I did a pickled french roast:
Sauted a bunch of diced onion and garlic.
Place roast into pot. Add water to cover half of roast.
Cook for 3-4 hrs on small flame.
Yum!!
(When it’s cooled, freeze for an hour and then slice it.)
smartcookieMemberMII- how are you doing?
smartcookieMemberNot at all, Gefen, not at all.
smartcookieMemberHey, I’m quite an old timer here…
smartcookieMemberDY- I like yours best! Got me a chuckle!
smartcookieMemberHealth- do you only find yourselves disagreeing with the woman here?
smartcookieMemberHalachically, you only need to tell them if the business owner is a Jew.
But you did right. I would do that too and have done so in the past.
Isn’t a Kiddush Hashem worth 30 bucks?

By the way, honesty is one of my strongest points!
May 31, 2011 9:06 pm at 9:06 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778632smartcookieMemberI donno, now you got me thinking why I was punished so harshly for that. They put me in one corner and my partner in crime in another corner. Well well…I turned out fine!
May 31, 2011 7:18 pm at 7:18 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778629smartcookieMemberSorry- my previos post should’a said- “I TEAMED up with another girl”.
May 31, 2011 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778627smartcookieMemberI know, BPT. Please don’t shame me here in public! I tramed up with another kid and together we grabbed away a different girl’s snack 🙁
I remember it so clearly…the plan…the shame…the remorse…all from a little kindergarden kid!
smartcookieMemberHealth-
Mod 80 took the words out of my head about back to sleep. I don’t believe that their studies were all proven that babies died ONLY because they slept on their back. Sleeping on the stomach doesn’t put baby into danger. Otherwise I wouldn’t do it.
You’re not a mom and will never be since you’re a male, but sometimes we do know better than dr.s. It’s something we just cannot explain.
And no, I’m not so smart at all, but I do know how to care fore children.
May Hashem protect us all.
smartcookieMemberHealth- as a side note- I watched 2 different newborns recently laying on their back and choking while spitting up. They couldnt swallow and it was choking them. If i wouldnt realize in both incidents, Im scared to think of the consequences.
A person has to do Hishtadlus. As long as we’re not putting ourselves into danger(stomach sleeping isnt dangererous or crazy), then Hashem will watch us.
I really didnt want to hijack this thread, Sorry MII!
smartcookieMemberHealth- I follow dr.s’ orders when I don’t know something myself. Yes, I give immunization because I as the mother feel it’s important. But when it comes to day to day things, we do what we understand. We know our babies best!
Yes, I put my newborns to sleep on their stomach :O
smartcookieMemberHealth- most moms cannot follow books. We do what WE feel is best for the child. Yes, moms do know best.
smartcookieMemberYou can get a beautiful wodden plaque for their door with their last name engraved on it.
smartcookieMemberSome cleaning/organizing, lots of entertaining and keeping my cool, and I even managed to bake a cheesecake for Shavuos!!
May 29, 2011 5:48 pm at 5:48 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778618smartcookieMemberAlways here- so you’re about 60?? OMG what are you doing here??? You’re like my mom’s age!! How do you even know how to use the internet??!! 😀
May 29, 2011 5:29 pm at 5:29 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778616smartcookieMemberI remember being punished in the corner by my kindergarden teacher and pulling out the staples from the wall there from boredom.
smartcookieMemberMazel tov proud uncle!
smartcookieMemberMII- years ago I had pneumonia with crazy chest pains, weakness, and I thought I can’t feel worse than that. Years later I gave birth to my first baby and felt so terrible, that I couldn’t imagine feeling worse than that.
Now, that you’re experiencing both together, I could so well understand why you’re crying:)
I hope that my understanding of your situation makes you feel somewhat better!
Refuah Shelaime and Oif Simchas!
smartcookieMemberMother- I’m surprised you’re worried about your crying since this isn’t your first baby. U should know that this is completely normal. Your baby is 9, that’s NINE days old. You are lacking sleep and koach tremendously. Your hormones are flying. At 9 MONTHS I’d worry.
Just relax and try to get some sleep(yeah, I know…..)
And get your baby to start smiling so you’ll feel better!!
