JHF – I would comment but then there would be some odd sort of continuity.

Pressed wildflowers are nicer than lupins.

WORST: Yiddish (and unfortunately many who speak it)

BEST: The unspoken language between friends and the unspoken words of the non verbal children I work with.

what in the world happened to the classic rating system for girls? im totally fine with the way it was before…1-10 rating works just perfectly

What about the classic rating system for guys? I’m totally fine with the way it was when I was single . . . somewhat jerky – total jerk.

    (Obviously I’ve matured since then)

SiDi thanks. Put in adblocker, am gonna try the other one now too.

Moski – info like that seems to be dangerous for me, I thought I would make everything blue but accidently changed the letters to transparent with a black background. I think I’ll stick to low tech art instead.

WELCOME BACK!! I cannot fathom how this thread got missed. I read those threads intensely to glean what I can so my kids WON’T be OTD. Many of them struggle in school and we see the potential pitfalls. Any advice on one foot or do I need to come up with a question?

Same as coffee addict, I want Moshiach because the world is upside down and I am finding the nisyonos to be painful and exhausting. I also desperately would like to see my parents and sisters again. My strongest desire for Moshiach, however, is my burning desire to raise my kids without the pull of the yetzer hora. I would love to spare them the pitfalls and pain of falling prey, and would love to see them love Hashem and His Torah with all their being. I know it sounds corny/cliche, I would never have imagined myself to think/feel that way, but I have really come to feel this way over the long bumpy years.

Y.W. Editor – great response. I personally would be willing to take the harassment if it means I could have a legitimate excuse to be in the CR. And besides, I do community service, I’m harassed anyway 🙂

I am a therapist but am on my computer during breaks. The CR did not make it thru my work place’s filter in the past but this year I would post whenever I was supposed to be writing an important report. Otherwise I didn’t have time. Now I have to taser my kids to free up the computer and enter the internet access code that they don’t know about in a hidden place under the stairs so they won’t see. It makes it hard to post too often but it’s a good deterrent against CR addiction.

Mazel Tov on your baby, by the way. You may want to squeeze in a few minutes of sleep between posts.

I have wondered how shopping seems to know so much in such an allegedly short time. Such as the thread where she seems to know who has multiple screen names. Hmmm. A former lurker perhaps? Or maybe a gilgul? I would nominate you for most mysterious but the title already has been given to someone else.

I used to use mozzarella but it would do the “not responding” thing way too often. I switched to Chrome and now I’m sold. I’m too illiterate to know anything about add-ons, but I do know that Chrome always offers me my most used pages when I open a page.

    yentingyenta – I swear it wasn’t me!

Seriously though, I have received about 4 or 5 of those from friends who got hacked. The email said something like, “Hey, check out this cool website”. I was stupid enough to click on it that first time and now I get HUNDREDS of spam emails directly into my inbox. If that is what your friends got, it may just be that, and not something harmful. Majorly annoying, but it was my fault for clicking the link (only once).

How did you check your activity? I have 4 or 5 accounts for different work stuff and only my personal one got spammed. I assume it was because that was the address my friend had.

BH- 113 with the heat index, really it’s only a mere 103. I just finished my coffee but a case of freeze pops would be nice. Hashem extended the heat wave another day so shabbos afternoon freeze pops and cold cholent may be on the menu. If anyone has any good menu ideas that dont involve ovens I’ open!

Thanks SiDi, it’s been 21 years. By the time he finished his months in yeshiva the cut offs (and grateful dead t-shirts) were history but I know I myself never would have grown an inch had I not married a BT in ‘growing mode’. As I think back I remember that I did alot by rote, I never learned alot about the musser and philosophy behind the mitzvos. I was so awed by how much he understood and the explanations he could give me for why certain things would bring you closer to Hashem. And during all that, in the back of my mind, I was still wanting to rush him into some of the outer changes that would make him look more like everyone else. Shame on me, I know. B”H I knew I was wrong and Hashem rewarded my patience with his changes, and my knowing how unimportant they really were.

Sorry for veering off course – – – you may proceed.

I was asked to work at a new camp program for kids with disabilities (completely secular environment). The director said they needed me full time and not to even think of taking early Fridays to travel for shidduchim. I was thrilled. After 6 years I got a whole month off of dating!!! I hated dating and because I grew up MO and became more yeshivish-ish I was considered a BT by the yeshivish guys and FFB by the BT’s. I was often fixed up with people waaaaay off from where I was holding. (I would travel to NY but only to date other OOTers) One of the male counselors was a border of the director. They talked him into working for them at the last minute, for the month before he left for Israel to learn. He was in cut offs and t-shirts and I had no idea what his story was (I was dating BMG guys). As time went on I realized this guy was more “frum” than I thought and was shtarker than my friends and I. He just hadn’t been ready to make that uniform change. Needless to say, four weeks later, without even a single date, I knew who my ‘other half’ was. If you saw how he was dressed when I met him you would NEVER have redt him to me. And I never would have said yes. Hashem certainly has his ways.

He wasn’t at the first performance, it was taped beforehand so he could attend his graduation. But I think he was actually at the second one in vegas. If you watched the rest of the show you would be praying he sat backstage with his eyes closed and ears shut. He is a wonderful boy and he is observant, I would love for him to win the million dollars but I have to say, I hope he doesn’t win. I agree with Miss Doe and nfgo.

I don’t make a bracha on water at all. And I only drink it if I have to. It gives me stomach aches and heartburn (yes, I am serious). I can go weeks without drinking any water but then I usually end up with an infection of some kind so I am more careful to drink regularly even though I’d rather not. It’s fun to swim in though, and I still thank Hashem it exists.
