Furthermore, your quotation from the OU is from an article that begins with this: “The following article is an overview of colorants used in the food industry.” I don’t see any indication, therefore, that OU is disagreeing with Star-K. Their article is simply in regards to food whereas we’re talking about cosmetics.
shtatier.than.youMemberSo, if you want to take on a chumra and go above and beyond the MINHAG HAOLAM, that’s fine. But to say that the minhag haolam is treif and assur is unacceptable.
shtatier.than.youMembershtatier.than.youMemberThank you, YW Moderator-29. And lightbrite – I legit just did contact my LOR and he said it’s fine. Also, I don’t know where you got that list of ingredients from, but I just checked the packaging of the lipstick I just bought and carmine is NOT under the ingredients list; it is merely under the “may contain” list.

shtatier.than.youMemberWhen you see someone doing an aveirah, you’re only supposed to talk to the person about it if you truly think they’ll change. For example, someone who doesn’t even realize that it’s an aveirah. But, when that person is aware of what they’re doing and you know they’re not interested in changing it, you’re not allowed to tell them off for it.

shtatier.than.youMemberAfter talking to my friend she thinks that Midreshet Tehillah sounds really good for her!!!! But, she can probably only go for a summer…..I know that there is a Neve Summer Session mentioned on their website, but it has nothing to do with MT. Any summer seminaries that are like Midreshet Tehillah?
shtatier.than.youMemberNo, she’s only in 11th grade.
Also, I just want to add that she’s going to university and plans to work full-time after that.
Can you please tell me more about MMY, Harova, and Midreshit Tehilah? Are they for the summer or full-year?
Also, regarding Harova, what does “not very academic” mean? Everyone always throws that term around, but I don’t really have a grasp on it. Do you mean it’s more hashkafa/chessed based or that they’re not into tests/homework?
