Joseph,
Do you also know that your parallel is fallacious?
October 21, 2009 8:12 pm at 8:12 pm in reply to: Working Mothers – How Do You Find the Strength? #663356squeakParticipantmepal, I don’t expect you to be familiar with Menachos 95a or the halachos that are learned from it, which is why I did not pose the question to you. I asked Joseph.
squeakParticipantWolf,
Joseph is being consistent. He feels that one who eats pork can still be a spokesperson against Chillul Shabbos.
squeakParticipantJoseph,
There is no such place as Lita.
Were you ever at a wedding in Lithuania? There’s not much resemblance between weddings there and then and weddings here and now.
October 21, 2009 8:03 pm at 8:03 pm in reply to: Learning in Eretz Yisroel Before High School Diploma #663204squeakParticipantI see two questions here.
October 21, 2009 8:02 pm at 8:02 pm in reply to: Working Mothers – How Do You Find the Strength? #663352squeakParticipantJoseph, what about someone whose only daily Torah is saying Krias Shema in the morning and evening?
squeakParticipantIf I may elaborate by using a famous quote,
The more you tighten your grip, the more systems will slip through your fingers.
squeakParticipantneatfreak, I think you have confused the cause for the effect.
squeakParticipantGlad to help 🙂
Let me know if you’re going to need those ICBMs after all, OK?
squeakParticipantI bet you are, Joseph. I bet you are.
squeakParticipantOne on one? Nah, I want to meet the whole gang.
squeakParticipant‘Twas no mistake
squeakParticipantBTW, Joseph, how was lunch today with the other fellows?
squeakParticipantSame as everyone else on the block
squeakParticipantYeah, Jax. No way anyone could make that mistake.

squeakParticipantGood. Then you must be a CEO or something.
squeakParticipantNo problem. It 26 Berditchiv Lane.
squeakParticipantCaricaturization
The process of conveying exaggerated information about characters in narative or dramatic works, while oversimplifying other information about the character.
squeakParticipantJoseph, in that case we’re on. Just honk when you’re outside.
mepal – I never took you for a crackberry addict.
squeakParticipantNerd-person
The voice someone uses when explaining something technical or generally nerdy.
squeakParticipantJoseph, then how will I get there?
squeakParticipantareivim, just show up. You still have more than 5 hours to get a ride.
squeakParticipantmepal, feel free to invite google to dinner too, but my best guess is that you’ll still need me to translate.
squeakParticipantIt’s kosher under the OU, same as KD I believe. I can translate the menu for you.
squeakParticipantkapusta, I don’t know of a meter feeding gemach, but I do know of a ticket writing gemach in the 5 towns. These baalei chesed volunteer to write tickets in the shopping areas on their own time just in case the po-po might miss a few without their help.
squeakParticipantmepal, understood. I was just saying that you have to wait for Joseph’s haskama.
squeakParticipantI think there is a Hispanic man who works in a Jewish grocery store somewhere in the Tri-state area who can answer all your questions about cleaning tzitzis.

a space between two of the coins. That space is twice the decimal of PI (multiplied by a constant).
Wouldn’t it also be 100 times the decimal of PI, multiplied by a different constant?
squeakParticipantDon’t tell me – tell Joseph. He’s footing the bill.
squeakParticipantHow about Tierra Sur.
6 pm, reservations are for two currently. Let me know if others are coming. Bow ties are not mandatory, you’ll probably know who I am anyway.
squeakParticipantI’m offended that you wouldn’t choose a higher class venue than that for meeting me.

How many people do you know with single daughters over age 25? There’s at least one in every family, and on every block.
Weren’t you supposed to be the “facts and figures” sidekick?
Your comment is so ridiculous that even your supporters should have reason to doubt the veracity of your statistical claims.
squeakParticipantgood one, mepal
squeakParticipantYes, mepal, we all remember your particular quirk. But not all of us are yekkes, so following your example might have bad repurcussions.
squeakParticipantand there I was thinking it had to do with meatballs. Go figure.
October 20, 2009 1:58 am at 1:58 am in reply to: What Food Item Would You Like To See Get A Hecsher? #895408squeakParticipantIn case nobody mentioned this yet, Red Bull is now approved by the CRC on their website. However, not the shots.
squeakParticipantThe “Day of Atonement Dance” is a sad event that goes on in many places. It probably stems from the well-known minhag during the times of the Beis Hamikdash, when unmarried girls would go out into the fields and dance after the seir ha’azazel was sacrificed, and shidduchim would come of it. If this is true, it is of course a most vile perversion of a sacred event.
squeakParticipantThis thread reminds me of a closing line from the famous Oscar Wilde play, The Importance of Speaking Yiddish.
“My nephew, you seem to be displaying signs of triviality.”
“On the contrary,” he replies, “I’ve now realized for the first time in my life the vital Importance of Speaking Yiddish.”
squeakParticipantPY, thanks for a fun read!
squeakParticipantAZ – Neither hiding our heads in the sound, nor overshouting our opponents, will make it go away.
squeakParticipantAbsolutely true. A Shadchan is not a skilled laborer. Rather, an individual with with talent. Talent doesn’t get paid for effort. Just look at the thousands of “starvingartists” or “starvingwriters” waiting to get their big break. The violinist doesn’t make money unless he gets a gig and performs. The Shadchan is comparable to a violinist, not to a lawyer.
squeakParticipantWhat? I kind of like the sound of “mepla” better. Goes well with spaghetti,

I’m not yeshivish, but I could play one on TV,
I’m not sure what TV is (and the wikipedia definition sounds too technical for me), but have you considered that perhaps other people here share your acting abilities, and play one on a blog?
squeakParticipantIt seems to me that in the last week or so many old topics are being rehashed, with all the old arguments crawling out of the woodworks. Is there some religious custom I’m unaware of that requires the revival of old fights at a certain point in time each year?
I think my own family custom is that it’s good enough to read through the old comments, unless there is something new to bring to the table. Unless it’s a scotch, in which case you can bring it to the table old.
squeakParticipantJax – denial is just the name of a river in Africa, to me.
squeakParticipantMost sock puppets are gender neutral. Will there also be a gender neutral thread/forum?
that is option 4. the other options are regarding uniform knee sock puppets discussing current events in the athletic sock puppet thread
squeakParticipantICOT – you are correct. The kosher maple syrup is made without using lard. Though I don’t know what the havve amina was. I didn’t realize that smith was talking about kosher maple syrup.
squeakParticipantJax – which one was for you???
squeakParticipantsmith – lard, not bacon.
