the large number by itself is not an issue – the real issue is how they spend it, and what do they keep in the bank. there are so many large non-profits with tens of millions of dollars in cash reserves. and when i ask what is it for, the usual reply i get is “it’s for a rainy day.” so, all during covid they are raising funds and i say to them it is raining, use your cash that you have, and well, they don’t agree, etc. sad.

July 11, 2022 12:37 am at 12:37 am in reply to: Inefficient and Sketchy Non Profits / Tzedaka organizations #2104999soosimParticipantin general, small is good — in my 25+ years of researching non-profits in the states and in israel, 90% of those that get my approval have annual budgets of under $1,000,000 (4,000,000nis) a year. most have much much less. it seems that the larger an operation grows, the less efficient it becomes.
