    Sam2:

“sushibagel: A Rodef based on an improper assumption is still a Rodef.”

A rodef based on an improper definition of a roidef is not.

i’m assuming you call them roidfim because they endanger our lives with their actions. do you really believe that?

That’s irrelevant, the point is that meeting with a rasha doesn’t make one a moiser. I far ad we know there was no mesira involved.

I see I keep on leaving out words have to be more careful in the future.

    1) they argue that they’re showing the Arabs that Jews are NOT Their enemies.

    2) I’m NOT siding with them in any way.

The answer is in your question. ” but if your hand can do the job just as well BUT THERE ARE EXTERNAL FACTORS PREVENTING YOU””

This would be a good example of external factors.

Just to be clear, I’m siding with them in any way. I find their behaviour absolutely disgusting and seeing them in the news makes my blood boil. Still, the torah is not about how we feel.

Coffee addict: Chillul shabbos bferhesia makes them a lot worse them than reshaim it makes them korfim but the majority of them are not mechallel shabbos bferhesia.

Sam: And why would they be considered roidfim?

Don’t tell me that they’re showing the terrorists it’s ok to kill Jews, they will argue the exact opposite. Both arguments equally hold no weight.

My point is that although we may find their behaviour abhorrent, we can’t just classify them as reshaim apikorsim etc. There has to be an halchic basis to it.

Unless you find a reason to reason to classify them as such then all the halachos of bein adam lchaveiro apply as well as chezkas kashrus and all the halachos pertaining to it. You can count them for minyan, drink their wine etc.( unlike the others kJ mentioned)

Can NK be classified as reshaim Al pi halacha? I doubt it but unless they are ahavas yisrael extends to them as well.

MDG: Have you a ever spoken to a member of the NK?

They actually have quite a reasonable explanation. They claim that they’re actually protecting Jews all around by Showing the Arabs that it’s a purely political issue and Jews are their enemies.

I don’t agree with them I think they’re a bunch of misguided lunatics but they’re certainly not driven by hatred. Wishful thinking, stupidity perhaps but not hatred.

Exactly! And until the Maskilim persuaded the government to forbid Jews from dressing differently most European Jews dressed like the chassidim dress today. The chassidim considered it to be an eis shmad making it yeharog vaal yavor and stuck to their traditions with mesiras nefesh.

The non chassidim did adopt the more modern dress.

When the goyim stopped wearing hats and jackets the yeshivish world kept the formal dress code thereby distinguishing themselves once again.

Barry: The streimel might have been inspired by the hats nobleman wore but wasn’t copied. Jews throughout the ages always dressed differently than the goyim, now their dressed was influenced by the societies in which they lived but it was always different.

    Barry: capitulation is right

I agree but it’d more about finding a good solution than about not giving in.

The fact is that the sanctions didn’t slow them down, on the contrary it only seemed to make them more defian, their pride wouldn’t allow them to give in. This new deal gives them an opportunity to give in with their pride intact, it’s let’s the feel like winners but but still forces them to change.

Of course that only works in theory, the medrash tells us what’s really going to happen. Very interesting and very scary.

I find it hard to swallow that logic.

Presumably the members of that kehila came from a kehila that did wear hats therefore bu not wearing hats they were going against halacha and being mevatel a minahg.

Ouch that came out a little jumbled, let’s try again.

I keep getting invites from people I don’t know, they’re often not even in the same industry as I am.

Should I be wary, or is it good to have as many connections as possible?

We do love him, we love seeing him on screen, we love his outrageous comments. Donald Trump is a most loveable oddball, we just don’t quant him as President.

Likewise we would have loved Obama as an inspirational speaker but unfortunately he chose a different career.

Talking during davening is very wrong as a matter of fact the shulchan aruch says ??????? ?? something something we don’t find anywhere else.

What I don’t get though, is why do we feel the need to always equate or lessen one wrongdoing when discussing another. For example; lashon hora always brings up a discussion about tznius?

The source I posted isn’t the only one btw there is another place in shulchan aruch that talks specifically about a beged elyon, I think it’s by birchos hamazon. Sam, Joseph can you help me out?

Ubiquitin: not respecting the consumers values… “if that were the case they wouldn’t do it every year”

That is hardly the case! Most business owners do not bother doing the minimum research to see if their ads are actually achieving anything and in many cases they are actually doing more harm than good. As someone who deals with advertising on a daily basis I can attest to that.

Advertising a dairy menu is fine, what I meant was advertisers that write things like ” 9 days, try something new every day “

“come try our amazing dishes you won’t even miss eating meat” or ” come discover the joys of dairy. Can you really not see the difference or are you just being deliberately obtuse?

He said they’re rapists they’re murderers they’re drug dealers I don’t think he meant that all of them are all 3.

Either way he implied that most of them are criminals so it doesn’t really a make a difference.

I know the importance of advertising I actually work in advertising but some things are more important than making a sale, beside there are other more effective ways of advertising that don’t comprise our values.

Not respecting the consumers values can actually harm brand image.

The purpose of not eating meat during the nine days, which is to remember the churban beis hamikdash, so to that into a benefit isn’t quite right.

I know it’s a bit off topic but is it right for stores and restaurants to advertise exciting menus especially for the 9 days as if we’re no more than a great opportunity to widen your food horizons. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?

Not wearing a jacket when davening and talking during davening are both against Halacha. Talking is probably worse but one could argue that talking during davening is succumbing to temptation whilst not wearing a jacket is disrespecting it to begin with.
