Blinky- marrying off your child? Secondary requirement for becoming a Zeida?
Hhhmmm…
And what would the first requirement be?
smartcookieMember$50 grand? Cookie, I’m sending my kids down the aisle on a whole lot less than that (I hope)
Are you sure about that? Or maybe you’re in for surprises…
Are you planning to buy furniture for your couples?
smartcookieMemberDoes BP Totty have any married kids at all?
You don’t become a Zeidy before spending $50,000 first! 🙂
smartcookieMemberDear posters- get a life. Why are you getting so hysterical over an overpriced Becher when people are throwing away big money for shtussim.
This problem is an old one and you can’t help it.
But I would rather be upset when I see the OTHER things people spend on. I’ll worry about an expensive Becher least.
smartcookieMemberShlomo- why not?
smartcookieMemberWe just bought a set at Eastside China in BP and were told by the boss that it doesn’t have to be toiveled.
He gave us a whole list of Rabbonim who pasken this way, the reason being that today’s China isn’t glazed with glass.
Please don’t take this as a Psak. Please ask your own Rav.
smartcookieMemberPopa- you got a point there. But sensitivity is always a must.
smartcookieMemberI can’t believe people actually fall for these things.
Please take a lesson from this. NEVER trust these online offers. And in an event that the offer is valid, it still pays to forgo on it because you are being extra cautious.
smartcookieMemberHelpful- no. Not at all. You can’t deny your life because others don’t have it so good.
But everything should be done with sensitivity. Change topics of discussions frequently, not to discuss ONLY kids, the house, etc.
You’re allowed to discuss the sale at Macys or some school memories too!!
smartcookieMemberThank you.
This is a very important post. If only people would always be more sensitive!
smartcookieMemberRather spend on a magnificant Shabbos table than spending on a car, vacation, etc…
Although I do think the price on this specific Becher is absurd, I still think you shouldn’t get all excited about it before you rant about all other Shtussim people spend on.
smartcookieMemberI just read through this thread and want to thank you all. I learned something new today and will try to work on it!
smartcookieMemberNisht Ahe- where do you keep all those cars parked??
And BTW, I love the Audis!!!
November 28, 2010 6:17 am at 6:17 am in reply to: How Can I Change My Attitude About Shabbos? #712866smartcookieMemberFRUMGIT- I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed this Shabbos!
I guess just talking about it and feeling that others are with you, makes us feel better automatically!
You said no toys were out. What in the world did your kids do all Shabbos without toys????
smartcookieMemberMy 3 year old is telling me all about the “mezonos pasim” which yaakov made for his favorite son Yoseph!
smartcookieMemberWow blinky that’s nice! It’s making me auto calm and relaxed!!!
smartcookieMemberEveryone sees, everyone knows. It’s just that nobodys surprised!
smartcookieMemberThinking and thinking- it’s all about politics and competition. ALL businesses are like that.
smartcookieMemberAmichai- I’d give up my car to live in Eretz Yisroel!
smartcookieMemberToyota Camry 2011!!
Love it!
smartcookieMemberI wrote a beautiful letter to my parents too. I sneaked it into their bedroom with a gift attached, the night before my wedding, and left it on the dresser for them to find.
It’s a beautiful way to express appreciation.
Some of my friends had a family member/friend put a letter and gift on the table in her parents home, while the family was already by the wedding. The found it when they came home. What a beautiful way to end a simcha!
smartcookieMemberTunabeigel- do what you want. But I would say to write words from your heart to your parents. Skip the rhymes. Rather write them a nice letter. It’s so much warmer.
Mazel Tov and in a Mazel’dig Shaah!!
smartcookieMemberMODS- When is your busiest time here?
At what point in the day/night do you get the most posts rolling in?
smartcookieMemberJust bought it. Looks great at a glance.
Mishpacha style.
November 25, 2010 4:34 am at 4:34 am in reply to: How Can I Change My Attitude About Shabbos? #712852smartcookieMemberI also have a tiny apt and a family of children baruch Hashem.
However, I don’t start Shabbos preps until thursday afternoon.
Preparing all my shabbos food takes about 1-2 hours.
Cleaning takes me another 2-3 hours.
