March 22, 2011 2:15 am at 2:15 am in reply to: Tznius- Not black and white (and red all over). #751393Sister BearMember
That’s what I’ve been thinking but kinda differently.
There are 2 parts of tznius. The actual halacha which is elbows, knees, collarbone. And then there is the image – the refined dignified look. So when people just say something is assur like sequins becuase on one person it wasn’t tznius, thats a problem.
As long as you are maintaining the right look within the framework of halacha (which is elbows, knees, collarbone) then its fine.
(And this goes with everything else as well. Everyone just immediately assurs everything cuz people can do bad stuff with it.)
Sister BearMemberAny school that is giving a full day of school today, is in my opinion brainless (and heartless). We could barely concentrate for 1/2 day…imagine sitting in class till 4-5!!!
Sister BearMemberMonday – cuz it’s Shushan Purim!!!!! (and then the teachers can pile on the work for Tuesday because you anyways have a day off, I mean who is partying on Monday?? :))
Friday – not complaining. But there is no reason why they should give off.
Tomorrow – it’s a fast!!!!! π HAVE AN EASY FAST!!!!!!!!!!
Sister BearMemberHow about the fact that only when there is a tragedy that the Jews band together but when everything is fine and dandy there is sooooo much disunion??
Instead of yelling about how the Jews in Israel don’t keep the Torah which won’t help anything, why not work on yourself (I’m not talking to someone in particular) and on Achdus so that we don’t need such tragedies to pull us together.
Sister BearMemberwhatelseisleft – you don’t have to know how to speak the language. My great-grandmother (may she live and be well till 120) has lived there for the past 50 years and she doesn’t know a word of hebrew.
Sister BearMemberI always pace when I talk on the phone, no matter how insignificant the conversation is. Why is pacing so nerve-wracking to watch??
Sister BearMemberI heard in a shiur from someone who knows his stuff, that sayin ‘Oh my G-D’ is ossur mideoyrayso. People don’t seem to know this.
I learned in a shiur and saw inside the Torah and meforshim that adding on to the Torah is an issur deoraisa. People don’t seem to know this.

not being fully valued or listened to because “you’re just a teen and we’re adults and know better.” Heads up…sometimes you don’t.
Sister BearMemberI say enjoy your teen years. Cuz they’re the years of your life your old enough (and hopefully mature enough) to do fun adultish things yet you don’t have the responsibilities of an adult (like a house to take care of, and kids…)
Sister BearMemberI have no idea, but I always wanted to do that so if you find one, let me know π
pomeranz – just because some people take dressing up too far doesn’t mean it should be banned for everyone.
My friend wants to dress up as Barbie. But she has black hair and does NOT look good in blond. I wonder how shes going to pull that off.
February 20, 2011 6:43 pm at 6:43 pm in reply to: fantasy amount of kids/ boy/girl ratio etc. #742482Sister BearMemberI heard that it has to be 7 boys in a row in order to go to Gan Eden. I just want a lot of boys and like 1 or 2 girls (they can be twins π
Sister BearMemberSorry, didn’t really have time. Nothing happened :'(
(I’ll probably get yelled at for saying this) I really wanted to decorate the school for Valentines Day.
And for Purim Katan, I wasn’t in school and they didn’t do anything.
Heres an idea for computer savvy people (you gotta know how to write computer code and you need smart boards), write a code that will cause the Smart Board to do weird things, like either make it ask questions or have something just keep on popping up during class.
I am sooooo doing something for Rosh Chodosh Adar 2!!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Sister BearMemberWear those Arab things that only have your eyes showing. No one will know who you are.
Sister BearMemberphillybubby – girls say guys ALL the time. That unfortunately is not what makes chayav story full of holes.
Sister BearMemberOne night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
Sister BearMemberUm chayav nice try, they come on the 24th or 25th.
And I thought you were a Bubby or a teenage guy, so why you trying to be a girl now?
