Not a mouse story, but for my first doctorate I was researching the physiological effect on the cerebrum of cognitive behavioral conditioning, and I used a rat. His name was Fluffy because he was Siamese. After learning to run through the maze in response to specific stimuli, I repeatedly employed those stimuli in succession causing him to run endlessly and brought his heart rate up to 2000 beats per minute. After 4 minutes, he expired and I observed that his brain was the size of a walnut. Then I suspended him by his tail from a light fixture in the womens bathroom.

Mods close down this thread or I’ll report it to the gedoilim.

This specific threat seems to be the way to get results around here. Full disclosure, I plan to copy and paste this threat in every thread (except the popa classics).

lol that was a mistake, but the thread has been reopened.

Theres a reason why a kiddush is meant to be just herring kichel and slivovitz. Keeps away freeloading women. If you serve salad at a kiddush and have pretty cakes as centerpieces youve dug your own grave.

The comparison to bald people is silly, since bald is purely a physical characteristic and not a culture; any commonalities are coincidental. Just like people of any culture can be 6 feet tall.

On the other hand, behaviors can be attributed to cultural background, and that does sometimes mean that people belonging to a certain race or ethnicity can be expected to behave in a certain way. For example, Asians are usually close talkers.

Understanding cultural differences and learning to accept traits in others that are unlike your own is embracing diversity. Attributing random (negative) behaviors as being part of the cultural makeup of a certain race or ethnicity and then expecting to find those behaviors in others from that group is racism.

Aw thanks. But chalk it up as a missed opportunity. When your grand/kids come home with a 137% on every chumash, spelling, and math test, think of what could have been.

And also realize that they probably got one of the lowest marks in the class.

Apparently, this idea was taken very seriously by Washington, because soon after I forwarded a link to this thread to my Senators they raced to an agreement to end the shutdown.

I guess they don’t like the idea of teachers taking over even their “non-essential jobs”. I should have done this sooner.

Considering that experimental drugs, by the time they approved for human trials in the US, have already been tested on animals and/or people of the third world, I wouldn’t worry much about safety. But if your best source of medical advice is me here in the cr, you should probably pass.

    Torah-

I appreciate your responses. And you make a good point about trolling, so let me try to clean up. I was not actually comparing Chassidus to Christianity, though people such as rebdoniel and Chaim Potok might, but rather saying that the assertion is based on what we wish to believe rather than what we have been taught as Truth.

As far as your point about tolerating sinners, well that’s just it. We are told Hashem tolerates, not loves. Kel erech apayim, and a hundred other well-known quotes, spell this out.

    fkelly-

You are mistaken about popa’s viewpoint. See here

    “Just as Hashem does”

Am I mistaken or is that an entirely Christian dogma? I know we are commanded to love Hashem, but where does it say that Hashem loves all His children unconditionally? I know where it says Hashem loves klal yisroel, and I know where it says Hashem tolerates and awaits a sinner’s pennance, but loving the sinner equally to the tzaddik? Voo shteit

In the times of the gemara, people did not necesarily ever sleep in the same hut as their wives. A separate tent for wife or for each wife. Sleeping in the succah changed nothing.

In the times of the gemara there wasnt much difference between a house and a succah. Or in house vs succah matresses 🙂

Moving to bonds is the wrong move for your prediction.

Making a prediction about where the market is headed and where interest rates are headed is also a wrong move.

You should get a financial advisor to guide you or to direct your investments.

Both sides are disingenuous. The chilonim wouldn’t allow the chareidim to live in peace even if they kept entirely to themselves, but the chareidim wouldn’t be satisfied to be left alone in their own ghettos either. They (chareidim) want access to societal benefits without particiating in that society. And they (chilonim) are desperate for approval and can’t stand the reminder of their failings as Jews.
