I just can’t… I am stressed and stuff… and hopefully since it is shabbos on friday night, and i will have my own room to sleep in this shabbos, and I know the people i am going to be staying by end their meal early, I can go to sleep earlier than usual.

cold drugs are expensive, and I don’t have any, plus, i don’t have a cold, so I don’t want to abuse cold medication, I took a forth of my usual dose of adhd medication and I am still wide awake, that dose was supposed to last me two and a half hours!

i know, but i can’t seem to fall asleep either…

in reply to: Possible Sleeping Disorder? #936293

And it is 1:30 am, and i still am not sleepy… i think i will pull an all nighter again and since i don’t have much going on friday night, i should be able to fall asleep then- heck, I will even get my own room this shabbos, in the nice, quiet area of Kiryat Sefer.

They both probably did. Torah, if you drop down to the higher middle school level math course, you will most likely still be able to take honors math in high school. And on top of that, you get the privilage of still having a childhood for a bit longer.

in reply to: Studying for a Really Hard Course #933390

My younger brother was initially taking high school algebra one in seventh grade, but he had to drop down to higher seventh grade algebra one because he was flunking, and until then, he was in gifted math classes his whole life (although he also has mild learning differences as well- much more mild than mine) and then he ended up taking honors geometry his freshman year.

i understand, but you only belong in those courses at that age if you can get an A or a B in them. Otherwise, why mess up your transcript before entering high school?

UMMMM… Excuse me?!?!? We are fighting many wars at this time.

    1. Our Yetzer Hara

    2. The media war.

    3. For the right to circumcise our sons.

    4. For people to stop drinking so much on Purim.

    5. We had operation piller of defence, and Iran is threatening to seek revenge against Israel because of attacks that Israel might not have even done.

    6. Unfortunately, there is a Civil war in Syria, and the U.S. is considering intervening, meaning that could turn into world war three. Other countries are considering intervening as well.

    If not now, then when?

in reply to: Lying to prevent bankruptcy #931732

true… but i need money to pay for a lawyer… i mean, since then, my back has frequently become very knotty to the point where whenever a friend of mine tries to get rid of the knots, it can take ten minutes to get rid of one knot and it is extremely painful, especially because massages are, in theory, supposed to be relaxing.

in reply to: Lying to prevent bankruptcy #931730

that is why i should not pursue it.

Mod 42- does that mean you would be willing to eat a cockroach?

in reply to: The Bais Yaakov System #932321

it was the same thing at the high school i went to, but they were also rebbitzins, rebbitzins can do whatever career they want provided that it is acceptable within the framework of halacha. They could even be doctors.

in reply to: Why Do Girls Have to Cover Their Legs? #952052

What if I lived in memphis tennessee, and nobody else covered their legs, if I moved there, would i be able to wear flip flops and ankle length leggings?

in reply to: Why Do Girls Have to Cover Their Legs? #952050

So then why don’t bais yaakov girls just wear flip flops and ankle length leggings?

in reply to: The Starving Thread #931968

i had to miss part of play practice in order to be able to eat, then i got called back after ten minutes and i only got to eat a slice of bread (i had to go to the bathroom…), i have a heter to eat normally on minor fast days.

in reply to: The Bais Yaakov System #932319

That is why i said the majority. At the bais yaakov I went to, many of the secular studies teachers were rebbitzins.

in reply to: Is the Problem Really Purim? #932055

i got a whole lecture during class yesterday about it- I don’t plan on drinking more than a glass of wine if possible- but unlikely. However, the thing that really bothers me is that instead of my cousin going to new orleans for his 21st birthday, he came to israel and his parents packed beer in their suitcases.

I heard succos to pesach from a bunch of my friends. i know people who do that…

shnitzy- I took an iq test in eighth grade and got 124. I nearly skipped kindergarten, but didnt end up doing that because I still had the kindergarten maturity level. I am not saying that to brag, because unfortunately, i am also a bit learning disabled, but if I was more organized in real life and had a better attention span, i could have done much better in school to the point where i would have been able to take APs in high school.

in reply to: Benefiting from Stolen Property #931715

I would say it is completely assur.

Sbarro in Malcha!!! i hope everyone has an easy fast, i broke mine in the old city with my cousins.

in reply to: Why Do Girls Have to Cover Their Legs? #952045

I think it is actually a chumra. Obviously, I was required to cover my legs when i was at the bais yaakov i went to, so i started doing it outside of school as well. As long as the whole leg is covered, either by your skirt being long and wearing knee highs, or by leggings and socks, or tights, you are following the minhag.

The denier concept is Super chumra, and the people that wear black tights/ socks from succos to pesach are taking their chumras to a whole different level that i respect, but feel is completely unneccesary.

i need more evidence. Plus, i don’t have enough money for a lawyer.

in reply to: Possible Sleeping Disorder? #936292

Nine and a half years of insomnia is a looooong time. I want to have kids one day and a three year old cannot walk herself to gan.

Also, sleep studies are very expensive, that is why I have never been able to have one.

    What makes TAG a BY?

That is like asking what makes Bais Yaakov of Boro Park, Bais Yaakov of LA, Bais Yaakov of Minneapolis, a bais yaakov.