It shouldn’t take you more than that. If it does, then maybe you have to cut down on some cleaning and do things during the week.
You should also freeze any Shabbos food that’s possible to freeze (soups, compote, Challas).
Regarding the mess- every blessed home gets messed up 10 minutes after it’s cleaned! You cannot help that!
And yes, whoever I speak to, including myself, says it takes until MONDAY to get the house back in order. So what? Drop the pressure. Do a little bit at a time.
Hatzlacha!
smartcookieMemberPoster, brisker- I also add a y sometimes and I donno why! But the word should be said clearly- like criby and not cwiby.
smartcookieMemberFrumlady-
Of course I change the TONE of voice when talking to my baby. But not the words.
I thought that was obvious.
I don’t say mama for mommy, or wanna go cwiby(crib), wannacookie (want a cookie).
I speak with an adults vocabulary but very softly.
This teaches babies full vocabulary.
smartcookieMemberIt’s bad to talk to kids like babies. You speak NORMALLY and they WILL understand.
I even talk to my one year old like I talk to my friends(in an appropriate manner of course). She understands every word.
It’s the only way they learn to talk normally. Otherwise they’ll talk like a baby until they’re 7!
smartcookieMemberIs it an official paying job or volunteer work?
smartcookieMemberWhat’s the point of this thread? To make fun of people who mean things lshem shomayim? So they come across funny. But they’re good, ehrliche people.
smartcookieMemberMod 80- LOL to my mistake and LOL to ur response!
smartcookieMemberWhy is it so private? What’s the big deal? We won’t find out who we are from this!
smartcookieMemberBP Totty you did the right thing. May it be a Zchus for you!
smartcookieMemberAKCC- wow that’s a lot! How do you do that?
smartcookieMemberThank you all for your suggestions and advice! You’re really being helpful.
smartcookieMemberAinOhd- the $3500 aren’t too loud. They’re very fine but beautiful. In perfect accordance with Tznius.
smartcookieMemberTunabeigel- that’s true.
My husbad has a $1500 one and it’s really gorgeous. I don’t see why he needed to spend $3500 on the other one, altough when comparing, it really does look so much richer.
smartcookieMemberYes Tuna Beigel- Shem Tov has the nicest ones.
AinOhd- most Chassanim is my circles buy one for $3500 and many also buy a second one for $1500 which they wear in bad weather!
The expensive ones should last at least 10 years. But they do get maintenance every so often. It needs to be rebrushed and glued down professionally.
November 23, 2010 6:29 am at 6:29 am in reply to: Common Spanish Words Or Phrases To Communicate With #714970smartcookieMemberManyana- tomorrow!
smartcookieMemberSomething well all be for 8 days, starting from next wednesday 🙂
smartcookieMemberDovv and Backinaction:
I have a feeling you’re the same person, but if you really are two friends, can you perhaps have your conversations face to face?
We usually discuss topics here that are of interest to us all!
smartcookieMemberThe exclamation button on my phone doesn’t work when dialing.
smartcookieMemberAnyone own a BH wig? They have a big sale now but I need to know if it pays.
smartcookieMemberBP Totty- LOL!! Prob is that I don’t fit any of those categories 🙂
FW- funny because 1000 is cheap for a kiki. They usually run between 1500-2000.
smartcookieMemberWhat do you mean by a good deal?
A good Shtreimel is expensive.
smartcookieMemberAnybody ever heard of Riki? Something new on the market.
smartcookieMemberThank you everybody so far.
Noitall- is “Number One” the company name?”
WIY- thanks for your advice! As a btw, it’s my 6th sheitel that I’m purchasing BH and I will make sure my husband of many years baruch hashem will like it!
FW- what price range were your kikis in?
I did hear many people happy with kiki and many people unhappy so I can’t decide.
Shevy sounds right but I was wondering if anything else is better. Sometimes I see people with fantastic sheitels and they paid between one and teo thousand. Shevys are more than that.
smartcookieMemberSunday is a very long day
The kids are so bored and don’t want to play,
All they do is fight
Oh what a sight
Is this the norm? Are we ok?
smartcookieMemberICOT- thanks!
smartcookieMemberOk DovvPlease stop. This really looks stupid.
