Pascha- this is too funny. I just wanted to search for this thread because lately I have so many canker sores. Now I have 3 of them.
Depressed you should never be. But I am definitely rotten! I can’t move my mouth and that puts any person into a bad mood.
I should try to take vitamins.
smartcookieMemberJobless- I also stopped biting my nails but still tear the skin around them.
I’m trying to stop for years. But I can find myself sitting and playing with my fingers for a while before I realize what I’m doing. I don’t always realize as I’m tearing my skin.
How do you keep yourself conscious about it?
smartcookieMemberSure, just put in any junk and unhealthy ingredients, and you have delicious bakery donuts.
smartcookieMemberWell doesn’t the torah state somewhere that the main purpose of marriage is to work on our Middos?
That’s what we learned in school years ago. Someone help me out here please?
smartcookieMemberHow do I know that sukkas is over?
Yesterday my little kid brought a cookie into the bedroom and my wife yelled CHOMETZ!!!!
smartcookieMemberEster C (a form of vitamin C).
You also take it before you catch a cold, when you feel a little shiver and it prevents colds.
People swear by it!
smartcookieMemberSome people, like myself, MUST wear makeup at all times and will not leave their homes without light makeup. That is because our skin is really not so great.
This type of makeup is absolutely not attractive, it just looks very natural and makes me look plain sweet!
If you’re wearing heavy makeup, especially eye makeup, then it is a problem.
smartcookieMemberSaftala- when you do it once or twice a year (on a three day yom tov), its OK.
smartcookieMemberThanks sacrilege- will try that. I usually do it from much closer than arms length.
smartcookieMemberRebdoniel:
Wow wow wow! You are amazing. We should all learn from you and I’m sure that would be a great zchus for you.
However, my heart goes out for you. Is it possible to find some nice man who davens regularly in shomrei shbbs and become his shabbos guest?
At least give us your name so we can Daven for you.
smartcookieMemberSacrilege-
I bought model in a bottle and was very disappointed. I was wondering if you don’t have this problem:
After a few hrs, my makeup wears off, and only the parts of my face that got spritzed from the spray, end up staying with makeup.
I do try to spray all over, but I still end up with blotches of makeup on the next day, and the rest of my makeup is shvitzed away.
smartcookieMemberPascha-
You couldve made things easier and just Davened to Hashem to give you your bashert WHEN YOU ARE MATURE ENOUGH AND READY.
smartcookieMemberThis is too funny. I’ve always heard that biting off the pitum is a Segulah for beautiful children. Pregnant or not.
(Maybe we should all try it this year and we’ll end the Shidduch crisis!! ;-))
smartcookieMemberUshpizen.
Quite entertaining and very kosher.
smartcookieMemberWannabe- I love some of your advice!
September 27, 2010 4:29 pm at 4:29 pm in reply to: Shidduchim: Why is everybody lying and is it ok? #698124smartcookieMemberAbuse in the family usually goes to the kids. I would be VERY SCARED to touch such a family.
Kids who were abused, will USUALLY abuse their own spouse/kids even though they look and act like very fine people from the outside.
smartcookieMemberCharlie- your post about wearing colored shirts on shabbos is disturbing.
All week, you can wear whichever color you like and it’s perfect, Shabbos however, there is something to a white shirt. It’s absolutely more shabbosdig in my opinion.
(Like spreading a white tablecloth on your table Lekovod shbbs.)
smartcookieMemberI rock- not in this glorious weather 🙂
smartcookieMemberFinish the entire Tehillim with gantz Klal Yisroel in mind, then treat yourself to something.
Go to the airport and watch the planes from indoors. I can stand there for a long time.
smartcookieMemberWhere?
In brooklyn, they have blasting music and dancing every night Chol Hamoed in BP on 13th ave, 47th street.
September 26, 2010 6:23 am at 6:23 am in reply to: Shidduchim: Why is everybody lying and is it ok? #698074smartcookieMemberI don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t trust my husband if he would lie to me before. It would ruin the trust in my marriage. Even if he would lie about a minor detail.
Just be honest if you want your spouse to be honest with you.
smartcookieMemberJust continue rocking.
smartcookieMemberBored? Just enjoy the boredom and quiet time while it lasts….
Oh and sleep and sleep and sleep.
Now for an idea- my hub and I used to go brisk walking every night. Very healthy exercise.
I still miss those walks. Now we need major babysitting arrangements if we wanna step out of the house!
Baruch Hashem!
