Anyone hoping to browse, post or join an unfiltered, unmoderatorated forum/platform has really lost site of where their priorities and moral values should lie. Freedom of speech is great. I hope it gets up and running. But I hope and pray that no jew will be willing to immerse themselve in that kind of filth. Never thought I could sound so …unworldly but the stuff you guys expose to yourselves out there (according to what you have told us about here) makes me very sad for us. This isn’t preachy from me to you, I include myself in this nisayon as well.

I think the real answer to his question though is that the CR was one of the few moderated places to go to talk to other frum people and back then, I hate to say the truth, but people cared about what they exposed themselves to more than now. People send around not so appropriate memes that they never would have forwarded years back. They “skip over” nivel peh and topics that would never have been given their attention in the past. Anyone who reads comments on articles (anywhere) is exposing themselves to tons that most of us would never have considered letting into our heads 10 years ago.
So back when there was no whatsapp and people were more careful about what they read we had the CR for connecting and schmoozing. People now have whatsapp groups giving their phone numbers away like it ‘s nothing. Times have changed (unfortunately)
And last piece, I think, was the twitter damage. People used to have conversations. Even pig headed, narrow minded ones. Things evolved over time to people throwing pot shots, responses, put downs at each other. We take up a cause and get ready for battle. If you compare even the angry threads from before that time, it is so much different than the machine gun style, spit your piece out to the world type of “communicating”, sometimes on three different forums at the same time.
Not everyone does this obviously, not every conversation is like this, but it is definitely a very huge shift from before. People have causes, defend their teams. It used to be like that in the zionist/anti zionist threads but all others were more conversationalistic. Now….You have covid? How did you get covid with your whole country on lockdown? Either way, refuah shlaima!

Reb E – I always felt your posts read as if English was not your first language but it never occurred to me to comment, criticize or point it out. He already told you the simple fact that kids are learning to write with technology that automatically capitalizes so it’s not a practiced skill. I did not say I have a positive opinions regarding labels. I said that if you are going to label me, I want you to do it appropriately so that it is communicative and productive. Which is exactly what you said at the end of that post when you gave a label you felt was more appropriate.
In response to your question, don’t you think it a bit silly to rant in protest of something you obviously have not researched? The question you are asking is the equivalent of: why do they call it a cold when your temperature is really hot?

I didn’t say I liked labels. I also don’t like over used labels or misplaced labels or misunderstood labels. But to say ADHD doesn’t exist because I don’t like labels is childish.

Generally you can tell who is actually not reading the jewish books by the rude/derogatory/untrue descriptors and comments they use to describe them, as if they read them, to excuse themselves from reading the stuff they shouldn’t.

Abba- that is not what I read, but like I said, if you know differently then wonderful. I just don’t know what the ketch is about since those are all his expenses anyway. I’m sure my kids expenses eat up most if not all of my income, so? Did someone promise otherwise? What kind of person complains about supporting their own kids?
TLIK – alimony is based on income, child support is based on expenses. But I only know local so that info is from a handful of websites. If you know differently from experience I defer to you.
