🍫Syag LchochmaParticipant
Yes, it is. Our train system is pretty simplistic, which makes it easy to use but you can’t get to too many places. Subways are intimidating if you aren’t used to them and don’t really know where you are going. I was also nervous about her standing on streets at night alone with lots of luggage. Either way, we’ll still be happy to pick you up! We can even drive you through a DD on the way 🙂
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantWolf – thank you for that post!!!! It was positive and upbeat and informative! A real A+ of a post!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantThat’s why I don’t read through old threads 😉
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantYentingyenta – mazel tov on a family simcha
Mazel Tov to midwesterner and family on another Shalom Zachor!!!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantOH Gosh! I gotta go find that other thread!!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantAnd you missed the point of hashgacha. When DD ran out of oil on a saturday night they went to a neighboring franchise for replacement oil and paid them back when they got their next shipment. When they got their hechsher they were stuck and called the rabbi to say they ran out of oil. The Rabbi was able to get them the oil they needed from another kosher place. Yes, the mixes are all kosher, but nobody franchised the cooking oil. (and that’s just what I know second hand from the mashgiachs wife, I am sure there are other issues as well).
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantWell, as it ended up we are too out-of-town to take a subway without very specific instructions and there was too much luggage. She took the shuttle crdle mentioned that went from JFK to grand central station to Newark. It was $24 and she paid in advance. Down side is that she had to walk a block at grand central to wait for the next shuttle and with the non-direct flight she took this morning she probably could have driven in less time.
Thanks so much to all for your replies.
And btw, if anyone comes to Chicago, we would be happy to pick you up from the airport.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI would be surprised if there was a diary out there that hadn’t been read by the wrong person somewhere down the years. And chances are, if the person knows you, they may know people you have written about. I would use pseudonyms.

🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantWow – you got home quickly. My daughter has a stopover in MN so this will be a long trip.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantbut odds are a size 2 20 year old will be skinnier at 30 than a size 12.
but she won’t be happier 😛
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantthanx
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantWhen I saw zdad’s answer I was very grateful because I was expecting one more like akuperma’s. 🙂
Will pass on the info – thanks much!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantsometimes your sarcasm is offensive. not everything someone says needs to be turned into a joke.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantwhy did that long post get approved before my teeny tiny one?
Because it was on the first page.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI didn’t say SORTING THROUGH, I said choosing.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantICOT – thank you for your special posts
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantSaysMe – so well said
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipanthe demands that she or her father does that for him.
there’s your answer
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantOMG, I was also wearing black!!! I hope we weren’t wearing the same dress! My daughter’s going to Passaic tomorrow, maybe it will be warmer there.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantweeks ago. My husband and I were either loading up my van or emptying it. Don’t remember now.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantNo restraint, always thought of it as not tznius. I always felt like it was like standing up in front of a mixed crowd and speaking. Most of my comments on other’s threads are just comments and not noticed much. I even noticed that there were much much fewer threads started by females even though (at the time I was checking on it) many of the posters were female. Either way, it was to make a point . . .
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantoomis – I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s not my birthday for another 11 months but I wish you koach and Syata Dshmaya to get through whatever is facing you.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantDoes that imply that Hitchhikers Guide was also Divinely inspired?
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantpostsem – you passed my house with your mom and looked at me funny. I assumed you were putting two and two together. If your mom wasn’t with you I might have said something.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI can’t believe we were in the same room and I didn’t see you!!!! (actually it isn’t real hard to believe since I haven’t a clue who you are)
I also think it’s cold out as soon as it dips below 68.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantSJSinNYC – Real yeshivish people don’t post here. It’s mostly impersonators out to make them look bad. And doing well, I must say, but the opposition doesn’t come out too impressive either. I used to go nuts, now I try to pity them and move on.
Been choosing my real life friends more selectively too and life has certainly improved.
(musser zogger not excluded)
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantpopa – he didn’t say there was something wrong with it. He said he posts for an ego boost which is why he won’t bother posting if he isn’t gonna get responses.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI’m giving someone a ride to the airport from the wedding, maybe they are staying at your house.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantHey, are you here for the wedding?????
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantYou have got to be kidding! First of all, I know that I, for one, said hi to you every time you posted. So if you are calling me no one – ouch.
Secondly, what are you talking about? Your birthday thread was answered by many people. And whoever the important people are that you consider someone, well many of them aren’t on anymore so they can’t be faulted for not rolling out the red carpet.
**pouting and dejected**
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantNow that is a yiddishe kup!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantmischiefmaker – count me in!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantAMEN!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantHappy Birthday Coffee!
Can you give me a brocha that all my boys should find yeshivas where they will grow in Torah and Ahavas Hashem? From you it might mean something.
Yasher Koach and many, many more wonderful years with your Mrs. and offspring!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantSaysMe – nothing to apologize for. You wrote a poem asking who cares, listens and notices and I answered that I do. Sorry I wasn’t clear.
Hope things are looking up (or at least not quite as down)
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI’m trying not to get angry when hurt, I’m trying to do everything I do with more intent/kavana and purpose. Also Tehillim. And posting this, even though I feel uncomfortable doing so, is in the hope of giving chizuk to others to do something too, which is also a zchus for the klal.

