Shulamis bas Sora is doing very well, funny you bring this topic up now. just saw her the other day 🙂 And if I hadn’t known anything happened to her I would never have guessed B”H.
Still in intense therapy but she’s back in school (as far as I know at least).
streekgeekParticipantLG – lol I actually just listened to it last night without seeing your post. It was really great awesome!
showjoe – 🙂 good to know there are others here as well that y’know…
streekgeekParticipantAs writer soul said, maybe a mani/pedi gift certificate?
streekgeekParticipantMod’s – do you see this thread? I once used to be good…
And I once used to be bad. But look at me now. My subtitle says it all 🙂
streekgeekParticipantRD – Careful!! You’re treading in dangerous waters.
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/three-chairs-for-the-mods#post-498474
streekgeekParticipantThis thread seems to be the place that PAA can say whatever he wants and no one responds…
PAA – You mind explaining what you’re saying the past few posts? I liked where this thread was heading till I got lost and didn’t understand what was flying…
streekgeekParticipantCan’t believe its this time of year again…
Good Shabbos everyone!
streekgeekParticipantLook your hair can’t be that bad,
Cuz mine is the absolute worst!!!
Oh so there’s a competition now… Well, I would win hands down, without a question. Shopping – ever tried thinnings? It will probably tame it down a lot because there would be a lot less hair contributing to the look, though if you love your “mane” like I love mine than you probably would find it a bit traumatic.
streekgeekParticipantThanks!! And I sure hope your lucky wife finds you soon SIDI!
streekgeekParticipantLittle Froggie – I wasn’t talking about you there…though I can ask you the same question I asked her. Which is the person you really are? The one who you are here, or who you claim to be IRL? And don’t you find it confusing to live with so many sides to yourself? It gets a little complex, no?
streekgeekParticipantLiving with the truth, in my opinion, is more “blissful” (that’s not a word y’know…) because that’s just the way I am. I believe it’s just a matter of personality. Though after giving it some thought, the people who choose the easy way out are usually more bitter when it comes to many things because they don’t think too deeply about their existence and therefore they just don’t appreciate the simple joys in life that some other (thought out) people would.
streekgeekParticipantOooh YAY!!!!!!!
Now I have what to write about when I’m bored next english class…
But I’m outta the loop of jokes and stuff so, I think I’ll stick to serials and making people laugh…
Shopping – Nooooooo!! I mean. please “stick to your serial and making people laugh”, but also write about the old timers and our old jokes and post it right here 😉 C’mon, take us on a trip down memory lane. Looking forward 😛
streekgeekParticipantThanks SIDI (why does a guy know more about this stuff than me?!) and kapusta! And have no fear, I’ll be back if (when?) I have questions.
streekgeekParticipantLG – I was a teen until recently. And anyways see HERE.
streekgeekParticipantLG – That’s great…make sure to tell him so when you find out who he is 😀
Shopping – Feel the same way…I guess I was just out of it for too long. There’s only one way to do it and that is to jump right back in 🙂 Looks like I’ll be doing that sometime soon… 😉
streekgeekParticipantGamanit – streekgeek- you remove the skin from the chicken, put it in a baking tin. Peel and slice an onion and add that to the tin. Peel a potato, and cut into small pieces and throw it in too. Spice, cover with aluminum foil and bake on 350 until it smells and looks ready- usually an hour.
What spices? I seriously need help with this kind of stuff….
streekgeekParticipantThere was one specific poster here a few months ago who claimed she didn’t have effective communication skills IRL and here she was one of the most expressive people. She claimed that online there is less formality and unspoken rules so she is uninhibited in expressing herself.
streekgeekParticipantBenadryl. Has the same ingredients as a good old fashioned sleeping pill. Not too healthy though, and quite addictive. Been there done that.