The common denominators throughout the bais yaakov system are their rule books and their ideal end products. Uniform, no talking to boys, tznius, good middos, and being taught the majority of your school subjects by Rabbis and rebbitzins.

in reply to: The Bais Yaakov System #932311

I never meant that having an iphone makes someone not bais yaakov, I had an android and I consider myself a bais yaakov girl. I know that you are allowed to wear color. I mostly do because even though I prefer black; 1. I am in a very modern seminary 2. Tznius clothes are very expensive and I already have clothes, but when I was starting to wear skirts, my mom would not really let me buy any black clothes, so I had to get colorful stuff (I am not saying that its assur to wear stuff from tj maxx and stuff like that, but the clothes that come there that I bought were the things that fall apart more easily because my mom thought I was going through a phase, so she didn’t want so spend so much money on clothes (plus I was having weight issues…). 3. $50 on skirts are expensive and gemachs don’t typically have the skirts that everyone likes to wear. 4. I have other expenses.

I feel like there isn’t one clear cut definition of what makes someone a bais yaakov girl.

In terms of rules about the internet, I don’t feel that I would have been able to give up the internet at that time.

yes, she was a chiropractor. There were a few random people coming in, but during my lunch break, I was told that I had to go to the break room and close the door… it was really weird.

Plus, as someone who needs to wear orthopedic inserts, and have gotten them before from chiropracters, I wanted to replace the ones that I wore for over four years because they were completely destroyed, and she said she did not have the equipment to fit me for some. She said she would refer me to a podiatrist, but she never did.

ok, Thanks! Also, I don’t think this is an issue I need to go to a neurologist for. I fell asleep at 3 am and ended up sleeping in until 2 pm (I think that nobody woke me up because they figured I was fasting, even though I have a heter to eat on fast days).

in reply to: Studying for a Really Hard Course #933377

if you want a parnossah in the future as an adult, you need to pass high school geometry.

in reply to: Sources for Ta'anis Esther #931734

On a more elementary level, Esther HaMalka and the rest of Bnei Yisrael fasted for three days before Esther approached Achashverosh and Haman about the feast… since we can’t handle three days of fasting (we are on a significantly lower madreiga than Bnei Yisrael was at at that time), we only fast for one day.

I fell asleep for an hour tonight, from 7 – 8 pm, then someone woke me up because i was missing the chavrusa part (i feel like a bochur right now for saying that) of the day, but i said that i needed to sleep… It was kinda awkward. And now, I can’t fall asleep…

in reply to: Can you suggest a good baby monitor? #931660

I would ask your friends… perhaps they would know. I don’t have children, but I would think at the very least that the video would be a cute, non-invasive way to take a picture of your baby when he is sleeping and you could possibly use flash.

in reply to: Mishloach Manos #931370

Thats amazing! I wish I could give to more people, but I have so many friends, and I might not even be able to see them all on Purim. Before I lost my treif phone at an inter-seminary choir competition, I had over 200 contacts in it- that would be a lot of people to give mishloach manos to!

I was the only employee there most of the time I worked there besides the doctor and her husband. I never saw her medical license displayed anywhere- or at least a copy of it. Her website was a bunch of lies based on what I know. Since I was a door to door solicitor, I had to answer tons of questions about the doctor that I never got answers to when I asked for them. She “adjusted” me one time, and it made me feel more pain verses when I was younger I saw a more experienced doctor in that profession and he was amazing at adjusting me.

And there are frum women who go to Curves wearing their work clothes, which are really nice, lift weights in those clothes, and swap their work shoes for tennis shoes. I hate to say it, but with the rise in prominence of technology, people feel so much more free to do what ever they want whether it is in their online persona, or in real life.

In terms of plans for next year not working out, I just found out today “we are waiting for the other girls to make their decisions, that does not mean that you won’t have a job…” Honestly, I feel like that means it might not even work out (not sure what my opinion on that is at the moment).

in reply to: Possible Sleeping Disorder? #936280

haha… I am just stressed because I need a breather right now, and I want to go to the shuk because I want to go to a different store and get fresh sunflower seeds (I ended up buying stale ones yesterday by accident), but I have to wait a bit before leaving.

Perhaps that is an ice breaker for them to get to know you better to see if it is a good shidduch.

in reply to: The Bais Yaakov System #932307

TAG is for sure a Bais Yaakov, but I know girls who went there that were not so BY, one girl I know went because they had really good teachers, but she has an iphone and stuff like that, she also did not cover her legs all the time.

I have a close friend who went there for a year and then switched to SKA because even though the school is her family’s hashkafa, it was not exactly hers and she needed to be in a warmer environment, Baruch Hashem, she loves SKA, but I still consider her a bais yaakov girl.

If it was not for their rules about the internet and wearing color, i could see myself having gone there as a student last year.

Do they require you to get a kosher phone? I need to know so that i am prepared to pay for what ever phone i need to get for the school, I would prefer to use orange next year as my carrier because talk and save is very expensive.

in reply to: Possible Sleeping Disorder? #936274

that sounds like a good idea to try implementing. Might save me some money as well.
