YA – your post is pure baloney, but I assume you know that as it is somewhat obvious from your tone that you are being completely facetious.

“People conclude that creamers like this are only dairy equipment when this is, in fact, real dairy.”

that is just ignorance (my first choice of word was stupidity) on their part. When I buy soy or almond milk (for example) there is often an OUD and I know that it is 100% my achrius to find out if it is milchik or not. Are people really that ….basic?

Laskern – PLEASE double check with your rav regarding cooking on Shabbos. I believe you are NOT permitted to put cold liquids on a hot plate and have it turn on on Shabbos. Also, and I don’t remember who wrote it above, I am pretty certain you can NOT heat congealed fat or margarine or any solid in a place where it will melt EVEN IF it will not get to YSB

“Yet, if I come and point my pin at their frummie bubble, showing them plenty of areas of being meikil or even going outright against halacha (as in Heicha kedusha), they freak and get bent out of shape, justifying, rationalizing and battling to remain on their frum perch which is being shaken.”

No,they get bent out of shape because you are lying, twisting Halacha, misrepresenting their arguments, defending potential kefira, yelling at people for things they didn’t say or believe, denigrate Gedolim, bad mouth Gedolim while pretending you aren’t, and did I say twisting Halacha? Yes, any good yid will tzitter on their perch when someone plays games with Halacha as you do.

THAT’s what makes them uncomfortable. As it should. But *your* bubble seems to extend as far as your imaginary audience, leaving little room for authentic Torah and actual social interaction.

Apy and milhouse are correct, and i agree that it is not right to badmouth the OU over this. The creamers say non dairy and the OU labeled it OUD! Do you always use store labels to determine kashrus?
And to whomever said they have plenty non dairy products in their fridge that say non dairy….cmon! Are you just playing or are you missing the point? Coffee creamer/whitener is generally milk or cream. That is why it advertises as non dairy. The same way fake meat is advertised as meatless.

I know people have gripes with the OU and I don’t know if they are legitimate grioes or not, but this one sounds like an uneducated consumer issue and it may be wrong to aim it at the OU.

Neville- RG is obviously a member of chabad. Knowing that this book would be published wouldn’t be shocking, and therefore dragging it in here makes perfect sense. Why assume he authored it tho? Unless you are saying its his style to gather quotes out of context and call yourself an expert. (Haven’t researched the sefer, just trying to clarify your stance)

I find your idea of playing games involving great people to be highly offensive. Of course we know you dont mind offendi g people, it’s all part of your peace spreadi g mission. And using the term thick skinned to paint you as a victim instead of being honest was a creative touch.

Neville – why assume that? most of the topics he started were taken from things being discussed, or topics he started to set up posters to give answers that parallel things they objected to when in the Chabad context. I have no idea who this author is, but nobody who is writing sforim is sitting here pretending to be a rebbitzen, and I strongly believe (and have experienced) people who really are talmidei chochomim (if the author is such) could not even fake that level of self importance.
The funniest part to me is that he thought he could convince people he wasn’t a chabadnik.

Jewish1-you seem to have missed the point in a big way. It is *because* of their rabbis that they make a machaa against certain practices (not the ones practicing, a point that is deliberately twisted by those practicing).

Frpggie- he asked if they are evil, and you said, “in answer to your question, yes he is a sinner”. The answer is no, HE is not evil. But his lifestyle is wrong and there is no flexibility on that.

This is a huge problem with online chats, and this happens too often. Outsiderlookingin, you are badly blurring the lines between what people are saying is wrong and what that means about people themselves. And in all fairness it isn’t being preaented very well. I cannot tell if it is deliberate on your part or if you are sincere. The questions are being asked in a way that requires a harsh response to the presentation that there is a moral compass outside of Torah, but your underlying quest for understanding the effects of not knowing the effects of this needs to be answered differently.
There is an obligation to respond harshly to the blurring of these lines of morality, but there is also an obligation to hear and respond to the questions of those who don’t know in a manner that encourages growth.
You may need a real life person for that, there are answers and in a face to face setting you may gain understanding.

Joseph – I would not have expected such an ignorant comment from you. As much as you enjoy cheppering, you usually have a better handle on your fellow posters. Not that CTL needs any help from me, I just am getting a bit tired of posters deciding that he has too much money and therefore is guilty of everything they have determined to be characteristic of that. Shame on you for being so gullible.
First of all, you completely missed his meaning on that comment due to your jumping to conclusions. Secondly, which vacation of his do you think was the problem? Pesach hotel perhaps? Summers in venice or maybe the cruise around the world?
Unless I am wrong, I think you owe him an apology.

Joseph – I don’t know if the vast majority of the middle class saw a reduction, I think the difference is how many young children you have. Those with no very young children lost out on the dependents without getting increases in child related credits. Those who have no very young and many over 18 probably took a hit.

CTL – I definitely hear you and believe your story. And I feel bad because no matter how much you have, you are entitled to have whatever you came to honestly and living a “richer life” does not entitle others to care less about your loss. I want to ADD, however, that my tax return showed a tremendous drop in my deductions but an increase in other areas, leaving me with almost the same return. And I just helped two other families file their taxes. One received very little in return and one received thousands more, thru various credits, than they would have otherwise received. And that is food money. So while I do NOT belittle your loss, my happiness for those with small kids, private tuitions etc who now get enough more to cover some bills makes it worthwhile in my eyes. And thankfully, two of those families won’t have to pay a fine they can’t afford for not having health insurance that they can’t afford.

Again, my point is not to negate your claim or belittle your complaint, it is to make you aware that there are a lot of people out there who are benefitting greatly. Please be happy for them as they are no less important US citizens than you and yours.

Baltimore – I think haimy’s OP was a bunch of lies meant to annoy and irritate people into coming on here and arguing (this is only one of many such threads of his). So yes, his statements about chareidim are just as ignorant and false as his statement about MO marrying with divorce in mind. BUT – your comment about only the mother seeing the picture is pure fantasy. I have tens of pictures of single girls on my phone sent to me by single guys close to my family asking what I think. And I am one of a handful of others getting them. They also go to sisters, cousins who coach them on shidduchim, friends who give “objective” opinions.

I was actually sickened yesterday when one of the guys sent me a picture of a girl who was more average build sitting at a café with an iced coffee. She was a beautiful girl, possibly a bit overweight in the middle but still beautiful. What is his comment? I don’t know what someone like that is doing with an iced coffee with whipped cream, she sure doesn’t need the calories. This from a guy who would NEVER talk like that about another person. A soft spoken tzanua personality. but this shidduch picture thing is a scam. it’s just disgusting.

No, they explained pretty clearly what was wrong with it. But you are not only willing to acknowledge that they had a point, you are even denying that they responded! Thats a bit bizaarre.

I agree with Wolf on this. In many many litvish circles if you start off a sentence with ‘the rebbe’ they will assume you are talking about your son’s teacher. If a chassid starts a sentence with ‘the rebbe’ there is no doubt they are speaking of their own rebbe. We only assume ‘the rebbe’ to be a reference to the lubavitcher rebbe of a lubavitcher said it or if that is the specific topoc of conversation. (Or on the occassion that he is dead and tbey say shlita anyway)
