Shticky GuyParticipant
And welcome back Zeeskite! Who else have I missed?
Shticky GuyParticipantHTBT? SYGMB (Sorry You Got Me Baffled). What does that stand for?
BTW Squeak you have so many posts I could choose from. I also loved your post on
How to address you mother in law:
This is a tough one. I’d say the problem of how to address her is not nearly as big as the problem of how many stamps do you put on? I mean, I know it goes by weight, and how exactly are you supposed to know her weight? Ask her? No, there’s no doubt that would end up in an underestimate and the deadly Return To Sender!
Unless your name is not Sender, in which case you have nothing to worry about.
Shticky GuyParticipantThis thread has gone real quiet. Seems you all prefer strawberry or raspberry or cranberry or blackberry to Huckelberry…??? Come on, is Huckleberry Gin not your favorite childhood thing?
Shticky GuyParticipantWelcome back BaalHabooze! You’ve been AWOL for a week
Shticky GuyParticipantBump
Shticky GuyParticipantWelcome back BaalHabooze! Missed you for a bit
Shticky GuyParticipantThis thread should be called “Petition to get real real-brisker account unblocked”… ?
I second it. He’s a good guy. But will that not mean this newer account will be blocked? He cant have 2, especially with such similar names???
Shticky GuyParticipantI was just being light hearted. He must have done SOMETHING naughty to get blocked, no?
Shticky GuyParticipantMOD = My Old Dad
POSTER = Pseudonym Or Spy That Everyone Recognizes
TROLL = Terrorizes Randomly Oblivious Lawabiding Locals
THREAD = Totally Heavenly Reunions Each Additional Day
Shticky GuyParticipantDaasYochid I’m with both BSD and syag on this. I was hoping this would not develop into another AYC saga and WAS really upset to see you blocked. However I was convinced that this would be a temporary block due to your previous posting history and nature, and I’m glad that I was right. So dont be naughty now and be a good boy. For our sakes.
Shticky GuyParticipantOr what about this post from feivel from centuries ago (I have been here almost five years now but only posted for last couple) that went something like this:
This guy came back from a zoo in Australia and whichever picture he showed of his visit he said “that animal is a dangeroo”. “But they cant all be dangeroos” said his friend, “what makes you think its a dangeroo?” He retorted “I dunno, there was a sign on the cages saying ‘These Animals Are Dangerous’.
Shticky GuyParticipantMy favorite ice cream flavor:
Huckleberry Gin
Shticky GuyParticipantI’ll nominate one of the many Squeak posts that appear on his Post of the Year thread for the new Post of the Week (not Post of the Weak) thread:
Squeak: The fine people of the Asti region of Italy discovered a way to rid themselves of pesky mosquitos. They simply bottle them and sell the bottles to foreigners…
Shticky GuyParticipantSnow is just like my mother in law. It only comes for an hour or two but causes me problems for days…
Shticky GuyParticipantI’ve been taking a siesta or two. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Shticky GuyParticipantI found an answer to the bnosov question. Its the sifsei chachomim on that above pasuk ‘ubnos banov’ on the rashi who says they were serach bas asher and yocheved bas levi. Its beautiful but too long to write out so ayin sham.
Coffee pls bring mekor for your assertion that only the sons descendants were counted despite many pesukim seemingly to the contrary eg kol nefesh lebeis yakov habah mitzraima shivim (ber 46 27) or kol nefesh yotzei yerech yakov shivim nefesh (shemos 1 5) or beshivim nefesh yardu avosecha mitzraima (dev 10 22)?
Ps Look in the Or Hachaim (46 7) on why the shibud began before yocheved and serach were niftar when it should have waited till that whole dor died!
Shticky GuyParticipantShaul’s mother was definitely dina acc to rashi and she was called kenanis because of her union with shechem. Whether like I learned that shaul was born as a result of that union and later adopted by shimon as a step son, or as you suggest that he was from bnei shimon so his father was shimon and he was not born from dina and shechem but later from dina and shimon is unclear. I have no proof either way (in divrei hayomim it writes simply shaul) but that is not my question. I asked why osnat was not included in the 70.
Interestingly the pasuk I brought above says “bnosov” plural. How many daughters went with him to mitzraim besides dina?
Shticky GuyParticipantlittleapple: thank you I will look there.
Coffee: No – remember we are asking on rashi so lets stick with rashi’s pshat, and he says on the pasuk that shaul ben haknanis was “ben dina shenivaloh l’kenani”. So in rashi’s shita are you able to offer an explanation? If we reckon dina’s son in the 70 then why do we not include her daughter osnas?
Shticky GuyParticipantShticky GuyParticipantHaleivi and coffee thanx for answering.
Haleivi: leave the Ramban out as I am asking for Rashi’s opinion and they often disagree with each other. I was saying that Rashi should include Osnas as Dina’s daughter (not as Yosef’s wife).
