Shticky GuyParticipantChocandpatience: So sorry I didnt see your post. You’re very good. Yes you are exactly correct.
So come on guys. Follow the twisted logic and work out the four remaining ones which are 3, 4, 7 and 8
Shticky GuyParticipantThis thread seems to be lagging behind a little.
Anyone know why sunday is known as Lag B’omer and is not called Lag L’omer by anyone besides A23?
Shticky GuyParticipantBSD Thanx for your suggestions. The final one, milk shake, is correct. The other attempts are a little shaky…
Shticky GuyParticipantWith up to 9 wives holed up with him, OBL couldnt have been armed otherwise if would have shot himself…
And why are the al qaeeda guys upset? They have all now moved up their rankings.
Bin Laden has had the ultimate waterboarding experience. He went up to heaven where he was met by 72 vegans.
Shticky GuyParticipantDZ Correct! Well done.
Come on guys lets figure out some of the other ones. I spent time working on them! Some are hard, some are easy eg the first one is simple. Have a guess!
Shticky GuyParticipantThere are 31 letters in the Russian alphabet
Shticky GuyParticipantSqueak resurfaced! Wow!! Hi howya doing? Long time no squeak! How are the dolphins. Surely they could have told you it was safe to resurface. I mean you’re popping in only once in a while these days so at least I caught you this time. You’re not trying for Post Of The Year, you seem to have finished your chess match with SJSinNYC, you dont post any more limericks, wierd abbreviations or good forwards. Why? You too busy? Keep in touch. There’s not many posters left from your era. Dont you want to go for a Coffee Oscar? Come on!
Shticky GuyParticipantAries Grimm: cute story!
Zeeskite: why shouldnt she be here? Its not a closed thread…
Shticky GuyParticipantChanieE: Love your post! (I would press the ‘like’ button if there was one).
Shticky GuyParticipantTachat omed is a classic. I did have to read it 5 times before I understood it!
Some words are literal and easy. The first time I heard the words ???? ??? I knew exactly what they were.
Lets have some fun. What do posters think the following sentences mean? (excuse the spelling):
?? ?? ?????? ?????.1. ?
???? ????? ???? ?????.2. ?
??? ?? ?? ????? ????.3. ?
??? ???? ??????? ????.4. ?
?? ?? ?? ???? ?????.5. ?
?? ??? ???? ?????.6. ?
??? ???? ???? ???? ?????.7. ?
?? ???? ????? ???? ???? ?????.8. ?
Shticky GuyParticipantYea hello candy. I noticed you havent been around since pesach. There are a few posters like that. So I put it down to them not getting back into routine or starting a new job or yeshiva etc and they dont have the time to post. There have also been quite a lot of new posters recently which makes it harder to notice that an old poster isnt posting, though you’re still pretty recent-ish yourself and with some posters mentioned we’re going back a couple of years. But good to see you are here and keep your sweet posts coming.
Shticky GuyParticipantit’s 2:37 a.m.
So it IS the morning!
Shticky GuyParticipantMiI Do you know the sequence of words?
Shticky GuyParticipantFor a joke I switched all the beds in my house for trampolines. My wife hit the roof !
Shticky GuyParticipantI guess Mommy didnt have me yet when that story came out
Well, considering the brothers Grimm lived around 1785…
Shticky GuyParticipantOf course we want all the aforementioned posters back. And mod, dont you go chasing dr pepper away (whichever dr pepper this one is). We’ve hardly heard from them since april fools day. Its always good to have a doctor in the house, especially if he’s a particularly humorous dude as this one is!
Anyways, if you want the doctor to keep away, dont bother turning switches. Just keep eating those apples… 🙂
Shticky GuyParticipantPac man I’ve read thru your riddle several times but cant work it out.
Here’s a word one:
There is an English word that is nine letters long. It is possible to remove all the letters one by one (not necessarily in order) and each time to still be left with an English word, right down to a single letter.
What is the word and what are the words that it becomes as you remove the letters?
Shticky GuyParticipantwolf- you have lots of hidden things in you
Yes. Wolves do. Go ask Little Red Riding Hood!
I still remember this from the “Elter Zeida & Elter Bubbe; Uncle’s & Aunt’s” thread http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/elter-zeida-elter-bubbe-uncles-aunts
WolfishMusings
The Wolf
“What should the kinderlach call their elter zeida and bubbe’s? Simply Zeidy and Bubby? How will they differentiate between all the Elter Zeidy’s and the regular Zeidy’s?”
Does it really matter?
