DY: Your profile has you joining less than a year ago while I joined just over FOUR years ago. So I’m an old dog here. When I saw dr pepper’s post, of course I looked to see if the “phd” subtitle was there. And of course I went into his profile to check it. I know he’s still posting just under a new sn! Maybe they are going thru a difficult time and are even hating themself. But maybe ??? are telling us that deep down everyone DOES love themselves. Even in a bad situation, however bad, a person likes does like themself and should like themself. Never give up hope. There is always a way out.

This is just not acceptable. First of all did you have written permission to copy someone else’s intellectual property? They may have worked for months on that line. Secondly, if your wife was telling you to get off the computer and the poster before’s husband was calling them, then you’re obviously different both genders and shouldnt be allowed in the same thread.

Re msseeker’s suggested rule of no direct discussion between genders, I was going to say that I dont have anyone’s email address and only post on a public site that my wife (husband?) also looks thru and she knows my username. That’s my shmira. Not that I need one for one off lines that I wont develop into conversations. But I cant write this cos I dont know msseeker’s gender.
Joking and chattering should be allowed only in male-only or female-only threads.
This is why I have never yet posted in any of the general shmooze threads. They can sometimes get a bit heimish.
How do you figure out who’s a boy and who’s a girl when you can only rely on the screenname of the poster which isnt checked when they join here. I didnt have to provide proof of ID when I joined. Did you?
Plenty names have no hint of gender at all. Then what do you do?
I even know of one female poster who has brother in her screenname…
And I dont even want to bring up chayav and his bubby again!

Actually the sea of reeds is not on the way at all if you check the maps either in the chumash or even any map or atlas. Which water lies between Egypt and Israel? None. They didnt need to cross any water at all. That is the point.

Eclipse, I was just trying to bring a smile to your face during this stressful time. I’m sure you have made the correct decision in the long term. But he is still a part of your kids lives, and it will increase their stability and happiness to be there, which surely is what you wish for them.

Yes women have it ‘easier’ to attain a high level of kedusha as you say. But how many men do you know who would rather be a woman, busy at home and with all the responsibilities that goes with that. I know plenty women who would prefer the much more ‘exciting’ life of a man, especially at times like purim, simchas torah, in fact every shabbos and yomtov even for the litvish and esp for the chassidish, but overall really for every man every day of the year with minyanim, aliyos, socialising etc. Most women by comparison have a quieter, duller life. So yes a man has it harder but more enjoyable and women are higher without the wonderful things that make a man shteig.

I didnt like sites like the one poppa uses cos you cant click on the letters on the screen, but you must keep looking up to the screen to find which key to press then down to your keyboard for every letter. Other sites eg http://people.w3.org/rishida/scripts/pickers/hebrew/
have the hebrew alphabet onscreen and you simply click on the letters. I find this far easier. This is the best method when the computer you are using is not yours so you dont want to change the settings as mentioned in an earlier post. And if you save the address of the hebrew site to your emails then you can access it wherever you are.
My vote for mayor goes to the super strong dude, who will protect coffeetown from any invaders or enemies, is not afraid of taking GIANT issues head on, and shows good lifestyle examples eg only eating healthy vegetables… I refer, obviously, to Popeye Bar Abba!
And let us vote for other positions within our town.
