when I said shwarma, falafel, I meant to emphasize that anything about Eretz Yisroel is allowed areivimzelazeh
Some guyMemberi’m in the cr
Some guyMemberpeople are saying “look how far we’ve gone, we’re so sophisticated, we were oppressing black people and now we are electing them as president,” seriously, there is something called “gone too far”
PS: hope this isn’t off topic
Some guyMemberin general, settlements, palestinian problem, elections, economy, schwarma (there you go cantoresq), falafel, and anything that anyone who wants to post here can think of about Eretz Yisroel
Some guyMemberA guy got a new Lamborghini and put a mezuzah in it. He went to an Orthodox rabbi to ask if the rabbi could bless the mezuzah. The rabbi denied saying that he wouldn’t make a bracha for such an extravagancy. He went to a Conservative rabbi, but the rabbi denied, saying he wouldn’t bless a goy car. He went to a Reform rabbi. The rabbi said: “Sure I’ll bless it, but whats a mezuzah?”
Some guyMemberJoseph, please remind me, what language did Hashem create the world with? And for your argument Yiddish is holy because it is the common language… Of COURSE it is the common language! Jews living in Ashkenaz for centuries and you think that they will not pick up some goyishe language? That had been good for them then, but now?! Some things need to evolve when Jews travel to different places and come into different periods. And I am not saying that Jews need to be “modernized” like the haskalah, but rather I am saying that the time when Jews spoke different languages (i.e. Ladino, Yiddish) is totally gone.
Now is the time that Hashem is gathering Jews to put them in Eretz Yisroel for the Jews to be united, and what is more fitting to speak in Eretz Yisroel, eretz hakodesh, than loshon hakodesh instead of loshon hakodesh/german/old polish/slavic. And don’t forget that everyone will call their own language holy. Sefardim; Ladino is holy. Ashkenazim: Yiddish is holy. Persian Jews: Dzhidi is holy. Turksih Jews: Krymchak is holy. And that is just a few examples.
Hashem has given Jews Eretz Yisroel, and He gave them Eretz Yisroel for them not to be in golus anymore, and to change the ways that they picked up from the goy nations. And not to speak loshon hakodesh mixed in with the language of nochrim in the place where pure loshon hakodesh is in the history of the land is a perfect example.
Some guyMemberI’ve got a good joke.
An American Jew goes to a kosher restaurant in the UK. He is being served by a Chinese waiter, who spoke to him in perfect Yiddish, offering him his menu. After the meal the American Jew turns to leave and sees the manager smiling at him, asking, “Did you like the meal?” The American Jew says: ‘Thanks, I really enjoyed it. And by the way I was really surprised at your Yiddish-speaking waiter.” The manager replied “Oh that’s nothing. He thinks he is speaking English.”
Some guyMemberYiddish is a golus language face it. Loshon HaKodesh mixed with goyishe languages. Hebrew, whether sefardi pronunciation or ashkenazi, is loshon hakodesh. remind me, what language did Hashem create the world with? Yiddish? Of course not! Hebrew.
