:10,000 in 1970s to 1:58 today. Autism rise directly correlates to
    increase in vaccinations.”

Do you know why these statements are just plain silly? because directly correlating means nothing. You have no possible way to control the other factors involved. None. So autism rises directly correlate to increase in vaccinations. Well guess what. Autism rises correlate to rises in use of ultrasound. Do you know that when I ws having my first kids they didn’t recommend I get ultrasounds because they could tell by the way the baby shielded his face during ultrasounds that the waves bothered him. And that we have no idea what the long term effects would be! And they really meant it when they said it too!

And autism rises correlate to rises in use of preservatives. and artificial color and flavors. and decrease in natural foods. And an increase in use of car seats – leaving kids in “container” for hours at a time (car seat to infant swing to carseat). I have a book on the effects of this type of sensory deprivation on the development of children leading to severe sensory dysfunction.

And autism rises correlate to rises in use of technology. An increase in use of 2 dimentional experience completely devoid of touch, smell, taste and severely limiting the range of eye motion and fine motor movements necessary to develop neurologically healthy.

And autism rises correlate to rises in two parent incomes where children are severely limited to exposure to their parents, the consistency of adult supervision and values across their day and week.

Can you be sure any one of these “crazy ideas” is more or less responsible for an increase in autism than vaccines? I sure can tell you that after 30 years of working closely with families and individuals touched directly by autism, my correlations make a lot more sense than a measles vaccine that only effects a tiny percentage of the people who are exposed to it. But they sure would take a lot more work on your part to rectify than just boycotting your doctor.

I think you are so far off the point of what is going on here. Thinking that understanding the Tanya will give any level of justification to taking a chumash off of it is insulting. Are you really that unaware of what we are talking about or do you think that it will just serve as a nice distraction?

I did not misread the words. Because it is familiar to you, you understood the setting differently than I did. But that does not change the fact that Neville pointed out so clearly. I listened to a certain torah lecturer enthusiastically but then he said or did something that stretched Halacha a bit too far and that was the end. When people do things that are WRONG, give chashivus to things differently than Torah dictates, you and the other lubavitchers should have gone packing. If you want to counter that you were already taken by his other, positive traits you are describing cult behavior which I don’t think would be smart.

If anyone saw their rebbe put something on a chumash, that should have immediately sent them packing. If there is evidence that the lubavitcher rebbe put a tanya on a chumash then regardless of anything there is to say, CS, SH and the rest have no valid words to defend him, nor anyone who tokerated auch a thing. If that is true, there is NOTHING else.

Anonymous- that would be a good point if it made sense but your bigotry seems to be clouding your vision. Getting benefits from a country where you are employed and pay taxes is not a parallel to celebrating a holiday.
If you work for a company that handed out bonuses to its employees and you didn’t get one you would cry out that you are also an employee, but when they offer everyone a ticket to a musical on a Friday night and you don’t accept, are you suddenly claiming not to be an employee anymore?

I’m very grateful to be in America and love the day off. I love pumpkin pie and I am grateful for all the things I need that are on sale. I didn’t realize that having a meal was a Halacha of the day. I learned that it was the establishment of a moed that was the problem and not Chukas hagoyim. If there are people believing that by not eating turkey I have not been grateful, well then maybe those people have lost sight of who determines the “rules”.

separately from that, after your comments on this thread (as opposed to the one way back) I am willing to accept that there may be a whole different breed (not condescending, just can’t think of a different word) of chabadniks then those who fill our worlds (and I do mean fill). I still am far from impressed by the full-of-yourself attitude that keeps coming up as in your above comment, Yseigals post and so many others. Even the rude posters here are complaining about shittas that Chabad holds, not sitting and talking about how much better we are than you or anyone else. Please tell me nobody is stupid enough to think that inferences can be made by such a crazy correlation!
First of all, ER probably have more germs in them than any other part of the hospital because nobody knows what the people in the waiting room are walking in with. There are lots of people who avoid ERs for that, and aa hundred other reasons.
Second, i have a $250 co pay for the er, as opposed to $20 for my doctor, whereas some have no insurance and *have* to use the er.
I think under vaccinated children also smell more flowers. Maybe thats what is keeping them out of the er.