Coffee: Do you mean the pasuk ???? ,??? ???? ,????? ,???? ???? ,??? ????? This does not include ???? ????? as you rightly said, but neither does it include ?? ??? who the pasuk writes as ???? ?? ??????? who was Dina’s son. He must be included in ???? ???? so why is Osnas not included in ???? ???? also?
Shticky GuyParticipantShticky GuyParticipantRashi in Vayigash explains how we arrive at the 70 people who were in ????? with ????. He says there were 66 counted in the ??????, and ???? was born on arriving there making 67, and ???? and his 2 sons makes 70.
What about ????’s wife ???? who, ??”? say was the daughter of ????? We mention ???? herself and also ????’s other granddaughter ??? ?? ???. So why not ????. And dont say that ??”? is not bringing ???? because he says that the ?????’s twin sisters had all died, so he is including ????. The only guess is that she may have also died.
Does anyone have a solution or has anyone seen this anywhere?
Shticky GuyParticipantHave you any clue how many frum songs are taken and copied EXACTLY from non Jewish songs? I think for sure it is not lashon hora to repeat ones that are public knowledge to be copied. Many people think that the most high profile (besides Lippa and Country Yossi) is MBD’s Yiddin but I think the most high profile is Breslov’s famous song ‘Rabbi Nachman, Nachman m’Uman…’
My dad told me that years ago he was at a wedding where the Spinka Rebbe was attending and the band struck up with ‘Those Were The Days’ and the Rebbe was tapping the table in time to the music.
Its a hard one, seforim say that the Shaar Hanegina is a very high madreiga and music must come from a pure source.
Shticky GuyParticipantYou seriously love L. Frank Baum? He was a garbage story teller. He got the story all wrong. For example Dorothy’s slippers were ruby not silver. Then he has the monkeys trying to take her home? Come on, everybody knows that’s not what happened. Frank should have watched the movie properly before writing the book.
Ok, ok I’m winding you up.
Shticky GuyParticipantSender Av: Humorous OP! These similarities have never occcured to me, but you for sure have gotten a smile out of me! Yes, great memories of the shvill hatzahov movie. And the acting and singing is amazing… “we’ve got to verify it legally to see if she is morally, ethically, spiritually, physically, positively, absolutely, undeniably and reliably dead…”
According to this wonderful comparison, why was Dorothy allowed to leave Oz? The Kohen Gadol hadn’t died.
Actually, after Toto’s curtain unveiling of him, the concept of the wizard was definitely dead, though by then the sibling of the wicked witch of the east was also dead so no more goel.
Oz is not the ir Miklat, the Emerald City is
So you think Dorothy was safe in the Emerald City do you? Which edition did you see? Besides trying to kill Dorothy there, the wicked witch of the west even attempted to perform chalitza on her…
Shticky GuyParticipantGetzel1, Imanonov, BaalHabooze, Cutie and everyone else… Thanx for those they are great. Now that it is a little over 2 months to Purim, lets keep this thread well fed
January 3, 2012 12:17 pm at 12:17 pm in reply to: Why did Shnooky wait 25 years to get Bar Mitzvah? #841128Shticky GuyParticipantWhat??? Shnooky was Barmitzvah? Just wait a minute. So why did I not receive an invitation??? Thats not right! I should have been invited! Grrrrrrrr! That Dr Middos, just wait till I see him again, I’ll… I’lll…
MIDDOS ALERT! MIDDOS ALERT!
Shticky GuyParticipantHatzlocha Rabbo onegoal. Learn well and keep away from beit shemesh. Please send regards to Dr Monis Q Jefferson!
Shticky GuyParticipantSick-rikim
lol +1 very clever!
Shticky GuyParticipantYes! Elderberry wine indeed! ☺ Best drunk on the Panama Canal, is it not, with just a pinch of… ☺
And before I charge up the stairs, let me tell DY that the licorice is called Darrel Lea (I think). But beware… it is more addictive than coffee!!
Shticky GuyParticipantWelcome back to Ctrl Alt Del and warm welcome to the chassidishe gatesheader (I didnt know there was such a thing). Come lets get this place rocking again.
Shticky GuyParticipantSorry DY but with all those ice cream smudges on my computer it was difficult to read. Anyways would YOU clean a computer that had skunk ice cream shmeared all over it?
And if we have digressed onto licorice then I’ll tell you another deer joke. Not about how deer ice cream has become in the economic climate, not about how deer my favorite flavor is to me. But this one:
What do you call a deer with no eyes? No eyed deer. And what do you call a deer with no eyes and no legs? Still no eyed deer
Shticky GuyParticipantNice idea. Posting threshold would be better because with a time threshhold they would simply create new accounts and leave them inactive until the curfew passes
Shticky GuyParticipantAntelope.
Oh deer!
