Obviously we still use siddurim. These PDFs are for times when we don’t have Siddurim on hand.
smartcookieMemberI went to a busy grocery with 3 kids….
August 26, 2011 4:08 pm at 4:08 pm in reply to: Not trying to offend anybody but are you for real?! #802444smartcookieMemberMost posters who have serious inquiries here, don’t necessarily rely on the advice given here.
They just ask for conversation purposes, and to perhaps get some ideas on their situation.
Sometimes, posters want to confirm that their problem is really so serious, or hear from others who are in a similar situation.
smartcookieMemberHappy face- there’s definitely an inyan for a Kallah to be happy when it gets closer to the Chasuna. But during your entire engagement, I guess the happiness should be natural!
3 days prior to my wedding, my grandmother passed away. The Rav told us, that the Kallah should not think about the tragedy, and I shouldnt be sad. On the contrary, I should try extra hard to be happy in these few days before my wedding.
smartcookieMemberAnd if they are talking about you? Why do you care what the Peurto Rican guy says about your hairstyle, tie, or shoes for that matter?
smartcookieMemberAnyone going on a date today in Brooklyn?
G’luck with all this downpour!
smartcookieMember2 delicious and pretty salads:
Romaine lettuce
cherry tomatoes
honey glazed almonds
fresh portabello mushrooms.
Dice it all up and mix. This salad comes with a typical euro salad dressing.
Romaine lettuce
diced pieces of smoked turkey and/or pastrami,
Cherry tomatoes
Some plain slivered almonds(optional)
Mix and pour dressing over salad.(If you want it, I’ll check up recipe for you.)
smartcookieMemberMazel Tov Kylbdnr! May you be Zoche to build a Bayis Ne’eman Byisrael and be happy forever!
smartcookieMemberRunning- thanks for the laugh! (Sorry!)
Many scenarios you posted here do seem normal. Kids do crazy stuff!
It is possible that your kids are wilder than others. I don’t know them so I wouldn’t know. Just keep in mind that they got a special energy and are probably smart kids. They will outgrow it at some point!
(I know, easier said than done.)
smartcookieMemberI would love that! To meet everyone! What an adventure!
smartcookieMemberSome things, are about using common sense.
smartcookieMemberPopa you are so good at lying!
smartcookieMemberMy kids will not be wearing leather shoes.
I read Eicha to myself when my kids are (finally!) asleep.
smartcookieMemberBSD- why don’t you make a deal with them. Tell them you will claim their insurancnce, but you will give them a small part of the money to cover their premiums which will increase.
August 4, 2011 11:38 pm at 11:38 pm in reply to: What was the worst tragedy in your life (that youre willing to speak about) and #828550smartcookieMemberMazal- you don’t HAVE to post here!!!
August 3, 2011 3:51 am at 3:51 am in reply to: mods! when someone calls you a 'dolt' they're calling you an idiot!! #1034624smartcookieMemberSo is Poppa the new Joseph?? 😉
August 3, 2011 3:42 am at 3:42 am in reply to: mods! when someone calls you a 'dolt' they're calling you an idiot!! #1034620smartcookieMemberPopa- funny how they all have the same writing skills mocking others.
smartcookieMemberThousand? My gown cost about $1400 to rent SIX years ago, and that was not considered an expensive gown.
I think it pays. They do alteration for you and take the whole headache off your head. Plus you get a beautiful, well fitted gown and ship it right back after the wedding.
Cshapiro- are you’re sisters really gonna wear your gown IYH or are you just telling it to yourself so you can buy one?
I wouldn’t want to wear my sister’s. I would like my own taste on my wedding day!
smartcookieMemberWhy don’t you rent something from an upper class rental place? Much simpler and they have gorgeous stuff.
I never heard anyone getting a gown from them torn or stained.
So when you planning the wedding for?
smartcookieMemberI recall an existing thread on this subject but was unable to find it when I did a search.
I’m sure we can get some hilarious stories there if someone can come up with it.
smartcookieMemberHacham- I left them by my siblings. Their kids are my kids cousins!
smartcookieMemberGoq- lol! They actually loved it while I was away. They had a lot of fun staying at their cousins’ homes.
Stamper- I left my 3 kids by family. Why does this make a difference to you may I ask?
smartcookieMemberDid it a coupla times just overnight.
This year though was the first time I actually left the kids behind for over a wk and went on vacation! Was amazing! Gotta do it once a year!