November 21, 2012 4:32 am at 4:32 am in reply to: VAS License Plates on a Non-Emergency Vehicle #1031366🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantYou probably misread my tone, I thought it was pretty funny.
🙂 <- that means ‘read with smirk or smile’
(I should add taamei mikra but I don’t have davka writer)
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipanthey SaysMe, I do!
November 21, 2012 3:46 am at 3:46 am in reply to: VAS License Plates on a Non-Emergency Vehicle #1031364🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantCAD – thanks,apology accepted 🙂

November 21, 2012 1:25 am at 1:25 am in reply to: VAS License Plates on a Non-Emergency Vehicle #1031361🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI stopped reading this thread for obvious reasons but then I saw your name and was excited to see what you had to say. Now I’m sorry I did.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantcrgo – what a beautiful post!
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantNo
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantzahavasdad wasn’t the OP
November 19, 2012 6:24 pm at 6:24 pm in reply to: VAS License Plates on a Non-Emergency Vehicle #1031343🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantyou must be joking
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantmiritchka : +1 And I’m sorry you have to listen to that, B”H where I live most of those getting assistance hate and and wouldn’t discuss it with anyone. Your honesty is a blessing.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantWOW – Mazel tov and Hashem should bentch you with Koach and a yeshua.
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantdolphina (and zdad) – Once again I agree with you that many posters have given good support to your distate for them and their way of life. It just hurts me that you aren’t able to see how similar your attitude is to theirs. When someone posts that there are government programs, the first response from those who are anti-chareidi (or whatever) is the assumption that they are loafing, fixing books and dishonest. I am not trying to argue with you, there are so many idiots out there doing just what you discribe but why is your assumption about them any more “halachically appropriate” then their assumptions.
Please don’t lower yourself to that and please don’t be so accusing and hurtful to those of us who have chosen to live a chareidi-ish life but are NOT doing any of the things you speak of.
Some of us are working very hard and raising our kids with the minimum and have accepted government hep during those years that we couldn’t manage on our own. Getting a $1000 raise meant losing $10,000 in benefits and now not making ends meet at all. Do I fix the books to continue getting the benefits? No. Do I chose to take lower pay so I can party on all those extras the governemnt gives me? No. I turned down a better (much better) paying job because I didn’t want my kids waking themselves up in the morning and putting them selves on a bus. I took a lower paying job so I can be home with them in the summer since we can’t afford to send them to camp and I don’t want them home alone. I took a lower paying job so that I could pick them up after school instead of sending them on a bus to an empty house. Do I owe you any explanations? No, but you have embarrassed me even more than the government applications do and I needed to defend myself to get a shred of my dignity back.
You think that everyone in a black hat acts like that? Maybe it’s time to realize that there are other communities and cities out there (WOW – really?) where those types of behaviors aren’t rampant, or aren’t even the norm.
I am not denying the validity of your claims against SOME people who should know better, but PLEASE don’t stoop to their level by assuming everyone in THEIR mode of dress is doing the same garbage either.
(thanks for listening)
🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantdolphina – you are correct. Not sure why you assume the worst right away though. His words were:
Every Jew who is eligible
that would rule out those who aren’t. Even if they fix their books to make it look like they are.
