My son came home from school today all upset that his cookie from his snack fell on the floor. I asked him if he ate it to which he replied that he left it on the floor.
I told him that next time he must pick it up and put it in a garbage bin.
He replied: “but then it would be baal tashchus!!”
smartcookieMemberMy brother was asked to make a sentence with the word “coal”.
His brainstorm went as follows:
My father learns in coal….
smartcookieMemberThere was one adorable anecdote posted in the nachas magazine last month:
A child went to see his newborn sibling in the hospital’s nursery and when seeing so many babies in their cradles he asked innocently:
Are these babies already born or are they gonna be born still?
smartcookieMemberWhy don’t you split all furniture costs in half? Its the simplest. That’s the way my family works it.
smartcookieMemberThank you very much.
Does anyone know which place offers most? Did anyone compare lately?
smartcookieMemberVitzniz has hall on 18 and 53 in BP. Standard, nice hall. Nothing massive but nice size.
Very average price.
smartcookieMemberYankdownunder:
Would you care to share what an average day means by you foodwise? Like what do all your meals/snacks consist of?
I’m just trying to shift over to a healthy eating lifestyle. Not crazy, but just healthier and lower fat.
smartcookieMemberPOSTER:
That one’s not a joke at all. It’s quite sad!!
But still a good one though…
smartcookieMemberCOAL: you seem to be taking this tragedy very hard as it is very close to your heart.
But you have to be certain that thinking into it will not make matters worse. If it will only make you more upset and traumatised(if you’re like me), then you should really justaccept it as hashems will. My heart feels for you and the rest of their friends and family. A terrible tragedy indeed.
Hamokom yenachem eschem.
smartcookieMemberCoal, they aren’t suffering. They are up in shomayim with hashem and all is good. We are the ones suffering.
The only words of chizuk I have is that moshiach should come and then we will all see our loved ones again. Amen!
smartcookieMemberTake a butternut squash(make sure its very bright orange on the outside).
Peel and cut into small cubes or thin slices.
Bake uncovered until soft. I like to leave it longer until it becomes a little browned.

As far as I always knew, the category of lebo gas bo is much stricter and this category has many more restrictions in hilchos yichud.
Anyway have time to look into a shulchan aruch now and clarify?
January 11, 2010 11:09 pm at 11:09 pm in reply to: Should Boy & Girl Cousins Talk To Each Other? #672393smartcookieMemberJust a guy:
Cousins that are as close as bros and sis are not at all allowed to talk extra.
It really doesn’t matter how close they are. Siblings are allowed and cousins not. That’s the halacha.
And btw, if I’m not mistaken, if 2 people of the opposite gender are especially close then the halacha becomes even more strict. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
smartcookieMemberZeir git! Mir kennen aleh redden veggen em val er farshteit nisht!!
smartcookieMemberPlease! Babies don’t all crawl at 8 months! Some kids never crawl. It is important for the muscles but they all learn it at some point. My daughter started crawling AFTER she started walking!
Some kids only learn it later on and its nothing wrong. As long as they’re developing normally.
smartcookieMemberMOM12: and I’ve unfortunaltely heard of too many tragedies caused by cars running over a child getting off the school bus. You see a bus stop sign- STOP!
smartcookieMemberNo way. That’s what a shadchans work is all about. Any business has to invest without being guaranteed $ back. Just too bad!!
smartcookieMemberSo to all of you: Can we tackle this nonsense together? What do we need to do?
smartcookieMemberThank you everyone for saying what I’m saying for years.
I was in a car service yesterday with a hatzalah behind me. Instead of pulling over, my driver went speeding down the street to let the hatzalah fly right behind him. I didn’t think ill come out alive from that car.
Incident #2. Today my son’s school bus stopped at my home to pick up my son. As he was walking toward the bus, a vehicle behind the bus was honking away….
I mean this honking is so ridiculous. anyone has any idea what we can do about it? Who we need to speak to?
I live in a busy brklyn neighborhood and hear the honking at 1am, at 6am and round the clock. I’m fed up.
Welcome to NY is right!!
smartcookieMemberHELLO99:
Are you sure that shrintze means spring? I’ve never heard of that one and I’m pretty ok with yiddish.

December 24, 2009 3:29 am at 3:29 am in reply to: Blogs and Forums- Do the Pros Outweigh the Cons? #670847smartcookieMemberIt keeps me updated that’s for sure.
I don’t find myself wasting time here. I’m only on when I have a free hand.
Ex.- while eating breakfast I sit and read the YWN. Or while holding my crying baby who just wants me to sit and hold him, or when I’m looking to relax and have nothing else to read… The reasons are endless.
If you are wasting time here, please don’t!
smartcookieMemberWow. This is really interesting.
smartcookieMemberDid the dog still not move from her home? Is it still constantly there?
smartcookieMemberOh how exciting…mine was a couple of months ago!!!
smartcookieMemberYeah, Nameless. Guess they got bored of our company.
Anyway, some of them are probably posting under a different name.
smartcookieMemberSqueeze out a fresh garlic and let drip into ear to cure ear infection.
smartcookieMemberIst timer- I heard about apple cider vinegar for dandruffs. Never tried but its worth to give it a try since you can buy it in your regular grocery.
OOMIS- I find that when I feel a cold coming up, even for the slightest sniffle, I take ESTHER C- helps wonders for my whole family bh!!
smartcookieMemberMouthwash- boy does it hurt, but then it gets numb.
I’ve also heard about applying a warm, wet teabag on the canker.
BTW- start concentrating if you get them after eating specific foods. I have a relative that stopped eating wheat after suffering from crazy canker sores and they stopped coming!
smartcookieMemberOomis- I just have a little feeling that that specific thread shldnt have gone through originally. The whole topic was disrespectful and untrue. Not that posts weren’t nice. The mods still didn’t enlighten us on that one yet though!!
As for other threads, you’re right.
smartcookieMemberWhere did the “Olem Hazeh” go?
I understand you took it off, but I was awaiting a response from Pashita Yid, and I was in the mood of a little argument…
smartcookieMemberI’m here…when I have time.
smartcookieMemberMine doesn’t smell and I use plain old fashioned ajax or cleanser. I use this for all my pots.
smartcookieMemberOMG!
smartcookieMemberWhy not beruchim tiya. Its such a nice bracha.
smartcookieMemberHhhmmmm….guess it will only do for a weekday dessert!
smartcookieMemberSomething Simple:
Take 1/2 cinnamon graham cracker. Place 2 squares choco onto it and on top of the choco, place 1 piece of marshmallow. Cover with the other half of graham cracker.
Bake for few min until the choco and marshmallow melt.
Delicious.
smartcookieMemberYuk…I just ate one…feels like its stuck in my throat…
Help!! You think it’s ever gonna get digested? I feel horrible!!

December 7, 2009 9:15 pm at 9:15 pm in reply to: You Know You’ve Been Spending Too Much Time in The YWN Coffee Room When…. #1119509smartcookieMemberMod- I agree 100%
smartcookieMemberBEMUSED- I was wondering ab out what you suggested, if my child won’t stay hungry. He’s used to eating full meals and all types of food.
But I do try lately to make his food real easy to chew. But he still keeps it in his mouth in a mush.
Funny, because the same foods he eats beautifully one day, he can keep in his mouth the next day for hours.