August 1, 2011 4:36 am at 4:36 am in reply to: Do you size people up when meeting them? How often are you proven wrong? #990618smartcookieMemberShlishi- that’s not what I mean. I’m talking about times when I meet a person at first, and then I get to know them better, turns out they are like I first thought them to be.
I guess I just figure out a person’s nature quickly.
August 1, 2011 4:23 am at 4:23 am in reply to: Do you size people up when meeting them? How often are you proven wrong? #990616smartcookieMemberI usually have a person out after speaking with them a few minutes. And I’m quite right most of the time. Just something I like to do, to analyze people.
smartcookieMemberPopa, nobody believes you.
smartcookieMemberNo you’re not 80. He’s a lot more mature than you are 🙁
smartcookieMemberCutie- it’s true about not blowing out candles, because a Neshama is like a candle and you don’t want to blow the “Neshama” out.
Charlie- your post is very misleading. You, can make the Bracha before lighting because you’re a man. Men are mekabel Shabbos at Shekiah, and not when they Tzind Lecht.
However, women are mekabel Shabbos when the say the Bracha. Therefore they must light candles before reciting the Bracha. Once the Bracha is said, it’s Shabbos!
Most people light the candles, put off the match, and then say the Bracha.
July 29, 2011 5:40 pm at 5:40 pm in reply to: What happens after they leave for Shul Friday night. #792214smartcookieMemberThank you Goq. I, as a mother try to keep my boys home because I don’t feel they are safe in shul while my husband is Davening.
They’re still young, so I’m trying to get away with it as long as I can. I don’t know what I will do once they do start going!
smartcookieMemberOr that homeless fella?
smartcookieMemberOr the mice in your cellar?
smartcookieMemberMazel tov! Wonderful news!
I did see a C. Shapiro engaed on Only simchas.com this week, and was wondering if it might be you!!
smartcookieMemberAdorable- you’re not jealous of her Chosson, it’s just that you would also like a real good guy for yourself very soon.
That’s very normal.
smartcookieMemberJaky- Yes, we do.
We get to have our Rebbe’s help and Brachos in any major decision we make.
Our Rav Davens for us and worries for us all the time.
Just going to watch a Tisch, is inspiring for ladies too!
smartcookieMemberIf you’re not Chassidish, you’ll never understand anyway 😉
smartcookieMemberAYC- you beat me to this! I wanted to bring back up this thread. I’m thinking about MII and wondering if she’s ok.
smartcookieMemberTrim- you are totally allergic to women then…
And you agree with 72. Stop speaking to your friends about your wife.
smartcookieMemberDid you try better men’s clothing stores?
smartcookieMemberBlinks- I love that Mary Poppins joke!!!
smartcookieMemberWho is Peacemaker?
smartcookieMemberBOR- why don’t you wear comfortable cotton tzitzis at home, even though they don’t wash well. Wear them only for at home.
smartcookieMemberRegarding Sheitlach, the Chassidim made it simple. Boys side buys Sheitlach, girl’s side pays for shtreimelach!
smartcookieMemberHaleivi- that is a TERRIBLE thing to say. People need sympathy, not Assurance. She KNOWS it’s common and that she’ll have more children.
Please please don’t talk about her future children!
Just tell her how hard it must be, ask her if she’s feeling better. Offer if you can be of any help.
Maybe even buy her a nice book to read while she rests.
It’s not a tragedy, but it isn’t easy.
smartcookieMemberThey were born without brains and cannot think. Very sad. Don’t waste your breath talking about these people.
smartcookieMemberYeah, I did get it!
I guess someone ate the entire bagel and so the hole had to become exposed! The only part left of the bagel…
smartcookieMemberWelcome back Goq! 😉
Why did you feel the need to run away from here and hide?
smartcookieMemberWow! How did you get an email adress to pass here on this site? You must be superman!
smartcookieMemberThe poor child was probably dead nervous and stagefright.
smartcookieMemberI have the most delicious capon recipe:
Saute and onion, a red pepper, small can of mushrooms.
Then add a half container of onion/garlic croutons. Gives a delicious taste. Add some water.
Cook this whole mixture until croutons are soft.
Cool mixture. Add an egg and mix well.
Fill capons.
Place capons tighly into pan. Coat with mixture of mayonnaise and duck sauce/ or apricot jam.
Bake covered for about 2-3 hrs on 400.
Absolutely yum!
smartcookieMemberCuz they make alot of money working here….Best paying job in all of NY.
