March 13, 2013 7:34 pm at 7:34 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936490snowbunny3318Memberi just spoke to his daughter about it… she said she would handle the situation because my response was an in-the moment stupid decision to make and thank G-d I utilized a third party.
By the way, his daughter is the one with my e-mail, meaning he would have been giving me that person’s e-mail, and I could have theoretically done a background check on the e-mail…

March 13, 2013 5:49 pm at 5:49 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936468snowbunny3318MemberI had a car in my hometown, but I don’t have access to it anymore…
March 13, 2013 5:19 pm at 5:19 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936466snowbunny3318MemberI know that they are more modern, and yeah, I never thought I would be able to live there. Although I do have some chareidi friends that live in the five towns…
snowbunny3318MemberFor those of you who are wondering, they require you to get a kosher phone, but they are really accommodating, I was told that I am allowed to bring my computer there for classes, I also found out today that there is a chance that Chedvas would be able to work out an agreement with Touro in Israel, so that you can get financial aid to go there either through fafsa or through the Israeli government…
There are so many things going on at the moment that it is a bit insane…
March 13, 2013 4:11 pm at 4:11 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936464snowbunny3318MemberOk, I would not mind going to queens college either. At the moment, the only thing I am interested in majoring in is creative writing… and maybe minor in some sort of teaching foundations so that I can teach writing enrichment type of classes. I have a ton of friends in woodmere, and some friends who live in manhattan, I have friends who… now that I think about it, I have friends that live all over New York…
Also, I need, for my own sake, to take classes in person, so online would not be so beneficial. When I was growing up, I was always told that I would end up at a community college, and then after starting to keep shabbos, I thought I would end up in a Jewish college, but now that I am old enough to understand my financial situation, I have realized that the only way to end up in a Jewish college is if I make aliyah…
There are a lot of factors that will end up playing into the decision that I end up making. I know that community college is cheaper if you live in district, but at the same time, in my district, which is not chicago, it is impossible to go anywhere without a car, and I would have to walk five miles to get to the nearest bus stop, and that bus would not take me anywhere near the local community college in my home town.
March 13, 2013 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936462snowbunny3318Memberi know, so if I work for a year in new york and then start taking classes, its not the end of the world either…
snowbunny3318MemberI know, but some people get angry about that…
March 13, 2013 3:17 pm at 3:17 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936458snowbunny3318Memberi was thinking of going to brooklyn college part time, but work full time (so I would end up taking night classes, like one or two classes a semester and even summer school so that I would at least be able to work towards a degree…)
Also, there are many logistical issues with me going to college in my home town such as not having a car to drive or access to public transportation.
snowbunny3318Memberyep…
March 13, 2013 2:41 pm at 2:41 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936456snowbunny3318MemberI would love to go to college, the only problem is that I can’t afford to do that. I have so many potential options open for next year, there is new york, if I raise enough money, I can go to chedvas, I could stay in my home town and do nothing other than cleaning my house and telecommute for work online. I don’t know what I am leaning towards at the moment.
If I make aliyah, then I can get my Bachelors for free, but then I would have to pay the rest of my living expenses, the aliyah benefits only last for so long.
Things are a bit more complicated for me because I also have learning differences, and money issues and a complicated situation.
I know pretty much nothing about the tri- state area. I would have to earn that money. Most of my tri-state connections are in New York…

March 13, 2013 2:07 am at 2:07 am in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936436snowbunny3318Membernanny, since you are not going to be able to post the contact information of anyone, maybe if i knew the gematria of the person’s last name, i could look it up in a community directory when i get to new york…

March 13, 2013 12:49 am at 12:49 am in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936432snowbunny3318Memberits for after pesach… I am stuck cutting my year in seminary short because it ended up completely flopping.
March 13, 2013 12:40 am at 12:40 am in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936430snowbunny3318MemberGot it, I was considering that as an option as well. My budget for monthly rentals is self imposed at $400 there are probably people who are looking for roommates who only need that much for rental of the apartment, but also then I would have to provide my own food. I don’t keep Chalav Yisrael in the states, so that makes things a bit cheaper…
snowbunny3318Memberyes.
snowbunny3318MemberNow it is 2:30 am and I haven’t fallen asleep yet…
snowbunny3318MemberI call that someone tries to enter Wrigley Field and give the Billy Goat Bracha.
March 12, 2013 7:48 pm at 7:48 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936427snowbunny3318MemberI already knew that, but I am assuming that I would also end up making more money if I work in NY.
March 12, 2013 5:49 pm at 5:49 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936425snowbunny3318MemberI found the possible job through parnassah network. Also, I understand that, however, I have a feeling that I can borrow the security deposit from my mom and pay her back…
March 12, 2013 5:20 pm at 5:20 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936422snowbunny3318MemberSo I just got an e-mail back from someone in flatbush telling me to call them when I get to new york… that means I might have a job…
March 12, 2013 5:11 pm at 5:11 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936421snowbunny3318MemberOk, but I would still need a job. In terms of paying for rent and stuff like that, I am sure I could find friends who need roommates and then be able to contribute to part of the cost of rent…
March 12, 2013 4:47 pm at 4:47 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936419snowbunny3318Memberright… I can’t afford to go to college…
In terms of concrete qualifications, I have experience with microsoft office, I am very good at office related tasks, I have written a number of research papers, but beyond that, not much.
March 12, 2013 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm in reply to: Want to move from out of town community to New York… #936413snowbunny3318MemberI am not home yet… in terms of talents, I am really good at writing, I have had over the course of my high school years, two different marketing summer jobs (telemarketing, and soliciting), my mom taught me how to clean a house like a cleaning lady does, I know how to mow the lawn…
ZD: I know NY is not cheap, but at my age, I would end up having room mates… and also it is not cheap, which is why I would need a job before I would move.
snowbunny3318MemberI hear that substitute teaching can be stressful and not pay a lot, but it can be a place to start.
snowbunny3318Memberhaha… now i get the reference… I honestly have no idea what went on… all I know is that I got paid $9.00 to do the soliciting job…
snowbunny3318MemberI don’t live in an apartment… I never have.
snowbunny3318MemberBut I think that they should perhaps have a one year thing where people tutor secular israelis in Torah subjects, or something like that. Even if only one year, if one year of a sherut leumi type thing that would allow them to still learn/ teach Torah while doing it is all it would take to end this, then I would say that there is no reason not to.
snowbunny3318MemberI suppose you can say that unless someone wants them to visit a place in chutz la’aretz and they are unable to leave.
snowbunny3318MemberI would say that you need to find a career that would make you happy, and fit in with your schedule/ family life. Medical billing does not pay a lot, but I know two people who do it and they say that the companies that they work for did not require them to get a certificate, so they just learned everything on the job. However, since you will probably need to work for more than 20 hours a week to support a family (they only had work four hours a day, and then they had like three other jobs to make ends meet), you might want to consider other careers like being a substitute teacher, secretary at a school, or things like that.
