shmoelMember
Couldn’t pick a more shmutzidik town than Vegas.
shmoelMemberIts too bad that so many going into the Army as Daati come out as Chiloni.
shmoelMemberThere is nothing positive or praiseworthy about being on a show.
shmoelMemberDY: Post the title of the pdf, or some googleable search keyword(s) to find it.
shmoelMemberIs cRc, Chicago, reliable?
shmoelMemberSo how does a divorced Kohen relate to a new wife?
shmoelMemberIf the secular sochnut apikorus had 1/100th the yiras shamayim as your yeshiva friends, he wouldn’t be an apikorus.
shmoelMemberAbsolutely. We can discuss mandatory fulltime multi-year military service for Chareidim after we implement mandatory fulltime multi-year Torah study for Chilonim.
Until then there is nothing to negotiate about or discuss. Torah Jews are not enlisting.
shmoelMemberJust jump in. No point in delaying the inevitable.
shmoelMemberThen seriously consider going back. Remarrying your ex is a special mitzvah!
shmoelMemberWhat if the product being sold is intangible? Such as a software download. Or an e-book. Or information. Or a music download. And the buyer pays for it AND gets it on Shabbos. Assur?
shmoelMemberIf one must refuse orders on Shabbos, or chooses to refuse such orders, such as B&H, should they refuse to accept orders when it is Shabbos for the website owners (i.e. in New York by B&H) even though it isn’t Shabbos at the time the customer places his order from Los Angeles? Or should they refuse to accept an order from a customer who places it on Shabbos where he is located, even though it isn’t Shabbos at the merchant’s location?
shmoelMemberGreat point, HaLeiVi.
shmoelMemberSo if someone made a pledge by phone and got an ad in return, he can technically not pay his pledge even though he got an ad?
shmoelMemberSniping software and websites have been around almost as long as eBay itself. They were already popular, and I was already using them on eBay, in the 1990’s.
shmoelMemberDoes the shaila change if you use sniper software or a sniper website that actually submits your bid to eBay on Shabbos itself?
shmoelMemberYeah, that’s the point of that thread. Better mess up THAT thread with weird code, then a regular thread.
shmoelMemberI think that about certain posters. But being polite, I never post my thoughts about them.
shmoelMemberIf I knew a designer or merchant engaged in, or supported, immorality, I certainly would avoid patronizing such people and retailers.
shmoelMemberI’d bet dollars to donuts that if the OP had been Chevy instead of Heshy, and she wrote the exact same OP except mentioning her husband said there is no other description than to describe her as stupid (after she wasn’t sympathetic enough), you’d have the same crowd above here telling Chevy to speak to a counselor with some posters subtly suggesting she consider divorce. The same crowd would be blaming the man whichever foot the shoe was on.
Food for thought.
June 28, 2012 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm in reply to: Is there a program out there that will block off wifi on an android phone? #962871shmoelMemberWhy wouldn’t you put iPhones in the same category as an Android?
shmoelMemberHow can you not feel anything? Unless you’re totally cold…
June 28, 2012 2:54 am at 2:54 am in reply to: Is there a program out there that will block off wifi on an android phone? #962867shmoelMemberThis thread makes be proud to be a Yid. It gives much nachas seeing my fellow Yidden discarding the internet. I, too, hope to reach this madreiga one day soon.
shmoelMemberI wouldn’t reject a BT for Yeshiva, either.
shmoelMemberAre you good with dead people?
shmoelMemberThe waste was a reference to the lack of tznius. Perhaps a better term could be used. The waste of time is secondary. Maybe I even retract that part. The main concern is lack of tznius which can cause “waste” v’hameivin yavin.
shmoelMemberIt depends. If they won’t be seeing each other much between engagement and wedding, it can be long. If they will be often in touch, it ought to be as short as possible. It isn’t tznius for a boy and girl to hangout much (even if they are engaged.)
shmoelMemberTime. (And untznius.)
shmoelMemberIf there is no difference in divorce rate between couples that went out 3 times or 9 times or 21 times before engagement, everyone ought to go out three times since any more is a waste.
shmoelMemberThe lowest Yid is on a much much higher madreiga than the best goy.
shmoelMemberThis is a complete fabrication and outright lie. The school NEVER sent such a letter to anyone.
June 14, 2012 2:41 pm at 2:41 pm in reply to: Can someone with unfiltered internet be a ???? ?????? #1134172shmoelMemberThe consensus of the gedolim is that unfiltered internet istake abis far far worse than television ever was. And make no mistake about it, television itself is terrible.
June 14, 2012 2:35 pm at 2:35 pm in reply to: Can someone with unfiltered internet be a ???? ?????? #1134171shmoelMember.
shmoelMemberTop guys and regular guys have a hard time finding a very good girl.
shmoelMemberSatellite imagery and video cameras on local streets are the same thing as far as halacha is concerned. So, really, the entire universe is always being filmed on video during Shabbos.
shmoelMemberThe Noda B’Yehuda says that shituf is avoda zora.
shmoelMemberYes.
June 13, 2012 2:34 am at 2:34 am in reply to: Can someone with unfiltered internet be a ???? ?????? #1134164shmoelMemberYichusdik: Rav Ellyashev and the Chofetz Chaim also prohibit shaving. I take it that in your zeal to remain non-hypocritical, you similarly reject everything else from Rav Elyashev and the Chofetz Chaim.
May 21, 2012 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm in reply to: I have a problem with internet filters.(And I'm frum) #878379shmoelMemberThe filters we need is for loshon hora sites, kefira sites, anti-gedolim sites, anti-rabbonim site, anti-kollel sites, anti-creation sites, shmutz sites, heretical sites, and the like. Not for health related sites.
shmoelMemberBetween having unfiltered internet in ones home or office or rather having pork in your fridge, unfiltered internet is far worse. No one will talk themself into that the pork is kosher. If someone observes your pork filled fridge, he won’t mistaken that pork might be kosher. OTOH, if you have unfiltered internet, you probably think that’s kosher. And you might be nichshal others to think it’s okay.
May 21, 2012 2:56 pm at 2:56 pm in reply to: with the asifa behind us, what will you do about it? #875653shmoelMemberRav Wachsman, Rav Brudny and Rav Matisyahu Solomon all spoke in English.
shmoelMemberIt is a humongeous Kiddush Shem Shamayim!!
shmoelMemberThe Gedolei Yisroel announced at the Kinus last night that the poskim across the United States, Eretz Yisroel and the world have issued a binding psak din upon Klal Yisroel that unfiltered internet is assur under any and all circumstances.
There is nothing to discuss. Unfiltered internet is eating chazir and having a treif kitchen.
shmoelMemberShe was sentenced r’l 12 months ago. Where is she now and what is the most recent status on an appeal?
shmoelMemberIs Arthur Ashe going to have live speakers that will be simulcast to Citi Field and vice versa? Or is Arthur Ashe just going to be a live feed with no onsite programming?
Also, what time does the program begin?
shmoelMemberI google everyone I know (and lookup their facebook as well.) Family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, etc. It isn’t a big deal.
shmoelMemberThey are both still active.
May 17, 2012 8:18 pm at 8:18 pm in reply to: co-ed first aid course with male and female instuctor #875259shmoelMember100% treif. You can find non-coed.
shmoelMemberWhy is that interesting? Is the general consensus that a ger can’t be a gabbai?
shmoelMemberI dunno who is included in chareidim, but the yeshivish crowd in places like flatbush definitely currently have a notably higher divorce rate than the chasidishe crowd in places like williamsburg.