September 22, 2010 6:22 am at 6:22 am in reply to: How to keep kids out of the way before yom tov #698725smartcookieMemberMy little kids love to help. So:
I bought an EMPTY plastic spray bottle and filled it with water! They spray the mirrors and walls and wherever mommy lets and then they wipe it all! Proud!
They also love to fold laundry. And you’ll be surprised how cute they fold everything. I let them sit on the bed and fold whatever they want while I’m busy in the kitchen.
(I redo everything later when they sleep :-))
smartcookieMemberMany chasidim have perfectly arranged marriages. Hi son/daughter, you’re getting engaged tonight to “boy/girl”.
Most Chassidim do not tell their child you’re getting engaged tonight. I’ve heard FEW such cases.
smartcookieMemberOh my, don’t you all start with beshow argument again…
smartcookieMemberBtw the flowers should be flat and big.
smartcookieMemberI saw a beautiful thing. Buy a styrofoam ball(not very small), and buy many nice, big flowers(fake).
With straight pins you pin on the flowers all around until the ball is all covered. Hand from the succah ceiling.
September 21, 2010 5:09 am at 5:09 am in reply to: What Chessed organization would you like to see started? #697614smartcookieMemberHello kitty- why don’t you start such a Gemach? Start small among family and friends, trade toys with them. Then add more and more people.
smartcookieMemberWas wondering the same. I hear many woman do it and it just doesn’t seem right to me.
You’re defeating the purpose of fasting, IMO.
smartcookieMemberWell mosherose, you got a heter from your rav for college and internet. My rav, and many others, allow talking to and swimming with your wife.
smartcookieMemberGood morning!!! Old old issue. The teachers give homework officially to the student. But you all know who ends up having the homework headache…of course the Mommy!
smartcookieMemberIn our shul it went for about $600.
smartcookieMemberBp- why do you think so? Rides is a thrill that only comes around when you’re a child.(usually!)
I have great memories from amusement parks as a child.
smartcookieMemberI shop best in Gap and Old Navy online. And BTW, a typical baby shirt and pants adds up to $20 at most by me. 25 is considered a lot. And no, I’m not a cheapy!
smartcookieMemberI don’t understand. Why does it have to be sad? Sometimes a happy story can be very moving.

September 16, 2010 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm in reply to: the tragic minbus accident and the family's reaction #696164smartcookieMemberAn arab driver can be suspected that he did the accident purposely. Yet, their neighbor whom they’re so close with, they know he didn’t do it on his own will and they wouldn’t even have a slight suspicion on him.
smartcookieMemberLet’s compromise:
You make ground zero into a mosque, and well make some mosques into a ground zero.
smartcookieMemberHealth- I Baruch Hashem stopped biting my nails a couple of years ago.
However, I’m contantly tearing the skin around my nails and they really look ugly. Any ideas for that problem?
smartcookieMemberThen???
smartcookieMemberLol!! My husband went to buy a sandwich in shnitzis now.
They said they actually opened today. It’s their first day!
People are all excited! Traffic is heavy there!
(I think I’m gonna charge them for advertisement!)
smartcookieMemberOk I just passed shnitzis in BP! Looks like they’re open!!
New utrecht and 54!
Hearty appetite!
smartcookieMemberEclipse- without doubt, he did mean it very literal”after they’re married”.
smartcookieMemberRamat- please don’t feel bad. We know you meant good. But we can’t go crazy because we have to do tshuva.
smartcookieMemberI can manage changing some negative trait(at least trying to), and posting in the CR.
I think when it comes to tshuva, we should all make our own decisions how we want to go about it.
smartcookieMemberWhen biting nails, one doesn’t realize that they’re biting. It’s not a matter of thinking”do I want to bite or not”.
The person usually realizes later what they were doing.
September 15, 2010 4:09 am at 4:09 am in reply to: Why don't heimeishe ladies use baby slings to schlep babies? #696175smartcookieMemberD a- he’s a frum man. (I hate answering for someone else!)
September 15, 2010 3:13 am at 3:13 am in reply to: Why don't heimeishe ladies use baby slings to schlep babies? #696172smartcookieMemberDepends when. For shopping? Carriages are a lot more convenient.
When I went on vacation and we had a lot of hiking tand cruises to do, I used it.
If it’s good for you, then don’t care what others do.
smartcookieMemberMosherose -It’s ossur to go to college esp. if they have internet access!
I’ve asked him many times why he’s on the internet(I hope it doesn’t go furthur than YW) even if it’s assur and not once got a response.
Some people just choose which area they’d like to be extra frum in.