Sister BearMemberMy mother hangs up the notes my father gives her, but it’s ok cuz nobody can read his handwriting anyway. π
Sister BearMemberSomewhere a policeman dressed up as a regular person and another police man sat in the car while the “reg guy” kept on crossing the st so they could give tickets for not yielding to pedestrians.

Sister BearMemberA and D ointment is awesome!!! It makes your lips normal in like 2 days and plus it looks like you’re wearing lip gloss.
I find that I only wanna pick my lips on Shabbos and have to do everything in my power not to. But when Motzei Shabbos comes, I don’t need to pick them anymore. Weird!!!
Sister BearMemberThere’s another thread with thousands of good quotes.
Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
I like that one.
“I am beautiful, smart, and have what it takes to get through this day.” (friends sister)
Sister BearMemberCuz they might become friends with the opposite gender *gasp* and then when they are teenagers might meet and…
(actually happened to my sister. We were at a bar mitzva meal once and don’t ask why the put a family of girls next to the bar mitzva boys friends, but they did and one of my sisters and one of the boys were best friends in school. WOW were they embarrassed!!!)
Sister BearMember????? ???? ?? ?????? ????? ??? ?????? – the death of Tzadikim is equal to the burning of the Bais HaMekdash.
??? ???? ??? ????? ???? ??? – the building of the Bais HaMekdash doesn’t push of Shabbos.
??? ????? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???? ??? ???? ?????? – you cried a cry for nothing, therefore I will give you a reason to cry for generations (talking about when they cried by the Meraglim)
Sister BearMemberI am currently looking into bringing a video. Any contacts or leads would be helpful.
My sister was looking into doing that to raise money for her grades graduation trip, and it wasn’t worth it (at least the all girls ones), you had to pay for the video and per person, like they charge $10 per person so you would have to up it to like $20.
Sister BearMemberYou know those baby books that have like what is the price of a loaf of bread, a bottle of milk…in them?
Now I know the reason why people do it, so their kids can feel really old!!!
Sister BearMemberlkwdfellow – lol
Heard about the robber who went in to rob a bank but realized he couldn’t get any of the gold and he couldn’t get out, so he called the cops to help him out.
Sister BearMemberMy mother remembers driving to New Jersey (from New York) cuz gas was 89 cents. (And I WAS alive during that time too.)
I remember tapes π and making the squealing sounds by holding down the fast forward button.
Baruch Dayan HaEmes – yossi.
Sister BearMemberThanx 88 π
Sister BearMemberWasn’t Yitzchak answered before Rivka because it’s harder to sometimes be frum, really frum with a love for mitzvos and all and not just a facade, when it’s expected of you.
BT’s get all this praise for becoming frum but FFB’s don’t get any recognition for staying frum and it’s hard sometimes. So I guess we do get credit too.
Sister BearMemberdogo – my friend told me about it that it happened to her brother’s friend or something. Why?
I just feel plain wierd sitting on the subway if there are a lot of other older people then me. UNLESS there are a lot of empty seats or I really need to sit down cuz I was walking forever somewhere.
But as my friends once pointed out while we were on the subway once, nobody is going to sit in that seat anyway. Like if its in between your friend and a stranger. But I don’t know, it still feels weird.
Sister BearMemberFinally I was on during the offer time (whatever)!!!
Can I pretty please with a cherry on top get a subtitle???
Thanks π
Sister BearMemberI always say I’m sooo glad I’m not a guy. Uch imagine having to go out 3 times a day in the freezing cold!!!!! So PBA I can understand why its hard to do it.
But in my house…my father can go to sleep at 1 and wake up at 6 to learn and daven. He instilled in us a chasivus for davening, never to be late (if he wants to catch a minyan at 5:30 he’s outta the house by 5), not to rush into davening, not to talk during davening…
So PBA if right now you don’t have kids to be a role model for, first of all you might not know who else is looking up to you and 2 – you don’t automatically change once you’re married. So if you do want davening to be a big thing for your kids then try and start now.
Good luck!!!
Sister BearMemberThose fast dieting programs rarely work.
Eat less, exercise more. And you must do cardio!!!