FWIW, my kids refer to their great-grandmothers as “Grandma” and have no problem differentiating them from their actual grandmothers.
The Wolf
Joseph
The Bed-Stuy Account
Wolf: When they talk to you about “Grandma”, how do you know which grandma or great-grandma they are speaking of?
Moderator-80
Mr. 80
no one mentions grandma to the wolf anymore, not after that unfortunate incident with the girl in the red hood.
=================
For those of you unfamiliar with the little red riding hood episode, I’ll paste my version from the above thread. (How many posters do you recognize?):
Shticky Guy
Shtick on a Stick 🙂
Little red riding hood by YWN poster names:
There was a once a HELPFUL BASMELECH called red riding hood. One day her MOTHER IN ISRAEL told her that her FLATBUSH BUBBIE was not in best HEALTH and was in BED-STUY getting some MNUCHA so she should POPPA over to see her cos she was BORED STIFF.
Walking thru the woods she met a predator who had WOLFISH MUSINGS about eating her.
When she knocked at the door, the WOLF replied HELLO. But TRUTH BE TOLD she had a lot of COMMON SENSE so she realised something was wrong.
‘Are you AT HOME BUBBIE’ she called. ‘OF COURSE’ replied the WOLF, ‘I’m ALWAYS HERE, come in & dont worry, I’m NEVER CAUSTIC’!
But although the wolf put on a SMILE E. FACE, she wasnt fooled cos she was a SMARTCOOKIE.
‘Are you really Grandma?’ she said. DUNNO said the wolf. Who else could I be? I’m not like JOSEPH, an ECLIPSE with hundreds of names you know!
So she thought FEIF UN, I’ll go and check. KEN ZAYN its her. All should be ok cos HASHEM LOVES ME.
Grandma, such big teeth you have she said. OOO-MISS said the wolf its MAMASHTAKAH azoi. You’re stating THE OBVIOUS. Come here and I’ll eat you! So she ran straight home DERECH HAMELECH and lived happily ever after.
Shticky GuyParticipant2 old yentas were eating together in a restaurant. “Such awful food here” said the first. “I agree” said the second, “It’s completely inedible. And such small portions they give”!
Shticky GuyParticipantDid you hear about the pair of simese twins who moved to England just so that the other one could learn to drive!
Shticky GuyParticipantA recently arrived bachur in our dorm told us he was very impressed how many makolets (grocery stores) there were. He said there’s virtually one every few corners, and there are even signs pointing to them, something I had not noticed. When we were out walking he pointed one out to me. It was a sign that said miklat !!
Shticky GuyParticipantI wouldnt mind being an introvert cos ???? ????? ????? so they must all be clever.
On the other hand, ?????? ??? ????? ?? ????? ?? or ?? ????? ??? ??? so I still have a chance.
Shticky GuyParticipantAll threads are interesting. Its only when you try to say them six times fast that things begin sounding silly…
Shticky GuyParticipantSchmerling chocolate…
Swiss chocolate, Yum! Actually, what type of chocolate dont I like?
Nothing in the world cures worry, stress, anxiety, sadness, and depression like chocolate!
Shticky GuyParticipantNot played this game for a while. Was gonna post 27 letters of aleph beis but that was already posted.
Ok. 27 is the sum of the 7th odd number (13) and the 7th even number (14)
Shticky GuyParticipantBsd lol.
This thread is something anyone who speaks ivrit and learned in a Yeshiva is Israel should have several episodes to add here.
This one I witnessed. We were once in a pizza store when a group of American tourist invaded loudly, deciding what to order. They decided on pizza with mushrooms. Then one of them announced that as he spoke the language he would order. He went over and said “er, anee rowtze, er, pizza gadol im mitriot”! (mushrooms are pitriot, while mitriot are umbrellas!)
Another story goes that a guy needed to know the time. He asked someone “slicha, mah hashaah achshav”. They said “ein li musag”. So he asked somebody else. They replied “slicha ein li musag. So he went upto a 3rd guy and asked him “yesh lecha musag?” !!!
To change language, a chassidisher meshulach knocked on a house and the mother told the kid to say the father wasnt at home. The kid proudly said “mein tatte is nisht in zein hoizen”
Shticky GuyParticipantdid shticky sell you that bridge?
No I didnt sell it. It could have been a bridge too far. Too long to go into great detail, so you’ll have to do with this abridged answer.
can I volunteer for the chevrah kaddishah or is that taken already by the SEALs?