Mazel Tov and lots of Nachas.
smartcookieMemberNothing new! This is the oldest diet I follow for years! Chocolate at each meal. 😉
smartcookieMemberHey Haifa- welcome back to you! Haven’t seen you here in a while.
smartcookieMemberAYC- I just noticed you’re back and I sure am glad!
smartcookieMemberAYC- usually, when people tend to be “always right”, they don’t realize it themselves.
smartcookieMemberDY- thanks for that link. I’ve seen that post, but she did post a lot since then. And now she’s left us again so discreet!
smartcookieMemberShitcky you missed a very important line that Yoyo wrote-

smartcookieMemberMost of us here are very polite and pleasant even when arguing. The rudeness come from specific posters who think they’re always right and that they have a green light to insult others.
The overall atmoshphere is pretty friendly I have to say.
smartcookieMemberPac-man- thanks for starting with that Rambam all over again. It sure was fun the first time around….
smartcookieMemberShe left us? Just like that? No farewell?
smartcookieMemberYoyo- you are opening too many threads about the opposite gender and yourself. You need serious help. Please go seek it.
smartcookieMemberAnd nobody remembered MO?
smartcookieMemberLol Goq! You forgot to mention her green color, definitely very Untznius. Black would be a lot more appropriate.
smartcookieMemberIt’s a Halacha to cover one’s hair when married. Doesn’t make it right to put on a very beautiful, natural looking looking Sheitel, but that’s a whole different story.
smartcookieMemberGoq- can you think of a reson as to why he wouldn’t want you at his wedding? You don’t have to tell us, I’m just curious if there’s reasoning behind your accusations.
smartcookieMemberI had the default background until two minutes ago when I saw this post. Just switched it to a pic of my baby!
smartcookieMemberWhydya call yourself um? When someone thinks it doesn’t sound like that.
smartcookieMemberYou’re very welcome 🙂
smartcookieMemberWolf- time to change your view of yourself. We told you so many times that you’re a great, intelligent person. What more do you need to believe it?
smartcookieMemberAYC- I would definitely not allow one poster’s rude comments effect me. Most of us really try to be polite around here, and you shouldn’t leave because of one person.
That said, please continue posting here. I am enjoying your posts immensly, specifically your sense of humor. No, I’m not trying to make you feel better! I’m really entertained by your humorous posts, and quite impressed with your serious ones.
smartcookieMemberI don’t think this thread is appropriate at all. Yeah, but it’s funny!
May 17, 2011 4:14 am at 4:14 am in reply to: Dismay – Japanese Injustice Travesty and Tefillos #767246smartcookieMemberWhile I feel terrible for these Bochurim, I wouldn’t blame the Japanese justice system.
They didn’t know they have drugs with them, true, but the fact is that they entered the country with illegal material.
Japan has the full right to punish them, no matter how much it hurts us.
I,too, Davened so much for them to be freed, and I wish they wouldn’t have to suffer these consequences. They so didn’t want to do bad. My heart goes out to them as I continue praying for them.
But blame Japan? I don’t think it’s right. They’re just punishing an illegal act. Something that is a very terrible crime in that country.
Hashem should help them get through this crisis easily and quickly.
smartcookieMemberPareve- rosemaries bar- the brown wrapper, parve. It’s heaven- I also eat it when I’m Milchig cuz it’s delic!
A good dairy choco is Torino. The 3 in a pack, long sticks. (Red wrapper). Rich and creamy.
I luv choc!! (Yes, baking chocolate too!)
smartcookieMemberAYC- you caught on real quick
Thanks for taking this thread as your pick
We can use some more rhymers
New ones or old timers
To make the limericks tick!
smartcookieMemberHey, Minyan Gal, where’ve ya’ been,
Not writing limericks is a big sin
Were so glad you’re here
With a limerick to share
Welcome back, c’mon in!
smartcookieMemberSilent- That is a beautiful and heartfelt Tefillah. Talking to Hashem from your heart, in your own words, is also Tefillah.
smartcookieMemberStop judging before you heard two sides of the story. I don’t accept that the Yeshiva just expels like that. For all we know they warned the boy a hundred times before.
We won’t know the truth and the CR cannot help you other than listening to your venting!
smartcookieMemberIlovetorah- is there anything specific that your wife would love to have in the house? Did she ever mention new dishes, a nice vase? Set of linen, or anything like that?