Sister BearMemberThanks for sticking up for me Shticky Guy π
Come on Mod 88, you know you want to give me one ;D
Tell you what, if you give me one I’ll tell you the one I thought of for you!!! You can’t give up on that offer!!!
Sister BearMemberMy mother told my younger sister to pick up the apples that were on the floor…she turned around and was like “I don’t see them.” π π π
Sister BearMemberbumb…Rosh Chodosh Adar 1 is tomorrow!!! We need ideas that could involve the WHOLE school.
These classroom ideas are great but our classrooms are pint sized so we need to do something that involves other things.
Sister BearMemberThey moved cholent here to Thursday night now – some boys drive to Monsey because a gas station there has the best cholent and don’t you DARE try to cut them in line unless you would like to end your life.
Sender – I know a bunch of girls who would love for their husbands to cook for them (they aren’t married either :)) since they hate to cook themselves so don’t worry about knowing how to cook. π
Sister BearMemberyossi z. – random but every time I see a post from you I just want to smile cuz those big grins are kinda infective =D
Sister BearMembers2021 – there are some really strong drugs you can take if you have physical pain, like morphine…
Sister BearMemberI agree with cleverjewishpun that people aren’t accepting of each other’s differences. When people first came to America the divide between Orthodox and Shomer Torah and Mitzvos and the irreligious Jews. I think thats why the Orthodox Jews weren’t accepting of the irreligious Jews since they needed to protect themselves.
But nowadays, things are different and we need to be more accepting. If a school teaches that people who work or have a TV or who’s father wears jeans or whatever aren’t good Jews and frum Jews – THAT’S NOT TRUE!!!! And it’s not the way WE do it and they alienate people who have slightly different Hashkafos…
People need to learn to live and let live. If they’re not doing something assur (that was written in the Torah and not in your book) LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!
If you don’t want to marry someone who wears jeans, fine don’t no one is forcing you to but that doesn’t mean they’re a bad person.
If you don’t want to have a TV in your home, don’t but just because someone does have a TV in their home doesn’t make them any less frum than you.
Sister BearMemberHey not fair I missed it cuz I was in school!!! :'(
Can I please be the next on line???
Sister BearMemberA neighbors something or other gave them a nice amount of money but told them to use it to buy something for Shabbos. I think that’s a smart thing to do.
<3 me <3
Sister BearMemberDoesn’t emotional pain almost inevitably in some way lead to physical pain?? And vica versa doesn’t physical pain somehow lead to emotional pain?
Sister BearMemberPeople who are stupid and don’t use their brains, I mean G-d gave them to you, use them.
People who don’t have common sense, uchhh sooooo annoying!!!
Sister BearMembercandy maybe I’m a guy?? π
But trust me I was just trying figure out what was going on in my school I didn’t have time to listen to other fone schools (people better not figure me out now). Sry I don’t even know where you live.
But I mean come on, give a grade a phone and put the teacher one with everyone talking they’re bound to do some of the same things.
Other schools better not catch on, it’s not fun to be woken up on a snow day with your mother telling you, you have a class now π But in some ways its better, class in pj’s π
Sister BearMemberYa π but the phone is also the perfect time for Purim shtick, people started playing music, blowing on the phone (causing static), teachers were trying to get new numbers cuz they thought the line was bad. Imagine at least 50 kids on one phone at once.
The bright side is that unless a teacher takes attendance during the class or at the end you can join in the beginning, like just for attendance and then hang up and no cuts π
Sister BearMemberI just saw a hysterical clip of this old man who goes into this fruit store and is like talking about how his blackberry is frozen but it’s like the berry – blackberry and all these things that if you were just listening to them you would think that they’re talking about technology but they’re talking about fruits.
It’s hilarious, and you see how much of technology we get from fruits…hmmm wonder why that is.
Sister BearMemberCan I have a subtitle??? Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top?? 8) (thats puppy dog eyes. Sorry my drawing skills aren’t that talented)
Sister BearMemberBPT – what’s considered a healthy BMI?