No no no! You got it all wrong. The SEALs dont work for the chevrah kaddishah, they only supply them with customers…
Ps Such a shame OBL died before achieving his stated aim of muslim control in all corners of the earth without learning that the earth is in fact round… 🙂
Shticky GuyParticipantAnd can someone please bump the “great real-estate” thread?
With pleasure. This was requested on another thread, a “best personal thread” thread. Yes, we’re very good at bumping. Bumping up, bumping off…
Shticky GuyParticipantBlinky that limerick was great
It was for sure well worth the wait
You should open a thread
With limericks guys have said
It cant be better ‘Never’ than ‘Late’???
Shticky GuyParticipantI tried to edit my last post but was too late. How could I have forgotten the ultimate, prestigious and indefatigable super thread authoress, Eclipse.
Shticky GuyParticipantI absolutely loved Shticky’s Real Estate for Sale – Great Price
ayc Thanx
for the record, mine is the limerick thread
blinky – which thread is that? I must have missed that one. Is it good? It must be from a long time ago cos I cant remember the last time I saw it on the main page…
Things kids said/did
Yes there sure are some cute comments there
I also started the latest on the situation in Egypt and one on ambidextrous. Zeeskite & deiyerzooger started gr8 ones, as did others I dont recall offhand.
Shticky GuyParticipantSpoiler a huge mazaltov to you! I cant help in your request, but want to give you moral support. I know someone in the same situation a while back and he was very careful to keep his family happy as much as possible, as you are obviously doing, even though they were very against what he was doing by turning frum. A few years down the line, his parents say openly that they get much more nachas from his frum, well behaved family and kids than from any of his other siblings!
mixed seating for singles increases the possibilities for shidduchim
???
Charlie: Please research this. I find it difficult to believe any frum rav would say this as a general rule.
Shticky GuyParticipantThats why nobody dries pets in microwaves nowadays. Once they have washed their pet in a washing machine, they allow them to dry naturally.
Shticky GuyParticipantYes it can be hereditary. Yes some dentists seen to thrive on cavities and find them more than other dentists. Yes flouride mouthwash is amazing; when I use it I can actually feel tingling in my teeth. Yes timing of brushing teeth is of utmost importance. And yes we must be careful what we eat inbetween brushings. I think everything has been said.
One dentist has the following notice hanging up by his dental chair:???? ??? ???????” ??” (Open wide your mouth and I will fill it) !!
Shticky GuyParticipantwhen raw, most saltwater fish that are eaten can be carriers of… causing mild to serious complications
Moderator 80… Obviously not chassidish
If Mod 80 can dare question one of the basic tenets and focal points of yiddishkeit, herring for shalesheedis, then he’s obviously not chassidish! I mean, cholent can also cause mild to serious complications but we still eat that, dont we! Lol 🙂
Shticky GuyParticipantshould someone make a living or go to kollel and rely on the one above
Should someone go to kollel or make a living and rely on the One Above?
capitalize it. It’s considered proper respect
as in The Wolf
Shticky GuyParticipantwasting time in the coffee room on the internet is not?
Firstly a warm ???? ????? to Cinci Bengal on behalf of everyone. Hope your stay here will be a pleasant one.
Secondly, wasting time on the internet is different cos its not the same ???????…?? :-).?? Jk.
Yes you’re obviously correct about anyone just “wasting time” is ????? ????. But if its ok to spend “a short time” relaxing then instead of reading a book etc. one can visit ywn. And dont put ywn on level with stam internet. When I go online, I limit myself to mainly my emails and ywn instead of browsing. This is a frum moderated site where besides possibilities of ???? ????,?? ??????? ? ?? or ?????? ??? ??, we are all ???????.
Shticky GuyParticipantWhy are some Jews against Israel?
Why is Israel against the Jews
These 2 questions should be reworded as follows: Why are religious and irreligious Jews anywhere in the world always fighting against each other and putting each other down? It is a real shame that this happens. Yes, torah Jews wish to ensure that they are not influenced chas vshalom by the irreligious who in turn think that we live in the dark ages and should stop imposing our old fashioned way of life upon them. But it still sad that there is such animosity and hatred between 2 camps of Yidden, yes they are Yidden, and we cant all live our separate lives with less antagonism.
May 10, 2011 1:03 pm at 1:03 pm in reply to: Who's going to be wearing blue and white tomorrow? #943836Shticky GuyParticipantWho’s going to be wearing blue and white tomorrow?