DY lol
I was inspired by the sound of the Mod 80 skunk ice cream so I asked for an Obama Brain flavor ice cream. But they said it has not been invented yet…
Shticky GuyParticipantSqueak: The coffeeroom in its present format was established May 26 2006 as you will see if you click on my 5th birthday link above. I make that 5 years and 7 months. Where did you get 2008 from?
DY LOL so if we disregard J—-H that leaves us with around 24 users…
Shticky GuyParticipantThat’s strange. 5 months ago there were 149 pages of threads. That is after over 5 years of posting. Now, 5 months later there are a staggering 201 pages.
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/page/201
How is this possible. And why does that 201st page only show threads from 3 years ago when the current coffeeroom is over five and a half years old (see below)?
Shticky GuyParticipantmoi aussie sorry I must have forgotten but anyways whats a month when talking of reading cane and abel? Its a million pages long! But most of Jeffrey Archer’s books had me gripped and the others were also awesome!
Goq thanks but I cant claim any of them. They were copied. And there’s many more on that list, I only posted a few.
Hanoch Teller has great books.
Shticky GuyParticipantSparks of Glory on the holocaust.

Shticky GuyParticipantLet me add onto my earlier post: If you notice a menora flame flickering and looking like it will soon go out, even though it should still be alight for a long time, then the only way to ensure it stays alight is to look at it carefully and see what you can do to keep it alight. If you ignore it, it will probably go out.
So too with OTD, if you see someone’s neshama flickering and looking like it could chas veshalom go out then you must think of ways to keep it alight. If you ignore them THEY WILL GO OUT. Stop and think of ways be mikarev them to keep their flame going. Dont leave/ignore them.
December 27, 2011 7:35 pm at 7:35 pm in reply to: question that will probably be controversial #841360Shticky GuyParticipantMy LOR has said in the past that where you stand to gain from it in whatever way then its muttar because ultimately you’re not doing it for nothing or for them but for yourself. Anyway, it would probably be muttar mipnei darkei shalom in this case. People forget that. Avrohom Avinu davened for rachmanus for goyim reshaim gemurim of sedom and amorah because they were human beings and maasei hashem!
You did right to ask. Only the place of your question (ie here) was wrong.

<Jothar Alert> <Jothar Alert>
Someone’s stalking MY old threads also…
Over & out
Shticky GuyParticipantI see that some ppl love bringing up old threads…. cute to see
Yea, adorable, I agree.
Shticky GuyParticipantBump
Would all new and returning posters please sign in and clear Jothar’s security checks here. Thank you. Once you’re thru with that, follow the yellow brick road, have the courage to use your brain or heart and branch off at any thread that takes your fancy. Welcome to you all.
Shticky GuyParticipantAnd hello to the stable backbone of the coffeeroom who keeps the show rolling (in every sense): The Goq!
Shticky GuyParticipantEmunas Itecha what a phenomenal thought. Truly amazing. Thanx you for sharing it.
Allow me to adapt it a little. We know Chanoch lanaar al pi darko which means educate each child in their own way. Some need a little extra help here, some a little more there. Dont expect them all to catch on at the same time or with the same input. So parents, educators and those involved in kiruv etc attempting to inspire other’s souls should apply emunas’s lesson and not demand uniformity from people. We all need nurturing at our own pace and we will ‘catch on’ when we are ready, like the wicks. Do not move your flame away from us before we are ready otherwise all your efforts may be in vain.
Shticky GuyParticipantRB thats my point exactly. I was saying that I had realized that an unapproved thread is as closed as a closed one and can this be changed? To which 95 replied (thank you) that mods cannot.
Onegoal thats an interesting idea but think how weird threads would look with posts missing then subsequent replies to those posts would not make sense. Instead, be aware that once you send a post you have no further control over it (after the edit period elapses) so – mussar haskel – consider what you write carefully before sending it.
Shticky GuyParticipantA stickied suggestion box thread is an EXCELLENT idea. At present all we have is about 4 mods threads which only sometimes get responded to…
Shticky GuyParticipantNot that the editor or most mods showed interest in answering my question of why a newly started thread is not editable once posted, but for the sake of mod 20, real brisker and anyone else interested, immediately after submitting a new thread a few days ago (which was obviously at that stage only visible to me), I attempted to write a second post and got the message “This topic has been closed” when in fact it had not yet even been opened. This may help to understand why the new thread is not editable. So can this please be changed?
Shticky GuyParticipantDave Hirsch Its really good to see you again. Thanx for stopping by. I sure miss your banter with charliehall , nfgo3 and chevra. I also miss ALL the posters mentioned above. ???? ???? ???? ?? . It would be great to hear from them again. Does anybody know them IRL? We could organize the greatest welcome party ever know to man and woman. Come on guys…
Shticky GuyParticipantPopa 8-15 pounds in total of a new born lamb – but how much of that is edible? Take away the bones, hooves, head etc etc and them see how much or how little is left. This is incomparable to a fully grown turkey of the same weight.