streekgeekParticipantYes
Yes (I never told him, he came on here while we were engaged and found me in 10 minutes flat ;))
Sometimes
No
Yes, only once or twice
streekgeekParticipantShopping –
Enough about old boring me
Please don’t refer to yourself that way, it hurts me 😉 You’re anything but old and boring…But yeh B”H things are going well. Of course, like anything new, marriage is an adjustment, but boy is it worth the time and efforts you invest in it. IY”H by you at the right time to the right one (it’s not too early to daven for your zivug btw, it never is. Daven that he’s doing well, that he’s strong in his yiras Shamayim and that he should stay in the derech hasyashar…)
Hope to be around here more now that things are finally settling in to routine.
streekgeekParticipantLG – Yup, I’m an old married lady. Why in the world would you think otherwise??
streekgeekParticipantstreekgeekParticipantcozimjewish – Shhhhh….don’t tell me that! Me and all my sisters has loved it since we were kids. I’m not going to listen to such things from you…
streekgeekParticipantI once bought a Snapple drink and was reading the interesting fact located under the lid ….it read “a goldfish’s attention span is 3 seconds”.
And an average person’s attention spans is one second less than that of a goldfish. Serious. Go google it. All thanks to social media….
streekgeekParticipantYes, they exist. I’m married to one.
So am I 😀
streekgeekParticipantWas at a wedding years ago where the musician played at the request of the Kallah (I kid you not) the Teshuva song from Middos Machine (a most beautiful melody, btw)
I always wanted to walk down to the “kipah kipah” song from R Kunda’s The Magic Yarmulka but it just wouldn’t happen… 😉 I still love that song though!
streekgeekParticipantHi people!!
I’m still here (well, sort of that is…) If you would take a look at my threads from 3-4 months ago you’d see why I’m not here as much as I used to though I wish I was. I miss the fun around here. And I hope to get to know you guys better once things calm down here and there’s a routine going again…
TAOM hasn’t been here in ages. OURtorah has poked her head in once or twice. I really miss them both and the camaraderie we had going here.
How you doing Shopping? I think about you all the time btw…haven’t spoken to u in a while. Your serial is awesome! I have been lurking a whole lot more than I’ve been posting, so I have been following it and I’m loving it! Keep going strong!!
streekgeekParticipantcozimjewish –
URL is short for Universal Resource Locator. In other words, it’s the link that’s in the address bar in your browser. Welcome to the CR btw…enjoy your stay!!
Randomex –
oomis [oomis1105] – http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/profile/oomis1105
I remember coming across Little Froggie’s profile page once but I forgot which username of his it was under…maybe he can help.
streekgeekParticipantYou forgot ME!!! I’m pretty old…2 and 1/2 years…
SHopping – Not in your wildest dreams, I don’t think there is any way I can forget you…We have too much of a history. You just weren’t included in my list cuz I’ve seen your name around here recently. The posters I listed were ones I haven’t see in a while…
streekgeekParticipantI’m pretty old (or so my kids think).
oomis – Biologically you may be old, but you can’t fool us! You’re as young as the rest of us here 🙂
streekgeekParticipantand Me!!
(whoops, I think they only want GOOD old timers)
LF – If you would get paid for every time you put yourself down, you’d be able to devote your whole life to the CR cuz you’d have no need for a job. You’re not just a GOOD old timer, you’re an AWESOME one!
streekgeekParticipant2)Do the reasons why in the past women were not supposed to learn still apply nowadays.
Which reasons are you referring to?
The reason why they should is to know the halachos.
The halachos are the same now as they were then, nothing changed there. We are learning the pertinent halachos the same way it was learnt back then, baal peh (or for some topics, using a kitzur). Why the need for change just because the times changed?
streekgeekParticipantWhat exactly in today’s reality dictates that women should be learning? What has changed since the original BY that would obligate girls to learn?
There is no reason why they shouldn’t but on the other hand, there is no reason why they should.
streekgeekParticipantAha, thanks for taking the time to explain that (you know you’re good at explaining, right?). Could you imagine, I would’ve never thought so deeply about your existence if not for this thread.
