The drug Lords and robber barons like Carlos Slim enjoy a good life in Mexico the only reason they would come to the US would be to expand their operations.most illegal immigrants come to escape from a country where life is unbearable unless you belong to one of the classes mentioned above.

Tact and backbone are not mutually exclusive.

Tact and diplomacy are more than just niceties when you’re head of state. Diplomacy can spell the difference between war and peace (yes even nowadays).

A president needs to have the ability to know how stick to his principles whilst still using common sense. Obama doesn’t have it and neither does Trump. (Or maybe Obama doesn’t have principles and Trump doesn’t have sense)

Saying everything as it is doesn’t make you truthful, it makes you an idiot.

Diplomacy and tact are requirements for this job.

Is it socially responsible to secure our belongings, thieves will move on and look for an easier target. Is it your fault if somebody else gets robbed?

I think this question could be asked about anything we do that makes safer, healthier, wealthier etc.

Most victims cannot bring themselves to report and go through the whole procedure in court reliving the trauma over and over again.

This is probably one of the main reasons why abusers are able to get away not only in our community but all across society.

Had we had a system where it was dealt with effectively without reporting we might have been much better off not to mention safer, the trouble is though, that far too often we FAILED to deal with it in any way.

He made promises that are either impossible to carry out or extremely dumb, like the proposed 40% on US goods made in Mexico, which happens to be illegal or building a wall and making them pay for it which is just silly and it all seemed like a good laugh but then we saw his ratings soar, which begs the question haven’t we learnt anything from Barack Obama? Will we be blinded by another guy promising overly simple solutions to not so simple problems, or do the polls not really reflect reality?

Yes but the Mexicans are not SENDING us their people these people are coming across in hopes of a better life. “They’re sending us their worst people” he repeated this a few times, and when a reporter asked him about the derogatory comments he said it again “I think it’s fair to say they’re not sending us their highest quality people”.

He may have made some valid arguments but the fact that he talked about them sending over their worst people not their best*, shows that he sees the world in a very childish way, so can we take him seriously?

I think this is the first time I agree with the left, the guy is nuts.

*Not to mention some of the other truly ridiculous things he said.

What the government would really want to do is ban alcohol altogether it’s too late to do that now(prohibition proved that) so they make it ilegal for under 21s hoping that if you don’t experiment as a teen you never will. It doesn’t work of course!

    For heaven’s sake comon guys!

(I don’t mean anyone on particular)

When you see an ad in the paper advertising ecigs do you feel the need to run an ad telling kids it’s not cool?

If I would have asked about the kashrus of soft drinks and soda would you have also felt it necessary to point out the dangers?

There may be a problem of YOUNG teens experimenting with ecigs and I stress YOUNG because I have yet to meet anyone over the age of fifteen who started with an ecig as opposed to switching from its more deadly cousin but the fault here lies entirely with those who sell ecigs to YOUNG teens. (I’m all for making it a punishable offense to sell ecigs to anyone under the age of 18/21 but leave us adults alone)

This whole idea of ecigs being a gateway to regular cigarettes is utter nonsense! A bunch of hogwash being touted by nanny state advocating left wing loonies who wish you to believe that anything other than using an eco-friendly shopping bag and riding a bicycle will kill you, those around you and the earth for good measure.

So here I am a mature adult trying to have an intelligent conversation with other grown ups about something which according to it’s harshest critics is much safer than cigarettes, something which has helped millions of smokers like me kick or at least fight a very dangerous habit but all I get is some babble about teens thinking it’s cool. So let me make this clear; kids, teens and any adult out there foolish enough to think that smoking of any kind is cool please take note, IT’S NOT, not cool at all it’s highly addictive, contains dangerous chemicals, it’s affects are still unknown and it’s sometimes extremely annoying to people around you. Now can we get back on topic?

All I wanted was an answer to a halachic query which I still haven’t gotten.

I never meant to offend anyone nor was it my intention to encourage smoking of ANY KIND.

If you feel that this thread is somehow encouraging, glorifying or even normalising smoking then by all means, go ahead and share your concerns with the mods, perhaps they’ll agree with you and close it.

If you want to discuss the dangers of smoking, please feel free to start a new thread, this one is not about that.

If you actually have an answer to my question, I’d love to hear it.

I don’t wanna go in to this debate but I just wanted to point out some of the facts about ecigs.

    1) They have been proven to work as a cessation device.

    3) Even it’s detractors agree that it is certainly a healthier alternative to regular cigarettes.

    4) The only danger that has been proven is that when used at a very high temperature for a long time certain harmful elements are released but as any ecig user will tell you doing so would result in a burnt taste(something particularly unpleasant) akin to eating burnt steak which is also associated with the same dangers.

    5) The big tobacco companies are constantly looking got ways to undermine East cigarettes and make them seem like a bigger danger than they actually are .

    6) The problem of children starting with these devices could easily be solved by making it illegal to sell to anyone underage.

Moderator: At the moment I only use Dropsmoke for that reason but it’s not always available on my side of the pond and I actually prefer another brand.

Feivel: I think the reasoning is that since this particular product was designed to ingest through vaping it us considered derech achila but I’m really sure which is why I was looking for halachic sources.

Zhavasdad:The song hashem melech, the original is actually c’est la vie by Cheb Kahled (not that it really makes a difference)

I was actually quite Shocked the first time I heard it a wedding especially by the way the crowd was dancing to it.

Yidden by MBD is a cover of Dschinghis Khan by Dschinghis Khan a German band. I would argue the tune is quite appropriate for a song celebrating a mass murderer like Genghis Khan, not so much for MBD’s more inspiring lyrics.
