If the secular sochnut apikorus had 1/100th the yiras shamayim as your yeshiva friends, he wouldn’t be an apikorus.

Absolutely. We can discuss mandatory fulltime multi-year military service for Chareidim after we implement mandatory fulltime multi-year Torah study for Chilonim.

Until then there is nothing to negotiate about or discuss. Torah Jews are not enlisting.

What if the product being sold is intangible? Such as a software download. Or an e-book. Or information. Or a music download. And the buyer pays for it AND gets it on Shabbos. Assur?

If one must refuse orders on Shabbos, or chooses to refuse such orders, such as B&H, should they refuse to accept orders when it is Shabbos for the website owners (i.e. in New York by B&H) even though it isn’t Shabbos at the time the customer places his order from Los Angeles? Or should they refuse to accept an order from a customer who places it on Shabbos where he is located, even though it isn’t Shabbos at the merchant’s location?

Sniping software and websites have been around almost as long as eBay itself. They were already popular, and I was already using them on eBay, in the 1990’s.

Does the shaila change if you use sniper software or a sniper website that actually submits your bid to eBay on Shabbos itself?

I’d bet dollars to donuts that if the OP had been Chevy instead of Heshy, and she wrote the exact same OP except mentioning her husband said there is no other description than to describe her as stupid (after she wasn’t sympathetic enough), you’d have the same crowd above here telling Chevy to speak to a counselor with some posters subtly suggesting she consider divorce. The same crowd would be blaming the man whichever foot the shoe was on.

    Food for thought.

The waste was a reference to the lack of tznius. Perhaps a better term could be used. The waste of time is secondary. Maybe I even retract that part. The main concern is lack of tznius which can cause “waste” v’hameivin yavin.

It depends. If they won’t be seeing each other much between engagement and wedding, it can be long. If they will be often in touch, it ought to be as short as possible. It isn’t tznius for a boy and girl to hangout much (even if they are engaged.)

If there is no difference in divorce rate between couples that went out 3 times or 9 times or 21 times before engagement, everyone ought to go out three times since any more is a waste.

Satellite imagery and video cameras on local streets are the same thing as far as halacha is concerned. So, really, the entire universe is always being filmed on video during Shabbos.

Yichusdik: Rav Ellyashev and the Chofetz Chaim also prohibit shaving. I take it that in your zeal to remain non-hypocritical, you similarly reject everything else from Rav Elyashev and the Chofetz Chaim.

Between having unfiltered internet in ones home or office or rather having pork in your fridge, unfiltered internet is far worse. No one will talk themself into that the pork is kosher. If someone observes your pork filled fridge, he won’t mistaken that pork might be kosher. OTOH, if you have unfiltered internet, you probably think that’s kosher. And you might be nichshal others to think it’s okay.

There is nothing to discuss. Unfiltered internet is eating chazir and having a treif kitchen.

I dunno who is included in chareidim, but the yeshivish crowd in places like flatbush definitely currently have a notably higher divorce rate than the chasidishe crowd in places like williamsburg.