Easy. The Toldos Aharon-niks will be. With their blue and white garb and knitted kappels, they appear to be the ultimate zionists 🙂
all the generations of Jews for whom “Next year in the Land of Israel” was a dream that had as much chance of happening… I can live here in Israel
Next year in the Land of Israel? That’s not what we say or daven for. We say ???? ???? ???????? ?????-? (Next year in the rebuilt Yerusholayim), ie with Moshiach!
Shticky GuyParticipantJUST RELEASED! “OSAMA BIN LADEN”
COMING SOON TO A SHORE NEAR YOU!
Shticky GuyParticipantI just sold my vacuum cleaner on ebay. It was only gathering dust.
Shticky GuyParticipantPoppa is your statement a lie
This reminds me of what I heard re what ??? ???? said in ????? (or !??????)
??? ????? ????? ?? ???? ???
“I say in my haste that all men are liars”.
Someone said that if all men are liars then that he is including himself, and if so the statement could be untrue. But if its untrue then he’s not a liar so he said the truth. But if he said the truth then its true that all men are liars in which case his statement would be untrue… Etc etc etc.
Shticky GuyParticipantActually the word shvigger was chosen cos it rhymes with trigger…
Yes, many mils do unfortunately tell their kids what to do the whole time, not differentiating between before you got married and after. You are still their little child no matter how old you are, no matter how many kids you have ??? ??? ???. This is where the mil jokes come in.
Eg when she gives you ‘advice’ on how to bring up your kids, just tell her that you dont need advice from her cos you’re married to one of her kids and, believe me, you’ve noticed much room for improvement!
Or yakov miller’s: you open your front door to find your mil standing there. ‘What are you doing here?’ you ask. She replies ‘I’ve come to stay with you’. ‘How long for?’ you ask with dread. ‘Its up to you’ she says. ‘Oh’ you reply, ‘so you’re not even staying for a coffee??’
Shticky GuyParticipantThe mods are not computers they are humans. They might not know there was a thread like that already… and they also might not have time to check… who cares if someone wants to post the same thing twice…
My point is simply that there were several threads ON THE MAIN HOME PAGE AT THE SAME TIME on the same of a variety of topics. There were 4 on the royal wedding, 2 on key challos, then 2 on subtitles, often several on shidduchim etc. Its not that one occasionally slips thru. So I just asked the mods to do what they expect us to do if you read the rules, which is have a quick check even just of the home page.
Sometimes after posting on a thread you wish you had replied to the other thread cos it is more interesting. Dont you think to have ten threads on three topics simultaneously is rediculous? Lets amalgamate and group things together. Thats all.
Shticky GuyParticipantwhat type of gown would you like her to wear – long sleeves and a high collar?!?! come on!
She looked stunning! nothing to talk about (IMHO)
Yes she did look very beautiful. And whether she wore long or short sleeves is immaterial in that setting. But ‘high collar’? Thats a different story. Do you really think that neckline was befitting of a Royal or of any house of worship? Even our cleaner was disgusted and refused to watch with us because of it.
Shticky GuyParticipantOne thing I must have missed cos I didnt hear anyone discussing it is if the Pakistanis were only told about the raid by Obama once the helicopters had left Pakistani airspace, then when the Pakistanis discovered and scrambled military jets to intercept the helicopters, how come their jets did not engage and fire on the helicopters? Anybody?
Shticky GuyParticipantMortgage? Those things dont exist with these people. They move into new houses in one of 2 methods:
With a large bag of cash
or
With the help of an AK47
Shticky GuyParticipantYes of course it was me
Adorable: I also keep ‘the whole thing’ as do many chassidish or sefard people. I explained the reason in one of the sefira threads, k’minhag arizal. If you disregard the days where there is no aveilus or tachnun eg yomtov, rosh chodesh and shabbos, then from Pesach to Shavuos there are 33 days.
Those keeping 1st or 2nd half is just another way of counting 33.
Eclipse: If I had a choice, 1st is shorter, cos 2nd is basically whole thing besides from pesach to rosh chodesh which is only a little more than a week.
Shticky GuyParticipantAsk your Rav
This is definitely the only option. Dont take advice off anyone in a blog, even if they are a great talmid chochom and tremendous outstanding anav such as myself.
But I do believe you are confusing sefira with the 3 weeks where the aveilus is completely different. There is no problem in sefira eg to make shehechiyanu if you happen to come across a new food that you didnt set out to get. The halachos that we have are more to remind us of rabbi akiva’s talmidim and that these are special days of reflection. There are no issues of sakana or bad mazal in sefira.
Had it been considered proper aveilus, there would be no heter for someone to attend a chasuna during the half of sefira that they keep. But you ask your Rav.
