SL1Memberi agree that there is a current crisis for girls due to the age gap but if we accept nasi’s claim that some girls will NEVER get married than inevitably there will be or was some boys that wont or didn’t get married. maskim popa and halevi?
November 26, 2013 5:17 am at 5:17 am in reply to: Yated article about barely making it financially #991814SL1Memberlower income families rely on government programs, while middle income families use up all their money on essentials
SL1MemberThe gemara in gittin 88b is clear that force in only allowed by a get in a case where one is required to divorce his wife not any time the wife wants a get and the husband doesn’t want to give it.
SL1Memberholy smokes!!
SL1Memberhero
SL1Memberof course the husband has an obligation to support his wife. but if they mutually agree that she should work of course it works. and all this malarkey about going OTD from collge. please. dont we all know professionals who actually became baalei teshuva in college? a person is obligated to learn a trade and if the world we live in doesn’t agree with torah values, what are we going to do, lock ourselves in a cage?! hopefully the torah that he learnt before he goes to college and his own convictions will keep him from being influenced by anti-torah values.
and while were on the topic. i digress. this era in yiddishkeit is the era of ‘gedarim'(fences). no internet. no college. no working. all ‘gedarim’. the irony is that while the purpose of ‘gedarim’ are to keep us from being ‘parutz’, we have now become ‘parutz’ in making ‘gedarim’. but isn’t the purpose not to avoid nisyonos but to overcome nisyonos!? why must we shy away from every battle and not have some trust in our torah, our mesora, and ourselves!? isn’t it time we faced the world as it is, became part of the world, and still held on to our traditions to the fullest extent?! wer’e acting like a child who plays peek-a-boo and thinks that since he cant see you, you cant see him as well. the ‘gedarim’ are not the purpose. the purpose is living a torah life – that is, living, with torah.

SL1Memberpba: Why do you shudder? The rca is not a chareidi organization and understandably this is what they think. Can they not say what they think?
SL1MemberDH: That’s ridiculous. If he was changed his position how could that be a machlokes?
SL1Memberrav wolbe was known to be opposed to hitting children.
May 31, 2013 4:58 am at 4:58 am in reply to: Admitting bad judgement: Is it seen as a sign of strength or weakness? #957373SL1MemberWhat is the difference how it is seen? The bottom line is how can we accept people as gedolim if they will not admit their mistake? What is going on here!?
SL1MemberYou will need to first get a credit card that does not give points as those are easier to get approved and that way you will build credit. I think it hat store credit cards are most likely to approve eg Macy’s banana republic kohls etc. Also try discover or capitalone student if you’re a student. In general amex is hard to get approved and you’d be better off starting with any capital one / discover / chase (freedom, slate). Also good info on credit cards at dans deals website. See there about calling for reconsideration after you’ve been declined.
SL1MemberHey you’re not annoying me so I guess that hobby isn’t working out that well. Sorry for asking but why are you not in school?
SL1Memberno offense but why do you post so much?
SL1MemberI stand corrected, he is anti-frum. However, I do find it useful for news about chareidim that is not reported on in chareidi media like molestation cases.
SL1MemberI was referring to 2 videos that were recently posted on ywn (1 is still up), one with two satmar chasidim arguing and the other with a satmar guy calling rav steinman and the belzer rebbe reshaim, which is interesting because until now it seems that sites like ywn and matzav do not post things about controversy among chareidim. The one with the satmar guys fighting was also on the anti chareidi site failedmessiah.
SL1MemberMoishe S: No your mother is not an apikoirus since shabbos shoes is not one of the fundamentals of yiddishkeit. If you want to convince her maybe tell her to look at Sam2 and Avi K’s posts.

SL1MemberI don’t think there is anything wrong with a simple “good shabbos”.

SL1MemberThe SEED program is run by Torah Umesorah and sends bochurim and girls to different communities in the summer to do kiruv. Website: chinuch.org/project_seed.php
SL1MemberThis is one of the causes of the modern day OTD syndrome. When instead of making logical and sensible rules like one may not browse indecent websites or use the internet at all we go overboard and make insensible and unreasonable rules like one may not even hold a smartphone, then eventually the rule will be questioned and abandoned totally. But if the rule was sensible in the first place then it is more likely to last. Anybody agree or disagree?
SL1MemberBigGolem: So what exactly is your dillema? Why don’t you give up cholov yisroel just like you gave up the “black and white cookie attire”?
SL1Memberget a cream in the drugstore.