On a side note, I see that some still haven’t gotten my name straight…I guess that’s a sign that I’m not an authentic old timer yet.
streekgeekParticipantI’m talking about the break you took from the CR. Your first post in years was on the “Continuation of Discussion on R’ Slifkin and Weiss from Manchester Eiruv Thread”. That was 6 months ago. The last time you posted before then was roughly 3 years ago. So you haven’t been here for 21/2 years.
Unless you have more than one screen name…
streekgeekParticipantOh please. That is not a comparison.
I don’t know if they taught history back in Sara Schenirer’s days, but if they did or didn’t doesn’t make a difference. It’s taught out of necessity, no other reason, so yes recent history is taught too.
If someone would prove it necessary to teach gemara in girls schools I don’t see why anyone would make a fuss.
streekgeekParticipantPAA – lol, didn’t think to even check if I was being accurate. Where were you already for 21/2 years?!
streekgeekParticipantThis whole thread can be summed up in one word:
Toad-che`
LF – this definitely goes up there on your list of Top10 🙂
streekgeekParticipantThey’re just voices? What are their names?
Not sure. I sometimes question my sanity. Occasionally it replies.
streekgeekParticipantI don’t think there is an objection in general, it depends which society you’re referring to. There are many schools where both the girls and boys learn gemara in depth, no objection there. As for the BY schools, I don’t think there is an objection per se, its just the way things have been done since the first BY school was formed.
streekgeekParticipantDaMoshe – It’s a good thing you didn’t look at my profile cuz I’m definitely not an old timer either according to your definition. There are plenty of real old timers that I unfortunately never got the chance to know. I was just listing some posters that I know from my first months here that don’t post anymore.
On the same topic, its almost time for my birthday bash. Just put some champagne in the fridge… All is invited.
Syag – While I don’t post as much as I read nowadays, (I’m a real lurker) I miss your input!
streekgeekParticipantlol Goq, funny your comment went up only after Syag’s even though you posted first…
streekgeekParticipantIn my opinion, just like locks are there to keep honest people honest, same with a filter. If you want to get around it, you can. If there’s a will there’s a way, no matter how strong the filter
While having WebChaver does give you a reason to stop and think before clicking, if you choose someone you are not necessarily embarrassed of falling before, it won’t work. Just something to keep in mind.
streekgeekParticipantYou know me better than that Syag. I am in no way putting down the “here and now” posters.
If anything I think if I’d spend more time here like I did back then I would have plenty of new friends that I wouldn’t have time to miss the old timers 😉
To be or not to be, Rebyidd, PAA and plenty others that I don’t know by name yet are making this place wonderful!! I’m considering coming back full time as soon as things calm down in a few more weeks.
Come to think of it Syag, you’re rarely seen around these parts of town recently. What gives?
streekgeekParticipantOne could say it, except it would be in regards to the minds of men. I can’t get over how differently they think.
streekgeekParticipantHowever, since there seems to be some sort of stigma (whether real or artificial) how can we protect or glamorize getting married younger in order to lessen the issue
Can someone explain this stigma to me? Don’t most boys want to get married? Is the stigma coming because of what their fellow yeshiva mates will think, or because barely anyone in our society would take a 20 yr old boy seriously?
August 18, 2014 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm in reply to: If You Had Access to the CR Administration… #1029093streekgeekParticipantThanks 29!
Now your job is to approve all my posts so I can live up to my subtitle 😉
streekgeekParticipantTo be or not to be – Do you really think that boys getting married younger is a better approach? Some, if not all, lack the human decency that is expected in dating etiquette, as well as lack of life experience that inevitably comes with age.
And if you don’t mind my asking, is your wife older than you or younger?
August 15, 2014 3:21 pm at 3:21 pm in reply to: If You Had Access to the CR Administration… #1029081streekgeekParticipantI’d reread through all my deleted posts. That way I can learn from my mistakes 🙂
BTW mods, I haven’t gotten any posts deleted in months! Can I officially be called a model poster finally?
Consider it so – 29
